Nungesser should be close to 60%, high 50s on a bad night. Either the polling data is way, way off (and look how bad it was for KY showing Bevin trailing consistently), or Jindal has really poisoned the well for the GOP in LA (coupled with the savage attacks from the usual suspects) with the voters taking it out on Vitter-Nungesser.
Re: Jindal poisoning the well. Republicans pretty much romped in the other statewide offices that didn’t go into runoffs, and I think we even picked up a seat or two in the state House, pending the results of the upcoming runoffs. Even the open primary for governor had Republicans winning around 57% if you count all the candidates together. I don’t think the state would vote for Jindal again, but they seem fine with everyone else, except perhaps for Vitter.
