Gowdy Responds To Fired Benghazi Committee Staffer’s Claims That Investigation Is ‘Partisan’

A former Benghazi Committee staffer who says he was fired, in part, because he complained about a “partisan investigation” aimed at former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton had ample opportunity to raise his concerns over the past few month but did so only recently in order to help his forthcoming lawsuit, according to committee chairman Trey Gowdy.

“I was fired for going on military service and I was fired for trying to conduct an objective, non-partisan, thorough investigation,” the staffer, Bradley Podliska, told CNN in an interview that aired Sunday.

______

In a lawsuit to be filed next month, Podliska, an intelligence officer in the Air Force Reserve, claims his firing in June came after he questioned the committee’s focus on Clinton and because he requested a 39-day leave fulfill his military service requirements in Germany.

______

But Podliska, who began working for the committee as an intelligence investigator in Sept. 2014, only brought up the Clinton angle on Friday when he granted interviews to CNN and The New York Times to discuss his lawsuit against the committee, according to Gowdy.

“Until his Friday conversations with media, this staffer has never mentioned Secretary Clinton as a cause of his termination, and he did not cite Clinton’s name in a legally mandated mediation,” Gowdy said, adding that Podliska has not produced “documentary proof” that his termination was tied to the focus on Clinton.

Podliska’s claims have served as fodder for the Clinton campaign which has asserted that Gowdy’s investigation is politically-motivated. Those accusations gained steam earlier this month when House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy praised the committee’s work for contributing to Clinton’s slide in the polls.

In his interviews, Podliska said that after the discovery of Clinton’s off-the-books email server in early March, the committee resources were diverted away from a comprehensive investigation into the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi to focusing more on Clinton.

He also requested leave to complete reserve duties in Germany — an announcement that Podliska claims caused resentment among his colleagues and superiors.

With the discovery of Clinton’s mysterious email system, the investigation deemphasized “the other agencies that were involved in the Benghazi attacks and the aftermath of the attacks,” said Podliska.

“I knew that we needed to get to the truth to the victims’ families. And the victims’ families, they deserve the truth — whether or not Hillary Clinton was involved, whether or not other individuals were involved,” Podliska, an intelligence officer in the Air Force Reserve, told CNN’s Jake Tapper.

We don’t know what TG knows. Hopefully he’s setting a trap.

He cut his teeth as a prosecutor under Democrat U.S. Attorney Pete Strom, for starters. He is an over-achiever in critical thinking, which is something all progressives flunk. He is superb at analyzing testimony, and subsequently piles a whale of a whipping on disingenuous flacks, most of whom are liberal/progressive.

[Participating in a partisan investigation didn’t bother Her Thighness when she was a Watergate staffer.]
Just one little correction:

Participating in a partisan investigation didn’t bother Her Thighness before she was fired for being an unethical lawyer as a Watergate staffer.

Can anyone name ONE single Trey Gowdy “accomplishment” besides being a good talker?

Thank you.

None of these committees ever amount to damn thing. They just drag on forever and accomplish nothing.

We had IRS big-wigs taking the 5th and irrefutable proof of blatant law-breaking shown on national TV during one of these "committees," yet not a single person was charged or prosecuted.

This is one reason why people are so angry. Our laws don't matter, unless you're un-famous. Clinton should be before a grand jury, not another f***ing committee.

Yes, he doesn’t cower under media or public criticism. He’s an atypical republican.

You’re right, and I think Trey Gowdy is always several steps ahead of everyone else.

This guy is a total Clinton set up. this is typical operation procedure for them..watch and see..when he is under OATH it will change, unless he can LIE and Granny Benghazi promises him a Pardon.

Fifth Amendment has worked pretty well for them so far.

He never lost a case as prosecutor. Mind like a steel trap. And how is anyone’s record against Bambi’s royal highnass? Want to duke it out?

Sounds like the little wienie is “partisan” himself and didn’t like where the investigation was leading.

I would not be surprised to see the Dems walk off the committee and for Hillary to refuse to testify claiming a partisan witch hunt. Hillary can’t go in front of the committee. There are too many questions she cannot answer.

I’m wondering why he would want to leave an actual important endeavor—the Benghazi investigation—to go do some mickey-mouse reserve military duty which is usually just make-work baloney. I am sure he could have been recused from such duty at least temporarily.

Hillary would face serious legal ramifications were she to walk out.

I think she could be put under arrest.

Those nasty democrats are free to leave.

Scene building in my estimation. Painting him as some kind of patriot in this hero manufacturing sham.

“Any chance that this pig is a Hillary operative?”

Better odds on that versus Jeb getting the nomination.

When I had my clearance in the 1960’s, anyone with a name like “Podliska” probably would not have a TS clearance.

What does someone in the reserves know about CIA operations in a country half way around the world?
