Ben Carson’s Past Faces Deeper Questions

In his 1990 autobiography, “Gifted Hands,” Mr. Carson writes of a Yale psychology professor who told Mr. Carson, then a junior, and the other students in the class—identified by Mr. Carson as Perceptions 301—that their final exam papers had “inadvertently burned,” requiring all 150 students to retake it. The new exam, Mr. Carson recalled in the book, was much tougher. All the students but Mr. Carson walked out.

“The professor came toward me. With her was a photographer for the Yale Daily News who paused and snapped my picture,” Mr. Carson wrote. “ ‘A hoax,’ the teacher said. ‘We wanted to see who was the most honest student in the class.’ ” Mr. Carson wrote that the professor handed him a $10 bill.

No photo identifying Mr. Carson as a student ever ran, according to the Yale Daily News archives, and no stories from that era mention a class called Perceptions 301. Yale Librarian Claryn Spies said Friday there was no psychology course by that name or class number during any of Mr. Carson’s years at Yale

The persona of a religious humble man has been Dr. Carson's narrative as a candidate. The embellishments, lies, mis-statements (whatever) negate that. Careful methodical surgeon who hasn't carefully researched his facts from the past? Doesn't fit.

The excuse that had me saying "enough" was the fake names of those he claims to have viciously attacked. If fake names are used and passed off as real, that's supposed to be acknowledged as part of the work.

And now we've got all of the posters who seem to be "anyone but Trump" in what they've posted, and some new or infrequent posters, chiming together "blame the media". Weren't those same people okay when the media was scrutinizing Trump?

The left always lets you know whom they fear...

Why would the left fear Carson? He’s a left of center candidate!

We don't even know if Obama took a class!

And I could tell you about lots of classes I took and things that happened in college, don't know if there’d be records.

Hell, I had an prof who broke down and cried on my shoulder saying that he had cheated on his wife with a friend of mine! He was so sorry! His wife had left him and the girl wouldn't talk to him— he did this in the classroom after telling me to stay behind. And then asked me out! I just said I needed to go and ran out! Never mentioned it to anyone... Got an A in the class and never got called on to answer another question.

The early Christians met on the first day of the week because Christ rose on the first day.

The Sabbath day was created for the Jews.

There is no Scriptural authority for that position.

Actually there is,, the early Christians met on Sunday not Sat.

Now, it really doesn't matter when Christians meet, but the 7th Day Adventists hold that one MUST meet on Saturdays as part of the Sabbath.

I gave you two verses that show the early church meeting on Sunday.

The Sabbath is for the Jews, not the Church (Exodus 31:13)

Although I believe there are SDA churches that meet on Sundays now. And Carson has said he spends as much time in non houses of worship outside his denomination that this doesn’t seem like a big issue for him.

Personally, I don’t support Carson - never did because of his 2nd Amendment thoughts and Amnesty.

Regardless, I think by penning an autobiography at the ripe old age of 39 (born 1951 and wrote it in 1990) is a stupid thing to do myself, especially if you have even an inkling of politics.

My only comment is that now Carson and/or his campaign will have to go back and tell us the intent and meaning of all those things he’s provided for his opposition in his own words. A daunting task that.

Mean while Hillary gets a pass on violating her State Department security contract? I am sure after these cracker jack reporters get on that as soon as their through parsing Ben Darwin’s book right? Oh where are the stories and investigation into Hillary for being fired from the Watergate committee for lying and unethical behavior?

The media is scumsucking bullies. I was watching TMZ the other day because Korie Robertson was on there talking about her book. She was on skype. Harvey and his buddy, the black guy with the dreads, were bullying Korie and trying very hard to get her to say something bad about the Kartrashians....until her husband Willie put his head in the camera shot. They backed off so fast it was comical. Pretty typical of cowards.

The new exam, Mr. Carson recalled in the book, was much tougher. All the students but Mr. Carson walked out.

In my opinion this level of scrutiny is an unwarranted distraction because it has little or nothing to do with Dr. Carson's qualifications to serve as POTUS.

Where was or is the like investigations of our current President, Barrack Obama? What if Barrack Obama is a fraud? What would that do to all the Executive Orders he signed? What would that do to the legislation he signed?

Dr. Carson is far better qualified to lead our country.

Maybe the industry needs to take a time out and reorder its mission, methods, motives, priorities, and honesty. Or have we been "dumbed down" too far on that slippery slope?

I make no excuses for the media. We all know, and have known for DECADES about their bias and duplicity. Yes, if they were doing their job as unbiased investigators and truth tellers, they’d be looking into Hillary et al.

That’s why I think his writing an autobiography at age 39 is probably going to bite him in the end. And, yes, I also realize the exact same thing was what Barack Hussein did - Twice if I recall correctly. It’s the nature of the game with the media today - they lie.

Christians are supposed to worship every day. Requiring Christians to keep a day as the Sabbath is not scriptural, but if you are going to make that error Saturday is at least the right day.

Romans 14:5-10 NKJV
One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. [6] He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. [7] For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. [8] For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. [9] For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. [10] But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Colossians 2:16-17 NKJV
So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, [17] which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

Thanks, Shortstop, for telling the truth. The long knives are out for this man - for the reasons you cite - and Freepers, like lemmings, are following the media over the cliff. I’m not voting for him either but I’ll be damned if I’ll go along with this.

We need Ben for the laughs. This, the pyramids, the new pandering urban radio rap ads and the cooked polls showing him ahead are the comedy relief of this campaign season.

Next he'll be doing MC Hammer knockoffs, if they can keep him awake long enough.

(well, that whole hammer thing might be a little too close to home)

>> the guy is a walking disaster area as a candidate.

That’s it for me.

It’s not any one incident — it’s the preponderance of ALL the incidents that point to a character of embellishment.

And there’s a clear motive — sell his nine books. I understand that, and I understand that he’s far from the only one who has done that. MOST authors probably do it.

Carson is not evil. Far from it — he is a good man and he has been a blessing in the lives of countless others. On balance, he has done more good with HIS life than I have with mine. (Thank GOD we’re both forgiven!)

But Ben Carson is not the best candidate for President in these troubled times, when we’re struggling to recover the soul of America. (Ted Cruz is. Donald Trump is acceptable.) His positions and ideals do not match what this country needs. His temperament does not match what this country needs. The final serious problem: in my opinion, Carson doesn’t have a prayer of defeating spawn of satan Hillary clintoon. She’ll beat him like a rented mule in the general.

I’d like to see Ben Carson leave the race as soon as possible along with about eight to ten others. I’m not the least bit ashamed of that position. If he clings to his false hope by his fingernails and they have to be pried away by a nasty press, then so be it.
