GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said Tuesday evening that he speaks for Americans exasperated by a government that ignores their needs and tarnishes their nations prestige.
Trump issued his rallying cry from the deck of the USS Iowa, a retired battleship, during a wide-ranging national security address that spent little time on national security.
This is a movement, the outspoken billionaire told listeners at the port of Los Angeles. I love you all. I want you people to look around and look at one another because this is going to be a special day, he said. People arent silent anymore.
They are disgusted with our politicians, Trump argued. They are disgusted with the people giving our nation away. They are disgusted when a woman who is nine months comes across the border and has a baby, and then they have to take care of that baby for the next 85 years.
In a speech aimed at Americas current and retired military personnel, Trump claimed that there is no greater travesty than the Veterans Administrations healthcare system.
Whats going on is incredible, he said. I am with the veterans 100 percent. They are our greatest people [and] they are being treated terribly.
Right now, we have illegal immigrants that are treated better, by far, than our veterans, Trump said.
Thats not going to happen anymore, the real estate tycoon added. You are going to get the greatest service of any veterans in any country because you deserve it.
Illegal immigration again served as one of Trumps favorite targets, as he repeated arguments that it brings a tidal wave of narcotics and violent crimes into the U.S.
There are tremendous drugs pouring across our border, he said. Drugs pour in, money pours out. Not a good deal. The drug cartels are running wild.
Trump delivered his remarks with the USS Iowas three artillery cannons aiming at viewers from behind his podium.
Following the speech, he tossed the crowd hats bearing his now-famous campaign slogan Make America Great Again.
On Wednesday evening, Trump will join 10 other Republican White House hopefuls in the second GOP debate, airing live on CNN from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.
Trumps presence has left the rest of the Republican contenders currently 16 in number scrambling for attention amid his outsized media persona and surging polling numbers.
The business magnate said on Tuesday evening that he is ready for the competition.
Im here for a certain reason its called tomorrow night, Trump joked during his rallys opening moments.
Trump argued he is going to restore American authority on the world stage by instilling new respect in other global leaders.
The leaders of Mexico, China, Japan and all the other countries that we do business with are smarter, more cunning and sharper than our leaders, he said. We are going to have a president who is respected by Putin and who is respected by Iran.
Trump ranks first nationally out of the GOP field with 29.8 percent, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average.
Overlooking the fact that he is a politician now, naturally.
True.
I think that may be some of it but I think he’s a lot more than a simple protest vote. His message is solid. His qualifications are solid. His candidacy is solid. And as we start to look at his policy proposals, I think we’ll see that they’re a lot more solid than some people want to admit.
This is why only Trump is the only one that says anything against China, Mexico ,Saudi Arabia etc.
Politicians are all owned by rich internationalist donors. Not Trump. Politicians are all looking to make a lot of money off of a long political career in Washington, Not Trump
Out of those running Trump is also the only one that says deport illegals and build a Wall
U.S. politicians have never done anything for America but they have destroyed America by growing government, bad trade deals and importing illegals and 3rd world immigrants
Recent examples include all US senators voting for the Corker bill which means giving Iran nukes, obama trade , etc.
disgust is too mild a word....
Could you be a politician without holding elected office yet, merely running for one?
I don’t think so. And the idea that he is not “beholden” to interests is balderdash. I should find that Milton Friedman clip.
ABSOLUTELY. ZERO representation with regards to some very fundamental issues of life, liberty.
Trump has tapped into it and we need to get out locally to do our part. We need to reach out to David Brat style anti-establishment folks who can ride the coat tails of what looks to be a Trump tidal wave to give him a Congress and Senate that will work with him on our behalf.
Remember, there are 435 Congressional Seats and 34 Senate seats on the same ballots as the Presidential race.

I just enlisted in the Veterans for a Strong America. It is time for all freedom loving Veterans need to answer the call, again.
His message is solid, I agree. As far as marketing the product, he does GREAT.
I recognize that he is not a long term politician, so I'll put it in business terms that he would understand:
He is at Gate 1: marketing and market segmentation.
He has 25 - 30% of the people at Gate 2: pursuit. He has a lot of suspects (myself included), he has a bunch of prospects (30% of the population), but those prospects have to be qualified yet.
He has not developed a Capture Plan yet. Or, at least, he hasn't disclosed his Capture Plan. I'm seeing marketing-level ghosting of the competition, not actual differentiation.
I don't even know if he's gotten to building his Proposal yet. The RFP is out there and a proposal submission date has been set (Nov 2016), but I don't know if the technical solution has been developed, much less the technical, managerial, and pricing proposal. They will have to be particularly strong, as his past performance volume won't show relevant past performance in all areas of the RFP. Not a disqualifying factor by any means, but the proposal evaluators will have to be convinced.
Bottom line is that it's a long time before Gate 4 (proposal submission) much less Gate 5 (award). He has a lot of rocks and shoals to navigate around and his competition is gunning for him. He can do a lot with Gate 1 marketing, but there's a world of difference between Gate 1 efforts and Gate 4 proposal submission.
I'd like to see video if you can find it.
There is one thing Trump has dead wrong, In regards to trade, he keeps saying our leaders are stupid and make bad deals. Nonsense. They make exactly the deals they want, serving there financial sector and corporate masters.
The other candidates and the pundits once lamented that he didn’t offer specifics. He has offered specifics and has stated that he doesn’t want to get tied down by being overly specific which is smart. Meanwhile, I haven’t heard any of the other candidates offering much in the way of policy specifics. Carly is proud of her Wrinkles and Jeb is proud of his Mexican heritage. They aren’t talking about policies. They’re talking about Donald Trump. Trump has been the most specific of any of them IMO.
They are already longing for the day when they could accuse him of not being specific. If he stays with “send them all home” and this tax reform he is unbeatable!
Never fight with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig loves it.
Debating with a liberal is like playing chess with a pigeon.
The pigeon knocks all the pieces over, craps all over the board and struts around like he won the game.
And the media elites who make a living off of them.
