Ted Cruz won’t rule out legalization for illegal immigrants
Hot Air ^ | 11/21/2015

"If we put in place a strong E-Verify system and deport criminal illegal aliens, the number of people here illegally will drop significantly, particularly if there's not a continual flow of people coming in illegally," Cruz said.

"At that point, once we've demonstrated that we can solve the problem, then we can have a conversation about what to do about whatever people remain illegally," Cruz added. When asked if that conversation included the potential for a pathway to legal status, he repeated, "We can have that conversation with the American people once we secure the border."

Spending billions of dollars to deport illegals ( which Congress will never fund anyway), then expediting their re entry to the country is just a very expensive and round about way of legalization.

There’s that can’t do attitude!

If I know Trump, Mexico will be paying for the return trip, for those that don’t leave on their own (after welfare and jobs dry up). And, no, it’s not a ‘round about way of legalization’, when/if they return. They’ll have gone through a strict screening and check in process, as opposed to just walking on over, ollie in come free.

*************

There is no difference in the legality of someone re entering the country by expedited means and someone being issued a green card. They are still both legal.

No, see above. They’ll be legal to stay and work, as long as they’re productive, law abiding, checking in and then they can stay permanently, once they’ve applied for citizenship....in the same line as the others.

Will that line be expedited? You betcha. Because all of the red tape that’s involved now will be removed, and productive, skilled people will be on a much faster track to become productive (not welfare dependent) citizens.

Easy peasy. Especially if you look at what Trump has been able to get Congress to act on, already, without even being in office.

Look at Kentucky, you have Dem reps jumping ship and becoming Pubbies. They see the writing on the Trump Wall ;-)

I’m not buying any hype....you know as well as others on here I have been a Trump 100% supporter from the beginning...

I like Trump’s plan better, it’s safer, and we can weed them out...if they REALLY want to come back to the U.S. then they will be coming back LEGALLY...I like that...

I’m not going to bash Cruz, but I’m not going to back down on any of my reasons for supporting Trump either...

Don’t buy into the hype. Cruz is all for deportation and he has it prioritized. We can be thankful that we have two candidates that have great plans for solving our illegals situation.

LOL

See, the point is, Cruz is the recipient of “the influence of special interests and lobbyists”...

I’m not trying to mis-state Cruz’s policy. It appears he is intending to build a wall, so that’s a positive.

I don’t care for him keeping folks here and green carding them.

Once that’s done, they’re legal.

GET THE ILLEGALS OUT!

Let them come back in after being vetted. I’d rather they go to the back of the line under current quotas, but realistically, we’ll never get that.

I’m going for Trump because he has the closest thing to it right now.

To hell with that! I'll stick with Cruz.

Cuz you'd rather get screwed by the puppet rather than the puppeteer. Take a look at who is donating to Ted Cruz and his superpacs. You don't get money from the Club for Growth or Goldman Sachs because you're anti-establishment.

It’s not that we don’t know how to solve illegal immigration. What is missing is the political will to get it done. And, as president, I will get it done. We will secure the borders.” – Ted Cruz

SECURE THE BORDER

A Cruz Administration’s first priority for immigration reform will be to secure the U.S.-Mexico border. We will:

Build a wall that works. The unsecured border with Mexico invites illegal immigrants, criminals, and terrorists to tread on American soil. I will complete the wall.
Triple the number of Border Patrol agents. Securing the border is the federal government’s obligation. I will dedicate the force necessary to do that.
Increase vital aerial surveillance and other technology along the border. Adding boots on the ground is not enough. Eyes in the sky and other equipment are necessary to find and detain all illegal entrants.
Finish the biometric tracking system at our nation’s ports of entry. It is disgraceful that our federal government cannot keep track of those who enter the country. I will complete a biometric entry-exit tracking system.

RESTORE THE RULE OF LAW

We need a President who will follow the law, hold those who break it accountable, and take seriously the duty to protect Americans. To restore the Rule of Law, a Cruz Administration will:

End President Obama’s illegal amnesty. President Obama has issued over 20 illegal executive memoranda rewarding illegality. I will rescind each and every one on my first day in office.
Increase deportations and end catch-and-release. Our laws are not being enforced. I will restore our commitment to enforcement, public safety, and the Rule of Law by rededicating DHS to fully enforcing the law, including through deportations and returns.
End sanctuary policies, sign Kate’s Law, and deport criminal immigrants. There are about 340 sanctuary jurisdictions in the United States. They make a mockery of our laws and endanger our citizens. I will end support for these jurisdictions.
Prohibit illegal immigrants from receiving financial benefits and strengthen E-Verify. American taxpayers should not be funding benefits for those who are here illegally, and American jobs should not go to those who are here illegally. I will protect Americans’ wellbeing by stopping the flow of taxpayer dollars and instituting a strong e-verify system.

REFORM LEGAL IMMIGRATION TO PROTECT AMERICANS

In order to strengthen our immigration system, protect national security, and better serve American workers, we must:

Suspend the issuance of all H-1B visas for 180 days to complete a comprehensive investigation and audit of pervasive allegations of abuse of the program. New allegations detail appalling abuses of the H-1B visa program – a program meant to create American jobs and spur economic growth. I will suspend the program for 180 days to investigate abuses.
Halt any increases in legal immigration so long as American unemployment remains unacceptably high. The purpose of legal immigration should be to grow the economy, not to displace American workers. Under no circumstances should legal immigration levels be adjusted upwards so long as work-force participation rates remain below historical averages.
Enforce the public-charge doctrine. Current law requires legal immigrants to certify that they will be economically self-sufficient. A Cruz Administration will ensure they do not receive government assistance, which defies the law and harms American taxpayers.
End birthright citizenship. Birthright citizenship was not intended to legalize the children of people who are breaking the law by entering and staying in the country illegally. I will take steps to pass legislation or a constitutional amendment to end it.

“We stopped the Gang of Eight bill. Ted Cruz led the fight against the establishment. We would be living under amnesty right now if Cruz had not succeeded.” – Rush Limbaugh

Are you seriously kidding me, finnie?

Are you a business owner??

If you want that project to be approved, or given tax abatements, you must be in with the folks signing the contracts. Building said projects gives and keeps jobs, from day one.

It’s just a simple fact of life. You’re not “owned” by them. You’re free to give the next guy a donation, or not.

So, you’re saying this is worse than being owned by Open Border Super-PAC donors? Who own you for life??

I’m for the job creator and on the side of the American worker, not the illegal immigrant Welcome Wagon folks.

Cruz is very much for deportation, he just has a priority for deporting those convicted of other crimes first. He also takes the common sense approach that by removing all incentives, many will self deport. I honestly don’t see that deporting then expediting them back in makes a lot of common sense, apart from being extremely costly.

I like both Trump and Cruz and think they are equally up to the task of dealing with illegals. That is something I am Thankful for this holiday.

There may be cases worthy of consideration. In the past he has said Green Cards but no citizenship. Citizenship for their children, however.

If they are otherwise law-abiding and not on welfare or other assistance I can see a path.

Now I will don my bullet-proof vest.

I like both Cruz’s and Trump’s written plan.

I don’t like Trump saying that he will expedite the good ones back in.

As opposed to Cruz saying we’ll see what happens? No thank you. Seen that before...didn’t like it then, don’t like it now.

I’ve trusted politicians too many times, who’ve said they will “secure the border”. FReepers are sick and tired of that worn out phrase.

Countless (tax) $$ have been approved/thrown at this lie. It’s never happened.

I’m glad to see Cruz has finally said “build the wall”, but, again...I have a really hard time trusting a politician to follow through on this (I’m sick of DC lip service).

I’ll trust the guy who’s a proven builder/doer/contract negotiator to FINALLY come through on that.

Perhaps. As well, you don't spend 21 of the past 26 years donating more to Democrats than to Republicans, switch parties THREE times and only in the past five years start donating exclusively to Republicans and help advance functional Democrats like Mitt Romney and McCain (Then-Democrat Trump endorsed McCain in 2008, some say because Obama didn't run Hillary as his running mate, a suggestion Trump avoided denying when it was suggested), because you're "conservative."

You can vote for that at your own risk. I'll stick with Cruz.

Not much more. Trump donated maybe 560,000 to Dems over that period, maybe 460 or 490 to Republicans, if memory serves. After that, Trump donated exclusively to Republicans.

You can vote for that at your own risk. I'll stick with Cruz.

Have fun with Mr. Amnesty/TPP/CFR goon.
