Well, that’s pretty much an admission that the molestation accusations were true as well, isn’t it?

Yes.

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert on Thursday reached a plea deal in a criminal case involving charges that he paid $3.5 million is hush money to cover up wrongdoing from decades ago as a high school teacher in Illinois.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin ordered Hastert to enter the guilty plea at 9 a.m. on Oct. 28, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

Sources previously told POLITICO on Wednesday that it is likely the deal will include more than a year in prison for violating a federal banking law because he withdrew $900,000 to pay someone in an effort to cover up past misconduct.

If he says he did all of this because he was being blackmailed...I don’t see how the court can dump any real jail time on the guy. Maybe there’s some stupid fine, but he’s ultra rich from his days in Congress and can afford some $50,000 fine. I mean be serious....why would you mess with some guy who is the blackmail victim....other than some stupid law invented to prevent huge cash movements?

Hastert was the “shot across the bow” to the GOP-e from Obama.
There are more of these in leadership rolls in Congress.

I never understood the internal support for “Log Cabin Republicans” till now.

crap, rat deadline...He’s not being charged with paying hush money. Charges = evading currency reporting requirements and lying to the FBI.

It is an admission that he lied to Federal investigators. What he did (payola) wasn’t a crime as I understand it. His depraved moral failings aside, they got him cold on the lying.

If they really want to get you there is always something they can charge you with.
Which is ironic when they let Hillary get away with so much.

He deserves to be punished for his boy-raping, not some stupid and probably unconstitutional banking law. Whatever, maybe he can be cellies with Blago.

There's still something about this whole matter that confuses me. First, this was not about exposing Hastert for his actions..rather, it was about getting a financial settlement.

This way, the victim exposes himself to possible charges of blackmail/extortion, and if he does get the money, he owes income taxes on it, and is liable to the IRS if he doesn't report it.

Instead..why not hire an atty..who is bound by confidentially. Lawyer draws up a suit.. contacts Hastert's atty..they meet, work out the settlement..draw up the document..with non-disclosure language..Hastert cuts a check..legally...and I'm pretty sure that income from a civil settlement is not subject to income tax..and everyone's happy, and nobody else knows anything..

It would look that way, but may not necessarily be true. He would have to explain why he paid blackmail money rather than fight the charge though or that will certainly be the impression. People plead guilty all the time to things they didn’t do, in order to avoid a greater risk incurred by fighting and possibly losing. See for instance the Alford plea; so common the tactic has a name.

I never liked Hastert and don’t have any opinion whether he did it or not. But pleading guilty to one charge doesn’t prove a separate offense.

To be blunt about it, I think the Obamunists have something like this on a certain drunk who can’t make up his mind and cries a lot in the House of Representative.

Here’s the takeaway from this whole story”

Our money is not our own.

A friend of mine got into this situation because he withdrew $9500 from his bank account. He was wanting to use it to buy items in CASH to get a better deal.

The bank turned his name over to the Feds and they pounced on him. After having to prove everything he did and who knows how much in attorney fees they finally dropped the charges against him.

Innocent until proven guilty? Pffft.... that went down the tubes a long time ago. I hate these people. Nothing but thieves and tyrants.

Saving her until the time is right and needed.

Right now she’s someone who takes the camera off obama letting us trash her for him and what’s going on under the radar, altho that radar has gotten pretty transparent.

Once again where are the charges of Blackmail against the person that was blackmailing Hassert?

Why hasn’t this person been identified and charged?
