Will Pope Francis' rhetoric slow conservatives' conversion to Catholicism?
WilliamIII | Sept 27 2015 | WilliamIII

Since the heydey of Pope John Paul II's pontificate, there has been a significant phenomenon in the US of politically and/or culturally conservative people converting to Catholicism.

With the current pope's politically liberal rhetoric, will we see fewer of these conversions?

Also, it's interesting that talking about global warming has proved to be a pretty effective way to get the media to stop focusing on pedophile-coverup scandals. You don't suppose that's part of the strategy, do you?

True; but I’ve never seen an evangelical or a Jew called “trash” on this site. Never.

i always refer to chuck schumer as trash....i was actually in the streets of NYC with a bunch of Jews protesting the iran “agreement” and they were also calling him trash...i see people on this site continually mocking liberal Jews and liberal blacks- and with good reason!!!

If this is true, then why is calling upon COUNTRIES to take in these refugees - most of them muslim - in a time when muslims are murdering Christians by the bushel?

PEOPLE should take in refugees. Countries should ask their citizens whether they should spend public dollars to take in refugees.

This was Ayn Rand’s point - When a country does it, it isn’t charity - it’s tyranny. All forced charity is tyranny.

When you drop your dime on the plate THAT IS CHARITY. When you drop my dime and everyone else’s dime on the plate, that’s not charity.

Funny he didn’t point out that the Saudis have taken in ZERO of their muslim brothers and sisters. Same with the Emirates, Egypt, and Jordan. Only the West should have to cough up at the point of a gun because some idiot in a white yarmulke says it’s God’s will. 7 x 70 should be the punishment for that.

That’s not calling Jews - as a people or a religion - trash. You are singling out some individuals and calling them trash.

Understand Pope’s viewpoint is to bring people to Heaven, why wouldn’t he want immigrants to go to Christian countries.

I understand the moral reasons. I also understand the economic reasons. The Pope wants us to work together, and the giver benefits the most.

The Pope is still suggesting, and not forcing.

You have to squint awfully hard to see that message in what the Pope’s been saying.

Awfully hard.

. Depressing to read Catholics being called “trash.”

Consider the source and then rejoice!!!!! The trash definers are the ones trying, desperately, to justify their positions and we well know that it can't be done.

In spite of all the cr*p that goes on earth, it would be worthwhile if we all get to Heaven.

“So do you finally admit that we currently have a bad pope?”

There has to be something wrong with you. I knew from the time he was elected he would be problematic. What then do you mean by “finally”? The only way somehow could use that word is if they ignored what I have posted in the past.

Unlike you I am correct and accurate in my assessments. I always call it as it is. All you do is see EVERYTHING that Pope Francis does or says negatively even if there isn’t anything negative about a particular thing he has done or said. I don’t do that. I merely try to get things right each and every time rather than commit one error after another as you do. I, unlike you, do not focus all of my time and energy on one drumbeat - beating on Pope Francis - as if there is nothing else in the world.

I wonder what you’ll do when he is no longer pope. He’ll either step down or die in a few years. What will you focus all your time and energy on then? Whatever it is, if it’s something Catholic, I’m sure you’ll still make repeated mistakes.

Nope, he is a man just like the rest of us....if he is a believer in global warming....so be it, I don't care. He lived all his live in a predominantly socialist "utopia" where nothing ever went wrong....we live in an evil capitalist hole where nothing is equal and we hate the poor....I'll take the U.S. over Argentina every day.....soon he will too.

Are you even a Catholic? Have you ever heard of the Vicar of Christ?

P.S. Nobody is talking about the global warming hoax on this thread.
