FERGUSON Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says he probably wouldnt have used deadly force against Michael Brown, the teenager whose fatal shooting by police Officer Darren Wilson sparked a national debate on race and the role of police.
Carson gave an interview to the Post-Dispatch on Friday afternoon after visiting Ferguson. When asked if he would have shot Brown if he were in Wilsons shoes, Carson said: Its hard to say. I probably, knowing who he was, I probably just would have arrested him.
Carson said he would have waited for backup before having the altercation.
A Justice Department investigation concluded that Wilson had reason to fear for his life and thus couldnt be prosecuted for fatally shooting the unarmed 18-year-old.

To borrow from FReeper nathanbedford, this is another example of the immutable axiom, "All politics of America's not local but ultimately racial."
He’s been stepping into it for awhile. I’m frankly shocked that conservative Republicans keep forgetting about his past inane statements.
Carson wasn’t there.
So how would he know what exactly was going on?
From this article he’s an ‘insane’ liberal....
Oh, no. The Gentle Giant would have seen that Officer Carson was a brother, and they would have sat down together and enjoyed a blunt. /s
Nothing like exposure to shine a light on a candidate’s real views. He has lasted this long by flying under the radar. Just give him enough rope and he’ll take care of the rest.
I’ve stated this elsewhere, but such an answer shows that if Carson really is a conservative, he is not speaking from conviction - therefore, he’s a quisling RINO.
When you speak from principled conviction, you are mistake-proof. PC answers are mistakes.
His radio was on a wrong channel after the struggle for the gun within the vehicle. His call for backup - which he made eventually - was not heard by anyone. IIRC, other officers came to the area because they heard gunshots.
Why didn’t he say, “That’s a stupid hypothetical question—not worth answering. Do you have any questions worth answering?”
Carson is making a huge mistake trying to answer all of the media’s “gotcha” questions. They are designed to take him down and he is falling into their trap by thinking he somehow has to answer their false premises and hypotheticals.
Obviously, the reporter is going after conservatives with "gotcha" questions.
His next question may have been: What's your opinion on evolution?
Ben, that is crazy talk. Do you even know how that incident went down? That perp would have used your own gun against you, once he got close enough to do what he did.
Perhaps Ben should have pulled out his red cape and bull-fighted the charging Brown until he collapsed from exhaustion.
The pressure on blacks to carry the race’s water at all costs is extremely high. But that’s no excuse for capitulating to evil political correctness.
If that’s the case with every black candidate, I pray that we’ll never have another. It’s essentially blackmail material.
“The animal was charging Officer Wilson at the time.”
Carson should read the grand jury report (I have) before commenting. The essential facts regarding the encounter have not been reported in the media. Likely Carson is basing his impressions of Wilson’s behavior on the media accounts, and opinion, which are not accurate.
The evidence demonstrates Michael Brown reached into the police car and tried to take the officer’s gun, resulting in the first shots being fired. Once the officer regained control of the weapon, Brown ran and Wilson left the car to give chase. Wilson did not fire again at Brown until Brown turned and charged him. Brown had superior size and strength so the officer feared for his life. The ballistic evidence shows Brown was not shot in the back, he was shot charging the officer. Most of those who claimed in press reports Brown was shot in the back by the officer refused to testify under oath to the grand jury.
There was one appropriate answer for Carson:
“I was not at the scene and I have not reviewed the evidence. I have not received law enforcement training. Therefore it is not possible for me to speculate on how I would have reacted in the situation.”
I've been fearing that possibility for awhile.
Does Carson understand how it went down?
Carson said he would have waited for backup before having the altercation.
It's kinda easy to Monday morning QB unless you have a crystal ball to foresee events. 20/20 hindsight and all....
Too late. It's a terminal disease.
I posted in a related thread several days ago, something similar to this:
Imagine Carson trying to face down Putin, The Chinese, The North Koreans, The Iranian ayatollah, etc.
It would seem his statement about Brown answers how he would respond to international thugs.
