Kingston Girl Wants To Change Constitution So She Can Run For President
CBS Boston ^ | 10/28/2015 | Staff

BOSTON (CBS) - President Alena Mulhern has a nice ring to it. But the little girl from Kingston can't actually be elected to our nation's highest office. Alena was adopted from China. So since she wasn't a US citizen from birth, the Constitution forbids her from becoming President. She doesn't accept that and Wednesday she took her campaign for change to the State House.

"We should all have the opportunity to run for president," 10 year old Alena Mulhern says as she testifies before a State House committee.

She's not going to let anyone tell her the top job is beyond her reach just because she was born in China.

I wanna change the law so that I can walk into a bank, demand millions, and not be arrested for it

If there is any clause of the Constitution, aside from those regarding slavery, that has been made obsolete by modernity

She has no standing, she is not old enough to run for president.

“Just think of all the great candidates that would not be able to serve our country because of a law that came into existence more than 200 years ago,” she adds.”

No respect for the Constitution. Obviously a student of the O****** school of govt. What respectable news org gives coverage to some pushy 10 year old kid who thinks they know best?

Certain that Slate, and a huge slate of Democrat socialists would agree with your take.
Are you trying to be provocatively contrary an in your stance?

Barry Obola is a perfect example of foreign country’s influence to install a usurper Commander-in-Chief Executive to do their bidding.
He was born of communists, raised and groomed by communists, schooled and funded by muslims.
His actions in office indicate his obvious treasonous loyalties, ie:
“Tell Vladimir I’ll have more flexibility after the election” and “America has always been a Muslim nation”, etc.
And the nation and the whole free world are paying a terrible price.
Some people cannot see the obvious which stares right in front of them.

RE:” Further, it is absurd to think the NBC restriction are an efficacious safeguard against “foreign designs on the Presidency.” If there is any clause of the Constitution, aside from those regarding slavery, that has been made obsolete by modernity, the NBC clause is surely it. Countries with nascent plans to subvert the Presidency simply do not work that way any more.”

Children don’t have the judgement to make decisions on major political issues.

That doesn't stop teachers & Media-types from encouraging kids to voice their opinions. Even when they get old enough to vote it seems like most never aquired any critical thinking skills. It's like talking to a trained parrot.

The Marxists in this country have been trying to do away with the Natural Born Citizen clause in our Constitution for quite some time now.

Why bother, these days its as easy to get a Manchurian candidate born in the US as one from overseas.

Ahem, are you saying that John Jay has less understanding of the Constitution than a ten year old kid?

You are right and with the new standard a natural born citizen doesn’t even have to be born in the USA anymore! All that is required now is that one parent be a US Citizen. All the kids of GIs in Vietnam, Japan, etc are now natural born citizens. Plus all the kids of trophy wives in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, etc are now natural born citizens too. Yup the Marxists have won. Our constitution no longer means what says, words have lost their meaning.

"The Supreme Court will note there has already been a precedent, and hence she should have no problem."

What precedent?

Explain how Ted Cruz is a NBC, born in a foreign land and moving to the U.S. at the age of 4?

In other words, she thinks she's entitled to be President of the Country whose charter she clearly disrespects.

Natural born citizen means a citizen at birth. Cruz was born in Canada but his mother was US citizen by birth and his father a naturalized citizen. That makes Cruz a citizen at birth and eligible for the Presidency.

I was under the impression that his father was NOT a citizen and not apply for citizenship until after Ted was born,,well after. If wrong, I apologize, but I remember reading that..perhaps on FR, I can’t recall the source.

First of all she is an American citizen, just not natural born. She likely has less allegiance to foreign powers than most natural born Americans. Having said that, she is right. She has no constitutional right to be president.

She recognizes the limits the constitution has placed. However, she also recognizes how the founding fathers in their wisdom made amendments possible. Maybe she is looking at that route. This is perfectly reasonable to anyone that supports the constitution.

She may also be looking at how congress has the power to determine what qualifies as natural born. If she can get this modified then she could qualify. Legitimate but ethically questionable. Sort of like all the gun laws to get around the 2nd amendment. Definitely problematic for Constitutionalists, however the founders did leave this discretion to congress.

Now for my opinion (not like it really matters): A child born overseas but adopted by American parents (at least one holding US citizenship at that time) should be considered natural born if their parents seek US citizenship for them prior to their 18th birthday, or if they seek it them-self prior to their 21st.
