They traded insults on the campaign trail, but Donald Trump has nothing but kind words now that former Texas Gov. Rick Perry has left the Republican presidential race.
Perry announced his departure from the Republican primary Friday evening just before Trump taped an appearance on "The Tonight Show" in New York City.
Business Insider asked Trump about Perry as he left the NBC studios in Manhattan.
Trump described his former opponent as a "good man."
"It was a tough time, he's a terrific guy. I know him from before and he was a terrific guy," Trump said. "I wish him well. I think he's going to have a great future."

Now, that’s funny....and delusional.
Which history are you referring to? This part of history?

LOL, that’s true but I’d pay to see it again. That might shake some sense into them.
” I am praying that those closest to him can encourage him to stay on a more professional level in his discourse.”
Sorry but the reason why his numbers are high because he’s BRUTALLY HONEST in what he says. If you want a “professional” candidate, then vote for one of these GOPe stiff politicians who say the right words but later do another thing and lie like those so-called Tea Party candidates who used us..
Folks....Rick Perry brought failure unto himself with his big mouth. Case closed....Bobby Jindal, Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul an Jeb Bush are next to quit the POTUS run!!! All of them slit their own throats politically.
And...just remember, good folks, any one of them could have opened their campaign with the same mantra and fury that Donald Trump did.....None of them did it!!! All talk and no action.....just like Senate Leader, Mitch McConnell & House Leader, John Boehner!!! Whimps, all of them and add John McCain & Mitt Romney who threw away the opportunity of becoming POTUS, because they were weak sister whimps!!!
Immediately after this interview, Trump ate breakfast at the Waffle House.
Actually, there is not much evidence that negative campaigning either helps or hurts.

It seems that Trump can get media coverage of anything he says so in his case, it may actually be advantageous as petty as it may seem to many others (including yours truly).
We call them wussies. I am tired of the “let’s get along crowd.” We need a real leader who says what needs to be said and gets it done. No more Mr. Nice Guy.
Sec of Transportation?!
Mr. TransTexas Corridor?
No.
Perry’s withdrawal speech yesterday was a stem-winder of the first order. Had he been that forceful earlier on he would not have had to make it. Too little, too late.
Donald Trump is now saying nice things about Rick Perry
******************************************************************
It’s a campaign, candidates who try to play mr. nice guy are also known as losers. Perry is out so Trump can be magnanimous now.
On the Tonight Show last night, Trump spoke nicely of Carly Fiorina and said it as great that she will make it to the Debate Stage next week.
“I think it’s noteworthy because Perry trashed Trump when he pulled out the race, but Trump was gracious in return.”
That is true. Trump was indeed gracious to Perry.
With all due respect to you as a Freeper, you can’t hold a candle to Trumps knowledge about campaigning.
I’ll go with the winner, not the loser.
Negative campaigning is very effective at reducing voter turnout.
“Negative campaigning is very effective at reducing voter turnout.”
Not with Trump it won’t. He’s drawing huge crowds that will also show up at the polls.
Trump not saying such nice things about Rand Paul. Check out his recent Twitter feed!
