Bromance on the Rocks: Surging Ted Cruz Begins to Poke Donald Trump
Yahoo ^ | 11/24/2015 | Sahil Kapur

Ted Cruz's moment has arrived.

Less than 10 weeks before Iowa voters their cast the first votes of the presidential campaign season in Feb. 1 caucuses, a new Quinnipiac poll shows the Texas senator statistically tied with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump for the lead in the state. Perhaps not so coincidentally, Cruz is tentatively beginning to take on the brash New York billionaire after months of cozying up.

Twice in recent days, the Texan has seized opportunities to distance himself from Trump's policies and rhetoric. First, Cruz disagreed with Trump after the New Yorker expressed openness to setting up a registry of Muslim Americans in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks. "I'm a big fan of Donald Trump's but I'm not a fan of government registries of American citizens," Cruz told reporters in Iowa, according to Politico. "The First Amendment protects religious liberty, I've spent the past several decades defending religious liberty."

Then over the weekend, he politely chided inflammatory rhetoric from fellow Republicans on immigration, when asked about Trump during an interview with the Associated Press. "Tone matters," Cruz said. "Are there some in the Republican Party whose rhetoric is unhelpful with regard to immigration? Yes." Cruz's campaign said to expect more distinctions to come.

Handing teddy bears out to illegals(which is disgusting) at the border with glenn beck was a turn off for me on Cruz. I would vote for him if he’s the last man standing, but Trump would actually change the US and is what we need.

I thought Trumps magnanimous mention of Cruze as possible VP material might zing the strings of Cruz’s heart...

Ted Cruz, I predict, will continue to respectfully identify differences between himself and Trump, highlighting his own unique skills and qualities.

This article reads, to me, as a plea for Cruz to denigrate Trump. I do not believe that Cruz will be dumb enough to fall into that trap.

It appears integrity is not your strong suit, would you like to redeem yourself and maybe let the other Freepers know Mr Robert Mercers position on illegal immigration.

I won’t call you a liar but you sure do are selective on the facts you care to present, maybe it will give you a chance to share with everyone the fact that Mr Mercer is a big supporter against illegal immigration.

Cruz is owned by a hedge fund banker (Mercer). He’ll implode faster than Carson.

Lots of astute folks on FR - then there's the lunatic fringe.....

If you want to be taken seriously, start showing up on the FR donor lists.

Saying who you back and support in the race will also be helpful to prove you're not just a Dummy troll...

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz

Donate to FR

If Trump starts hitting Cruz on his votes for Corker bill and TPA,
then ties them to CoC and CFG donations, Cruz is toast nationally.

And here's a few more discouraging word.

<><> Cruz's fast-tracking TPP vote......knowing Obama considers TPP central to his presidential legacy and to his foreign policy and economic legacies.

<><> Cruz's vote on the Corker bill. The Corker bill is the radical left
kissing up, rallying to protect Obama on the $150 billion Iran nuclear deal giveaway.

<><> Cruz calling for a 500% increase in H1b work visas.

_____________________________________________

American workers DESPISE H1B Visas. A massive expansion of H1Bs puts struggling Americans out of work.

No 'conservative' in their right mind would ever vote for deals which put Americans out of work. Cruz will not change his position on H1B visas....b/c pro-amnesty Goldman Sachs contributes to his campaign (Cruz's wife is a Goldman Sachs exec).

Club For Growth likes Cruz - they are also for amnesty open borders. ===========================================

Cruz also has highly suspect ties to those Hillary lovers, the Democratic-centric, Goldman Sachs, and, the Council on Foreign Relations.

Cruz's wife is a Goldman Sachs exec.

Mrs Cruz served on the North American Union task force, and supported their report called---'Building a North American Community."

The North/South border effort was sponsored by the Council on Foreign Relations in association with the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and the Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales.

Translated into English, that means forget US sovereignty....just eradicate US borders. To be fair, Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship....recently.

He put that aamendment along with others, knowing it wouldn’t pass, to kill the bill. He was working with Sessions on that.

Texas Gov Greg Abbott would be an outstanding VP choice for Donald.

<><> He beat abortion Dem/Barbie handily.

<><> Abbott took on the lesbian sheriff and said NO to sanctuary cities.

<><> Abbott is a leader who gets things done; he lead 26 AG's in the
successful legal fight to get Obama's heinous amnesty EO's out on hold.

<><> Abbott recently found the funding loophole that could prevent Obama
from forcing taxpayers to finance Syrian refugees squatting in the US.

<><> He warned non-profit groups to cease their refugee activities in his state.

<><> Abbott spotlighted a young Texas student who stood up for her Christianity.

<><> Texas has an armed state militia.

Texas Gov Greg Abbott would be an outstanding VP choice for Donald.

HARD TO BELIEVE that Cruz was dumb enough to actually say: "....some (meaning Donald) in the Republican Party whose rhetoric is unhelpful with regard to immigration...."

Cruz likes to ballyhoo his Christian bona fides....says he's got an evangelical army on his side. Now the evangelicals in the pews are saying otherwise.

Even though Trump has made no overtures to them, the stalwart Evangelicals are solidly behind Trump.

An evangelical pastor on BOR related that his evangelical congregation rose up en masse to applaud Trump's comment: "I'll bomb the crap out of the Muslims."

Another 200,000 underlined their support for Trump by downloading the pastor's remarks on Trump.

I agree that tone matters.

I’m going with the guy that is clear on what he will do with the illegals here.

Cruz has been wishy-washy and I’m not voting for anyone I have to guess about or hope they’ll do what’s right. If they would, they would say it from the beginning.

“Cruz has never, ever championed the wholesale deportation of illegals. He has expressed his own ideas on the subject many times”

That’s why I will never vote for him. We have laws. Not following those laws, letting them stay = amnesty.

“I heard a GOPe guy on Medved (never got his name) say that before the Primary season the party elders got all of the potential candidates together and told them what was off limits for the campaign (implication being that they would lose financing, I guess). Top among them was immigration. Then guess what happened, the campaigning started and NOT A WORD ABOUT IMMIGRATION, not from Cruz, not from any of them. Money talks.

By the way, Trump wasn’t at that confab, as he wasn’t a potential candidate at the time.”

I’ve been wondering why Cruz was silent for so long.

I don’t think Trump would’ve listened anyway - he’s not owned by the RNC or donors ;) People complain that he’s switched parties - that’s a plus when all parties are corrupt.

It was written in clear and concise declarative sentences, as most news articles, at the 5th grade level.

Standard B$. The DC crowd has been pulling this cr@p for years and some people even some Freepers still fall for it. Every vote is calculated, there is never a surprise on these traitorous bills that absolutely no one has ever read.

The political buzz was that before the primary season commenced, the GOPe told the potential candidates it had gathered together that certain subjects were off-limits for the campaign (implication was they'd get no funding----b/c THE GOPe ITSELF had decided what voters could hear).

Top among the GOPe no-nos was immigration. Et voila---there's been NOT A WORD ABOUT IMMIGRATION, not from Cruz, not from any of them. Looks like GOPe money talks......and speaks loudly.

BTW, Trump wasn't at the dictatorial GOPe confab b/c he was not yet a potential candidate. Trump would not have complied.....hes not owned by the RNC or GOPe. People complain that hes switched parties - but thats a definite plus among voters b/c the people know all parties are corrupt.

G-r-e-a-t rap-----needs a repeat.

“Tone matters,” Cruz said. “Are there some in the Republican Party whose rhetoric is unhelpful with regard to immigration? Yes.”

Here is where Cruz goes off the rails. I like Ted but there is a reason he is only polling at 10% max but averaging 7%-8.5%. He just tries to dance around the edge too much and its because he has a lot of Wall Street money backing him. Trump is right about having to answer to donors.

Yes, even more proof they are different wings of one Uniparty, with the ultimate goal to stamp out Conservatives/Liberty and usher in communism. This time, thanks to Trump, the veil is being ripped off these GOPe scum. They’ve been fooling us for years, probably sitting back and laughing/mocking us at how easy it is for them to fool us “dumb” conservatives. But now, thanks to Trump, they’ve been forced to come out from operating in “stealth” mode, from behind their false fronts, and be exposed for all to see who they truly are. Thanks for sharing this information.
