Children should be seen and not heard - particularly for ones with political aspirations.
She can always “self identify” as a natural born American.
Ask Obama, with his pad of executive orders, he can fix that constitutional problem, no sweat.
“the Constitution forbids her from becoming President. She doesn’t accept that “
Well. where did she get this attitude? I;m sure it wasn’t some idiot who reads from a teleprompter and thinks there are 57 states...
Bye, Chelsea.
No we shouldn't. Now get back to work, and try to keep the crayon inside the lines.
Sorry Sweetie....
By the time you’re 35 America will be a full blown fascist dictatorship....
Well sh*t! Let’s change the Constitution right now because a 10 year old from China wants to be president.
The Supreme Court will note there has already been a precedent, and hence she should have no problem.
She has a decent argument.
Being natural born citizen has nothing to do with where one was born. It has do with having never had any other other allegiances and knowing nothing but being an American.
Her parents are both American. She has had no other legal parents or citizenship. Known no other society or system than American.
Contrast to Obama who qualifies because his mother was a US citizen, but given his life vs hers, she really fits the reason behind the reasoning behind the provision of being natural born more than Obama.
This is an interesting question.
> She’s not going to let anyone tell her the top job is beyond her reach just because she was born in China.
Yeah? FOAD.
Let little Alena go back to China and run for president there.
Oh, no free elections in China? Well then, tough panda bears, Alena. A Kenyan as president was more than enough.
I thought Kingston was in Jamaica?
Ah, I see that B-HO now has a new feature guest to invite to the next State Of The Union.
I wanna change the law so that I can walk into a bank, demand millions, and not be arrested for it
âJust think of all the great candidates that would not be able to serve our country because of a law that came into existence more than 200 years ago,â she adds.”
No respect for the Constitution. Obviously a student of the O****** school of govt. What respectable news org gives coverage to some pushy 10 year old kid who thinks they know best?
“Um, no.”
Ditto.
First of all she is an American citizen, just not natural born. She likely has less allegiance to foreign powers than most natural born Americans. Having said that, she is right. She has no constitutional right to be president.
She recognizes the limits the constitution has placed. However, she also recognizes how the founding fathers in their wisdom made amendments possible. Maybe she is looking at that route. This is perfectly reasonable to anyone that supports the constitution.
She may also be looking at how congress has the power to determine what qualifies as natural born. If she can get this modified then she could qualify. Legitimate but ethically questionable. Sort of like all the gun laws to get around the 2nd amendment. Definitely problematic for Constitutionalists, however the founders did leave this discretion to congress.
Now for my opinion (not like it really matters): A child born overseas but adopted by American parents (at least one holding US citizenship at that time) should be considered natural born if their parents seek US citizenship for them prior to their 18th birthday, or if they seek it them-self prior to their 21st.
Go and fix China.
