Politico Edits Ben Carson Hit Piece, Drops Claims of ‘Fabrication’
Breitbart ^ | October 6, 2015 | Staff

Politico has rewritten the headline, lede, and several portions of the text of an article accusing Ben Carson of "fabricating" part of his personal biography involving the Military Academy at West Point.

The story, bearing the byline of reporter Kyle Cheney, now omits the original version's declarations that Carson's statements were false or fraudulent, as seen in an archive of the article.

He said in his book he never applied. Just had an informal talk with a general.

“He didn’t say he was an accepted cadet”.

You’re right, but he was not offered a anything, especially by Westmoreland. He said tonight on O’Reilly “some” were saying he could get in easy. Who is “some”, certainly not Gen Westmoreland.
Carson can give 10 interviews in a single day on the same story and it always comes out different. He should try thinking before he opens his mouth or at least have a few notes to look out.

You seem so utterly biased in this matter that you are blinded by you own animus.

Carson did not apply. He was told by the people at the ROTC and others that he could get an appointment for a full four years without him having to pay any tuition, books, housing, etc. and to a kid from the inner city, that translates into scholarship.

Please try and get off your stump. Even Politico, the author’s of this hit piece are backtracking.

There is a movie from the 1990’s or early 2000’s starring Cuba Gooding, jr as Ben Carson and the incident with the knife is in there. If I remember right it was a real turning point in his life and he realized he could have gone to jail but instead became closer to God, got serious about becoming a doctor and learned to control is anger. So that story was already out there, way before he was running for President. Everybody says he's too soft spoken and calm but the movie showed he wasn't always that way and how this incident was one of the ways he came to the realization he was headed in the wrong direction and changed.

You are making a serious accusation here. Do you have any evidence that Dr Carson never met Gen Westmoreland? That no one suggested he would be a shoo-in for West Point?

He was not offered anything. Carson was and is totally ignorant of entrance requirements to service academies. He admitted tonight on O’Reilly that “some” said he could get in easy, so he took that to mean he could get in on a “full scholarship”, and he’s been spouting the same story for the last 40 years. He didn’t mention Westmoreland, but I’m sure if you listen to any of his interviews tomorrow he’ll get around to saying the general personally offered him an appointment to West Point. What makes him look so bad is he can’t keep his story straight. I heard him today ranting and raving about being “picked on” by the media and how it’s not right. He kept nervously looking around like Richard Kimbel on The Fugitive. My wife said “he’s trying to hide something or he wouldn’t look so guilty and mad when talking”.

Not powerful enough and Trump did himself no favors in my eyes by piling on to this one. It is he who is acting like a loser now.

Id like everyone who thinks Carson lied about his “scholarship” offer to West Point to visit the websites for both Annapolis and West Point and look at their tuition costs for their students. (For those of you who are too lazy to get off of Pornhub or Huffington Post, there aren’t any)
Then I want you to consider this: My father was “offered” a full “scholarship” to West Point after he returned home from Italy following WWII. My father turned down this opportunity because he, like Carson, did not want to make the military his career.
He never “applied” to West Point, but he was asked to go there.
There is no record of this “offer” because (as I’ve already stated) he did not apply.
But I honestly defy anyone to call my father - who ended up leaving UVA 2 years in to serve in Korea— a liar.
Ditto, Ben Carson.

Looks like the alternative media is getting more powerful.

Yes. You're right. It just might be the first time that the truth can eek out over the MSM lies.

Honestly, "mainstream" is the wrong word. "Old stream"? "Dried stream"? "Piss Stream"? "Slow Stream"?

...and by the way, getting accepted to West Point isn’t something you get confused about as you get older - it is something you REMEMBER AND CHERISH for a lifetime. If Carson were having trouble remembering his history with West Point, then he’s lost too many brain cells to be allowed anywhere near the White House.>>>

I think ben’s goal was to be a surgeon and he wanted to get to the executive office in ROTC (not sure what that is but it was a goal) not go to west point. He apparently attended a lot of events in that capacity. And a 17 in that capacity seemed to attract alot of attention by a lot of people. and rightly so. but he said he never applied to or was accepted to west point. he wanted to be a surgeon and became one. he has no history with west point to remember. just his desire to be come a surgeon and part of that journey that went thru ROTC.

Why the sarcasm switch.

I hope they don’t have a good insurance policy and lose a huge judgement and it bankrupts them.

I commented on the pyramid stuff on other threads. No matter the outcome on the West Point story, The pyramid stuff is bizarre.

Trump also needs to recognize he was wrong in repeating the story and apologize.

Correction!

Trump didn’t repeat the Polutico story. He said nothing about West Point in his interview. Trump merely talked about what Carson has said about himself (that he’d attacked people with a knife and a hammer).
