Will Pope Francis' rhetoric slow conservatives' conversion to Catholicism?
WilliamIII | Sept 27 2015 | WilliamIII

Since the heydey of Pope John Paul II's pontificate, there has been a significant phenomenon in the US of politically and/or culturally conservative people converting to Catholicism.

With the current pope's politically liberal rhetoric, will we see fewer of these conversions?

Also, it's interesting that talking about global warming has proved to be a pretty effective way to get the media to stop focusing on pedophile-coverup scandals. You don't suppose that's part of the strategy, do you?

Any parish run by the FSSP or the ICKSP, both are Latin Mass orders.

I seriously have to rethink my participation here.

If you read Catholic saints and theologians, and the writings of past popes, you will see that they sound absolutely nothing like anti-Catholic "conservatives" of FR... "conservatives" who, to me, sound more like Ayn Rand and Ragnar Redbeard. For example, this is the Canticle of the Sun, by St. Francis of Assisi. It was written 800 years ago. This is the language of the Church, not what we read on FR.

Most high, all powerful, all good Lord! All praise is yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing. To you, alone, Most High, do they belong. No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce your name.

Be praised, my Lord, through all your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day; and you give light through him. And he is beautiful and radiant in all his splendor! Of you, Most High, he bears the likeness.

Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens you have made them, precious and beautiful.

Be praised, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which you give your creatures sustenance.

Be praised, My Lord, through Sister Water; she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure.

Be praised, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom you brighten the night. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong.

Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us, and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs.

Be praised, my Lord, through those who forgive for love of you; through those who endure sickness and trial. Happy those who endure in peace, for by you, Most High, they will be crowned.

Be praised, my Lord, through our Sister Bodily Death, from whose embrace no living person can escape. Woe to those who die in mortal sin! Happy those she finds doing your most holy will. The second death can do no harm to them.

Praise and bless my Lord, and give thanks, and serve him with great humility.

Pope Francis plans on cutting down even further on his automobile carbon emissions (which he believes lead to global warming), by switching to this even newer popemobile:

He's not a pope. He's an Anti-Pope.

Pope John Paul II was ridiculed daily on FR. I know because I was reading FR at the time.

Hater's gonna hate I suppose.

“No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce your name.”

Hmmm...then we have a problem because the Bible admonishes us with “mortal lips” to actually call upon His name and to praise his name! You see, to call upon his name is the only way those of us with “mortal lips” can, in fact, be made worthy!

could care less...if people are leaving or entering the church because of a single human and not because of God they’re fools...

i laughed at liberals who left the church because of this priest or that Pope...i’d do the same about anyone else..

i’m a practicing Catholic and a conservative...i’ll still practice and go to church but have no trepidation telling people i think this pope is a coward...

Why would I stop going to Mass? Because we have a pope who’s doing/saying things we don’t like?

Why would I deny myself the Sacrament of Holy Communion? Of Confession? I can only speak for myself but I ONLY attend Mass because I receive Our Lord, Jesus Christ there. I find His Peace there.

Who would be harmed if I stayed home from Mass? I would.

History is replete with great popes, bad popes & the rest in between. I have serious issues with the current Pope. That being said, I’m not going to Mass because of him. I go to Mass to receive Jesus Christ. Peace :)

Yes, American Catholics seem to love this Pope:

Whatever.

Obviously the entire Catholic church is really just turning into a racket of scoundrels and enablers. Where that series of motions to go through is far more important than taking a stand against the governing body that isn’t even interested in promoting what you think that church actually believes in.
