To be fair, I've seen lots of conservative activists pull this card as well: anyone who disagrees with them politically -- and is an unmarried male over 30 -- MUST be gay.

I think you narrowed the field of people who care about what famous people think and say too far when restricting it to young people.

Many people today look to famous people for opinions on matters of import.

Why is a difficult question especially when you consider that many of them are entertainers with little education to speak of. Why should anyone equate fame due to being an entertainer with wisdom or knowledge is beyond reason.
