A couple of things up front.
I am a Ted Cruz supporters in word and deed$$$$.
I have no animus towards Donald Trump as some posters (trolls?) have suggested Ted Cruz supporters have.
I have expressed concerns about Trump but Donald has earned his place by solidly outperforming the other candidates with a message that connects, connects solidly with working people like the "Reagan Democrats" of which my father is one.
Trump is 'sucking the air out of other candidates' with media attention focused on him and his poll leads demoralizing supporters of other candidates.
Back in my teenage years (the 1970's) as I listened to radio preachers and conservative commentators, read "Human Events" and "National Review", I came to realize slowly but surely that an intellectual nerdy message would not connect with a mass audience.
"Saturday Night Live" was in vogue back then and I slowly came to believe conservatism needed a more popular presentation of its ideas with comedy and satire.
In spite of the nerdy "beltway conservatives", conservatism would have a chance, a chance because a 'great communicator' with show biz experience was on the stage.
What also helped was the sudden rise of evangelical Christian involvement in politics that would mobilize millions in successive waves between 1980 and 1988 to strengthen the Republican Party.
We were also 'lucky' have a new 'great communicator' named Rush come along to help hold and expand the grassroots support for conservative ideas.
Unfortunately, it was all for nought as the Republican Establishment hijacked the show with fake conservatism originating with Jeb Bush's father who told us 'read my lips, no new taxes'.
Jeb's brother would play with us using his moniker "compassionate conservative" and mobilizing our love of country and our military to fight a vain Vietnam style limited war on terrorism after 9/11.
Jeb is almost certain to follow in his father and brother's footsteps with passionate speeches and even confrontations with liberal media that will be played up by the 'RINOstream media' to the hilt.
He has no other choice to fight Trump with emotionalized fake conservative imaging.
Jeb Bush made a statement the other day saying he doesn't want this country to be 'multicultural', a sure sign of his intention to create what Karl Rove calls 'emotional wedge issues' or in other words fake issues dripping with deceit to take the initiative away from Trump. These fake issues will be pumped up by the pimps at Fox News and other GOPe media outlets.
Now back to Ted Cruz. The air in the room is running out and Ted had better step up to the plate with a powerful message that reaches beyond the intellectuals and even the religious voters, who aren't as committed as they used to be for the Republican Party.
Play to the working people, the "Reagan Democrats", the little people.
On Planned Parenthood funding talk the moral angle, then go on say something like this.
"The rich people like Planned Parenthood. Michael Bloomberg offered to pick up the slack a few years ago when the Susan G. Komen Foundation planned to cut off funding. I understand folks like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are into funding family planning. Our nation is 18 trillion dollars in debt. The taxpayers have given enough. Let the rich people out there that like Planned Parenthood pay for it, not the American people."
And onto religious freedom. How about a speech like this, Ted.
"Big corporations stepped in to shut down religious freedom laws earlier this year in Arkansas and Indiana. The CEO of Wal-Mart, Doug McMillon and the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook were among those trampling First Amendment freedom for those who disagree with gay marriage in this country.
Mr. McMillon cited Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton's notion of 'respect for the individual' in his opposition to a religious freedom. I think 'respect for the individual' should include respect for all individuals, Mr. McMillon, including those who have religious convictions about sexuality.
Another one of Sam Walton's basic beliefs was 'service to the customer' but if the customer wants to buy firearms, Wal-Mart decided recently that its not going to provide service if the customer wants certain firearms. Apparently Mr. McMillon not only has a problem with the First Amendment to our Constitution, but the Second Amendment as well"
Big corporations wanted Obamacare to cut their healthcare costs and the big company healthcare stocks soared because of Obamacare.
Big business also wants open borders to bring in cheap labor.
They need to be torn into.
Nigel Farage's description of the UK political system as 'corporatist' a collusion of 'big banks, big business and big government' needs to be on Ted Cruz's lips in discussing what the political system is like in this country.
Donald Trump tears into people, says controversial things, makes enemies and above all gets noticed.
I think Jeb Bush is now trying to do his own Trump imitation presenting a fake conservative image.
Ted Cruz needs to do the kind of speaking I presented earlier to stand a chance in the room that's running out of oxygen.
I await Ted's decision and am withholding any further financial support until he stands up and fights to steal the ball from Donald Trump.

Cruz has no charisma, don’t know what he can do about that.

Oh, there’s no doubt he’s talented. He’s likable. But I’m the wrong guy to ask. I tuned in one night to what I thought was a news program, but it had an audience and the audience was laughing. It got my attention, because it was a news program with an audience and, here’s the important bit, nothing the news reader said was funny. Periodically, the reader would break the (fifth window?) and look at the camera. I quickly realized it was a late night “comedy” program. I watched for a few minutes, perplexed at the laughter for stuff that wasn’t in the least bit funny. That’s when I noticed applause for agreement rather than laughter.
Incidentally, you might think perhaps I don’t have a sense of humor. Maybe you’re right. But I have written seven novels with the intention they’d be funny and therefore enjoyable.

Eh, I am also on Cruz Control, but I don’t think Cruz has to “wise up”. I think Cruz is doing just fine, as he has been able to remain in the top 5 by continuing to strongly connect with his supporters and keep donations flowing(at least I know I keep giving).
He just has to hold the course until the field thins out enough that candidates get more time to flesh out their records and plans in future debates. He is continuing to regularly take conservative stands on issues and will be able to point to that.

The latest South Park ‘humor’ is a reminder of why Sodom and Gomorrah was wiped from the face of the earth.
Pray for the protection THE DONALD as well as TED CRUZ, BEN CARSON, and all candidates who stand for righteousness.
So you want him to try to commit suicide like all the others who have tried that tactic?

Trump is leading the charge on two issues that Cruz has dropped the ball. Immigration (Cruz favors increasing H1-B Visas by 500%) and American Jobs (Cruz voted in favor of the TPA to give Obama power to make trade treaties without having to get 2/3 Senate Approval as required by the Constitution. He also dropped the ball on the Iran treaty by bypassing the constitution and voting in favor of the wretched Corker Amendment.
Cruz needs to back off these positions before he tries to go after Trump. Trump will take him down on those issues alone if he points his saber at Trump.
Right now I think they are part of a mutual admiration team. Cruz is running his campaign on the issues that he believes will resonate with the public and Trump is doing the same. In the end it may be a war between the two, but we need to reduce the rest of the pack.
Donald Trump now needs to “seal the deal” by naming names.
No, not the traitors and scallywags in government and media, which are legion, but his “specialists” to implement his programs.
Trump doesn’t know everything about everything, and I think he would admit that (if he could do so without looking weak). He hires specialists and consultants who DO know everything about the issue at hand. How else did Trump cut a swath through the casino market in Atlantic City? His strength was in hotel construction, not casino management.
I suspect the reason why Trump can’t name terrorist leaders is because he plans to hire specialists for that job. He promises “wonderful things” in a number of other fields, from foreign trade to military improvement, but my guess is he won’t be doing all of the hands-on work himself.
So who are you planning to hire, sir? Tell us you want Allen West to serve as Secretary of Defense, and John Bolton as Secretary of State and we’ll follow you into hell. Ask Scott Walker to be your Labor Secretary and Sarah Palin to either run the Department of the Interior or dismantle Energy and you’ll lock up the primaries.
Trump looks good as the head of a big organization but we all know he can’t do it all by himself. Show us your starting lineup, sir. Give us names that we respect.
It is not the message, it is the delivery. They did not call Reagan the “Great Communicator” without reason. He was entertaining to listen to while delivering his conservative message. Rush is another example of someone who has this innate ability. Trump is another. Cruz has everything a good conservative should have except his ability to entertain while delivering his message. I have a public speaking background and unless you can entertain while delivering your message, you will lose many in your audience. Furthermore, it is very hard for someone who is not born with this attribute or flair to manufacture or develop it. Essentially, you either have it or you do not, especially by the time you reach middle age. If all the candidates fell into a level middle ground with regard to this communicating ability, Cruz would be right up there at the top. When you have someone like Trump who excels in communicating, he will naturally suck the air out of the competition.
Trump has it in the bag, barring some cataclysmic event. Cruz has time for another run in the future, if he wants to. He may have decided it’s not possible for him, given the climate of political corruption in the media.
Off the top of my head I can think of two recent instances when Trump talked about Cruz. During the last debate, and during his interview with Colbert. Both times his comments were favorable.
All I wanted to know is if you saw any potential in Jimmy Fallon. I see him as having potential, and some sparks of Johnny Carson caliber humor and class.
Bear in mind:
The determinative event in Cruz’s campaign will be the showdowns in the congress this fall over (mostly) budget bills.
That WILL get him lots of exposure.
How he plans to get an advantage from that is beyond me since the media has always been able to turn ‘moderates’ against whomever doesn’t want to increase government spending and debt.
I assume his non-confrontational behavior plays into whatever strategy for this he has.
I also assume he has a very good strategy because this will be life-or-death for his campaign.
Fascinating to whom? Viewers of the Kardashians?
I don’t think that Ted should be something he’s not. He is young, and can run again. It may just not be his destiny at this point in time. Trump uses the bully pulpit in this age of PC, biased media and corrupt government like no one else can. There is a reason, a time for every season.
I await Ted’s decision and am withholding any further financial support until he stands up and fights to steal the ball from Donald Trump.

If. Sen. Cruz does indeed shut down the government over Planned Parenthood funding, you (and millions of other conservatives) will get your wish.
That will be his seminal moment. It will be strongly opposed by Dems and Repugs alike.
It will be wonderful.

We are a long LONG way away from “election time”. What is done here and now will be forgotten by the time the primaries begin.
Cruz just needs to hang in there for another few months when a few more dozen RINO’s drop out. He will then do well in the next debate again and get more focus.
It’s a long way to go, staying in the game is important right now.
Cruz will be VP if Trump wins next November. Then it’s easy for Cruz in 2020 or 2024. The goal is to at least stop the bleeding NOW. Cruz can’t get it on his own now.
I’ve been a bit surprised by the lack of traction that Cruz has gotten. Probably too intellectual for the voters.
