Regarding Google's malware database and malware warnings on FR
October 27, 2015 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 10/27/2015 5:21:09 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Basically, it's full of crap. Apparently, they have two issues with FR. One is that a user (a long-time user not a hacker) posted a link to an image that (unknown to him) resides on a site google has registered in their database as a malware site. We've pulled the post and notified google. Have no idea when they'll stop flagging us.

The other is that we have links to aim.org. NSS. Aim is a conservative site. Have no idea how many, but I'm sure we've had hundreds or even thousands of links posted to aim.org. We're not going to pull them.

Why google is apparently randomly flagging unrelated threads on FR I have no idea. Your guess is good as mine.

But it's not just google Chrome. Any browser that relies on google's database is doing this.

If you want to stop these erroneous and obnoxious warning messages immediately, you can set a browser option to ignore such warnings. Your virus protection software will catch any real viruses.

Thank you all very much for notifying me. I've received dozens and dozens of these already. Sorry, cannot answer each one individually.

I’m using Google Chrome and I haven’t seen a single issue.

Thanks for the info Jim. Their being so obnoxious is why Bing is my search engine of choice. :)

I have Google Chrome and McAfee. Could this have something to do with me getting popups from McAfee right over where I’m reading and won’t go away, just to tell me “this is a safe site”? FR is my homepage.

I see what’s going on here now. Just got the dreaded red warning and had to back out. Glad my post went through.

My first reaction was it was a tactic employed by liberals in some way to trash Free Republic

Liberals are such tolerant, inclusive people. Such behavior goes right against the grain for them. No way they'd ever do anything like that to a conservative website.

do I really need the sarc tag?

Guess I better bookmark aim and have it as a main source on my toolbar, too.

This is just wacky. Impugning an entire blog because it has some links to malware sites or in some cases links to sites that link to malware sites. Liberal shenanigans?

The current "StopBadWare.org" links list for AIM.com & FR (AIM is currently clean & FR has 4 links listed): AIM List FR List In the specific case of the "http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3156744/posts" link, it links to "http://buffalobeast.com" which used to be blacklisted for malware links. Hopefully Jim's "clean-up" along with AIM's clean-up will soon clear their listings by Google.

Never mind conservative, I don’t know how anyone calling themselves a patriot can use anything “GOOGLE” related.

Dittos. Google hasn't been my default search engine for years, because of crap just like this.

I’m running Internet Explorer 11.0 and can see FreeRepublic with no problems. Of course, I did make sure the malware protection definitions with Norton Internet Security Version 22.5.4.24 (I believe this is NIS 2015 version) are all up to date, though.

I hope google, et al. will back off.

For months two of my FR thread postings containing federal (FBI and DOJ) crime statistics and surveys came out number one and two on google if you searched for

LEOKA ARD

acronyms for Law enforcement officers killed assaulted and Arrest-related deaths.

The FBI and DOJ data show that the race grievance industry, the Obama-Holder demagogues, and MSM employees are lying about crime. Now the threads are flagged as "dangerous."

So are my recent Constitution and Amendments threads but they do not show up in google searches anywhere near the top.

So I can just ignore the warnings.. but it ain't me I'm worried about. People will be scared off from the the facts.
