Poll: Trump Surges to 42% Nationally; ‘Bad News for Marco Rubio’

In the Reuters/Ipsos 5-day tracking poll that samples 534 Republicans, over the last week, Donald Trump has surged to a massive national lead in the GOP presidential primary. Currently, the billionaire businessman sits at 42% with likely Republican primary voters. His closest competitor is Ben Carson, who sits at just below 25%.

Last week both men were pretty much tied up at around 25%. That is a 17 point surge for Trump.

Among all Republicans, Trumps enjoys a 34% to 20% lead over Carson.

Reuters adds that this “is also bad news for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who is widely considered to be emerging as the establishment-backed alternative to Trump.”

Rubio remains stuck at 10%.

That should happen anytime now, with the Paris ISSA terrorism, all Trump has to do is to drive this home in all his speeches and debates.........stay off the small stuff.

Only important thing is Defending America from all foreign and domestic enemies.......and there is a huge parcel of them already here......Scare the crap out of voters.

Even the meekest among those voters will/should see the necessity of a Mighty Defense. Carson would not pull the trigger you know.

My only advice to Trump would be drop the criticism of Carson and start criticizing Clinton, his eventual challenger. There is a lot of material to use against her.

He's all but there now. If this most recent poll is accurate, it came out before the ISIS attacks on Paris, which means that the next set of polls will most likely see a further increase in support for Trump because except for Cruz, no other candidates are perceived as being tough on illegals, seeking to enforce our laws and borders, and the American people do NOT want what happened in Paris happening here at home.

I also expect Trump and Cruz to leave the others behind quickly now. They can rightly point to France as a nation which didn’t adequately control its borders, and which didn’t take sufficient precautions to prevent radical Islamists from entering the country in the first place. 11/13/15 is a date that Trump and Cruz need to keep before the electorate, and frankly, both of them need to keep the recklessness of Muslim lover Obaaaaaaama as a constant reminder of liberal incompetence. Conservatives have continually said that Democrats are weak on national defense and domestic security. That view is tragically validated more and more.

Mr. Trump is the only one to be mad as hell BEFORE yesterday's slaughter in Paris. He's the only one who's saying focus on destroying ISIS and keeping illegals out of countries where they don't belong.

I'm in the Cruz camp, but will defend Trump because there is an orchestrated campaign to take him out.

I think he can safely drop criticism of Carson, and start publicly linking Clinton to the Muslim Brotherhood, and ISIS. From now until the election, the radical Islamists will not fail to keep their savagery in the news, and Trump should start the drum beat now and keep PIAPS with a wig on defense.
