Ted Cruz in both debates (vanity)
self

Posted on 09/17/2015 7:44:57 AM PDT by Java4Jay

In both debates Ted Cruz seemed to be shutout. For a candidate polling in the middle of the pack he got limited time, often less than the bottom feeders. I want my president to be assertive and fault Cruz for not jumping in. Cruz is my #1 yet gave him negative marks due to the above.

I agree...TC has at least one stinker advisor on communications...methinks TC might be making the mistake of listening to him.

And I know this guy, it would be a mistake.

One thing about Cruz is he gets more time to discuss then most of the candidates. The only ones who had more time were Trump, Carley, and Rubio.

All by design. When the press gives all of the air to Carly (on purpose), then they aren’t letting him talk for a reason.

I’m thinking that it’s a sure bet that he will be #2 to Trump and then he will have the air he needs. Maybe he’s also waiting for the clutter of nobodies to clear out to really get in there. Cruz has solid money, staying power, and support. He will be in this all the way through.

I agree, he was shut out. I also wish Cruz would work on coming across as less polished. In my family I’m the only Cruz supporter, they don’t dislike him but the complaint I get about him is his delivery, he seems too much like a politician, a speech giver. It’s hard for me not to get defensive over Cruz but it is true, I do notice his delivery probably doesn’t help him.

And how exactly, and be very specific, does he just “jump in” and not look like an immature child butting in? Do you want a moderator to say “Senator Cruz, this is a warning against butting in.”? Because they will, which will work against him to the audience at home. The moderators don’t do that to others, but they will do that to him.

I disagree with your assessment Cruz getting more time to discuss. References please.

Cruz seemed slightly more human last night. A little warmer.

Funny thing is...despite the media ignoring him and his being overly polite in the debates (e.g., not jumping in like some of the “midgets”) he is still climbing in the polls. This primary race is a marathon, not a sprint.

That being said, Ted could be a little more aggressive about inserting himself since the media is sure as hell not going to do that more than the absolute minimal.

Ted was respectful unlike Carly who butted in like it was the Carly show. Ted also did try to take on Tappers climate change skeptic question, but Tapper’s mission was to ignore him and cut him off all night. But then Tapper allowed Huckabee to go on about vaccines, and some of the others who spoke out of turn. The agenda is clear by the MSM...promote the losers so Hillary has the best shot, and deny a conservative any chance to get his point across. Ted did fantastic under the constraints and this agenda to use robot iCarly to attack Trump.

Ted is still going to get his message out, he doesn’t need the MSM, he’s running a grassroots campaign like Reagan, he’s rising in the polls after this and all these debates do is prove how much the establishment will pull to get Jeb to lose to HIllary.

Have you ever watched Cruz when he gets rolling? He has an awesome delivery. The Press knows this and shut him down right at the point where it starts to kick in.

These debates mean little to nothing. When the election cycle begins next year with primaries and caucuses, we will little remember or care who got how much time in some old debate from last year.

NPR calculated the amount of time given to each candidate:
Trump: 18:47

Bush: 15:48

Fiorina: 13:30

Carson: 12:56

Cruz: 12:36

Christie: 11:21

Rubio: 10:45

Paul: 10:28

Kasich: 9:44

Huckabee: 9:20

Walker: 8:29

Cruz was the most under-represented, based on poll position. Tappert cut off Cruz and pushed Jeb, Carly and Christie.

But Cruz had the most substance per minute of talk time. Every second was solid.

talk time poll position
Trump: 17:54 1
Bush: 14:19 3
Fiorina: 11:48 8
Carson: 11:22 2
Christie: 11:03 11
Rubio: 10:11 5
Paul: 9:25 7
Cruz: 9:15 4
Kasich: 8:06 10
Huckabee: 8:05 6
Walker: 7:10 9

“wish Cruz would work on coming across as less polished. “

He should dumb down? He is genuine and that sets him apart from the usual “polished” blow-dried focused-grouped, thumb-pointing professional politicians.

“I do notice his delivery probably doesn’t help him.”

Acting too White? ;-)

I agree that Cruz is getting shut out in the airtime race. Here is my summary from an NPR count of the minutes for each candidate in the 2nd debate. It is pretty clear who CNN wanted to highlight - and who they wanted to hide. They stuck Cruz right down there with the 1 Percenters.

My take, these early debates mean nothing to those who are in it for the long haul. With a pack this big you let the barely hanging on hang themselves. You know the old saw:

“ Better to Remain Silent and Be Thought a Fool than to Speak and Remove All Doubt ” ”
