Rep. Paul Ryan Elected Speaker of the House

Wisconsin Republican Rep. Paul Ryan was elected on Thursday to serve as the next speaker of the House — a vote that followed weeks of uncertainty and came on the heels of the House passage of a sweeping two-year bipartisan budget deal.

Ryan is expected to call for a renewed effort to make the House function as a great deliberative body again. And he asked members to put the concerns of working families front and center.

"We have nothing to fear from honest differences honestly stated," Ryan was expected to say in prepared remarks. "If you have ideas, let's hear them. A greater clarity between us can lead to a greater charity among us."

Ryan is also expected to underscore the need for a larger vision behind the House's day-to-day work and called for all members to rise to the occasion.

Ryan was officially nominated for Speaker of the House by GOP Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers. His family was seated in the House Chamber in the "Executive Gallery" which is where the First Lady sits during the State of The Union.

In a speech in which John Boehner poked fun at himself for his trademark weepiness and sentimentality, the outgoing House Speaker said "I leave with no regrets, no burdens."

Prepare. Then refuse to comply. Defy them.

They will punish you. They will impoverish you. They will threaten and coerce.

Still we must refuse them.

Then they and their agents will come.

And we will know what to do.

They do not fear We The People anymore. A time is soon coming when they will make their last mistake, and hopefully they will again learn to fear We The People.

However, I am not ignorant of how much of our population is comfortable with tyranny, nor how fast we are being replaced by third world aliens being granted voting rights (as I type this no less).

Time is not on our side, but we simply have to decide whether or not we are willing to be on our knees or on our feet.

Perhaps, in a vain bit of hope, if Mordor on the Potomac wakes up to realize that a significant portion of the population is preparing for war against them - perhaps that is enough to cause them to relent.

But I doubt it. 1.6 billion rounds of hollow point ammo being stockpiled by DHS does not give me the warm fuzzies that those ruling us have any intention of doing anything else but subjugating us - by force if we refuse to bend the knee.

Lets see how long that lasts.

Years ago when a bunch of us were whining about what a jerk the boss was and he should be replaced, an old timer said getting rid of the boss could mean a worse one replacing him.

Throughout my work life, I seen it happen several times.

Same applies to Speaker.

“If you have ideas, let’s hear them”

Didn't Boehner say the same thing at his inauguration?

Ah yes …. here it is:

“Above all else, we will welcome the battle of ideas, encourage it, and engage in it – openly, honestly, and respectfully"

Funny - Boehner also said:

"We will dispense with the conventional wisdom that bigger bills are always better; that fast legislating is good legislating; that allowing additional amendments and open debate makes the legislative process ‘less efficient’ than our forefathers intended."

He also said the following pile of steaming bovine excrement:

"Legislators and the public will have three days to read bills before they come to a vote. Legislation will be more focused, properly scrutinized, and constitutionally sound. Committees, once bloated, will be smaller, with a renewed mission, including oversight. Old rules that have made it easy to increase spending will be replaced by new reforms that make it easier to cut spending."

Methinks our new 'boss' is the same as the 'old boss'.

A headline from Ryan's 2013 Budget Agreement that he personally authored:

Disabled Military Retirees Not Exempt from Pension Cuts in Budget Deal

That's right. Paul Ryan wrote legislation that cut pensions for men who had their limbs blown off in combat. It was overturned after public outrage, but Ryan fought hard to keep the cuts (to both disabled and non-disabled veterans).

Here is my take on Paul Ryan as Speaker:

My first act as Speaker will be more cuts to disabled veterans! Nothing sticks in my craw like these supposed "heroes" who fought and bled for this nation. They think they are so "special."

I am sorry - but Paul Ryan will forever be a traitor to me. He can never recover from his shameful acts and behavior.

for now...

If McCarthy goes, and is replaced with someone who has less skeletons, I will be content.

That is until the skeletons in another closet begin to shake rattle and roll...

“And he asked members to put the concerns of working families front and center.”

That’s really funny stuff. The first thing Ryno & Co. did was change the house rules, making it more difficult to oust the speaker, following the Boehner Rebellion.
We elected a Politboro.

Oh, and Reince Preibus and Paul Ryno are both Wisconsinites and both pride themselves on their fund raising abilities.
Let’s wait and see how that works out for them ... and that reminds me, I need to stop at a construction site and pick up some more electrical box slugs.
Heh

Daniel Webster or Marsha Blackburn would have been better.

It really ticks me off to have fought so hard during the 2010 and 2014 elections to see what our efforts have wrought.

We STILL have a long way to go.

“”We’re not solving problems, we’re adding to them,” Ryan said, declaring that going forward: “We are not settling scores. We are wiping the slate clean.””

Not even God just wipes a slate clean without a repentance. We don’t want scores settled unless a law has been broken and justice (true justice) has to be established. The court system needs to be cleaned out first. Otherwise its just another day in Sodom and Gomorrah.

The only way I would vote for Jebbie is if he were running against Hillary. No hack here, just going with what we have until he can show me he is not willing to lead. I doubt I will agree with all his decisions while I doubt you will agree with anything he does. Look in the mirror, you might see the “Hack”. Maybe use your spell checker going forward.

Well you can always write your representative and tell them to vote for Pelosi next time around !!

You can always call Ryan and ask him to cut vet benefits again. He’s a progressive K Street Republican with no interest in Main Street. Sorry.

Sadly I think you are correct. Last summer I talked to a lovely young black lady who is a friend of the family getting ready to turn 18 and amazingly she veers well into the conservative point of view already despite her family living on welfare and an aunt raising her who would vote for Lenin if he were running as a Democrat. She has seen the race baiting, vote buying and gets the liberal plantation trap set for her and anyone who wonders into their sphere of influence. I hated to tell her on the national level her vote means nothing as we are no longer a republic.

I encouraged her to stay engaged in local and state elections and to look for conservative candidates and don’t ever assume the (R) in front of their names means conservative or small government, odds are it doesn’t. I also encouraged her to continue her education and to realize most of the instructors she will have in college are socialist and don’t have walking around sense. Also I told her when she was old enough and able to, buy a gun and learn how to use it, her generation will need that knowledge someday when it all comes crashing down.

In the process I told her leftist aunt who was present when we were talking congrats: you and your ilk have taken the ballot box if you don’t like a vote just go to a federal judge and overturn it and hell let everyone vote, citizenship what is that. You have taken the jury box judges make law now, not the representatives and if the judges don’t like the law the reps make they overturn it and make their own, and the president if he is a socialist approved you are content for them to break the law or make the law up as you go and now are now working hard on the soap box.

The PC war on free speech and shutting up the opposition would make any tyrant proud. Unfortunately you are leaving 30% or more of the country with only the ammo box and when you come for that there will be blood spilled, once that happens there is no turning back it will be nasty for all involved, she was visibly aghast I said that to her.
