Surviving pilot comments, cited by Sputnik (a Russian news agency):

"There were no warnings. Not via the radio, not visually. There was no contact whatsoever. That's why we were keeping our combat course as usual. You have to understand what the cruising speed of a bomber is compared to an F-16. If they wanted to warn us, they could have shown themselves by heading on a parallel course. But there was nothing. And the rocket hit our tail completely unexpectedly. We didn't even see it in time to take evasive maneuvres."

Turkey may be lying. I don’t know. What I do know is I would never assume one nation is lying simply because a Russian pilot says so. Russians have NEVER been known for their honesty.

They had now warning?! Doesn’t say much about their air defensive systems.

Actually I think they are both telling the truth.

Turkey try to contact the Russian Jet. Due to mechanical failure, operator error what ever, the Russians do not hear the Turks.

Turks: we contacted them the Russians ignored us.

Russians: We never heard from them.

This is why you do not shoot 1st and ask questions later. You have no way of knowing the pilot is hearing your warnings.

I suppose the question is who is the biggest liar, Russians or muslims? Muslims can’t speak without lying. So there’s your answer. The Russians are telling the truth.

When in doubt, doubt the Muslim.

Look at B.O. Not a word of truth out of his ugly mouth in 7+ years.

Really don’t give a damn about Turkey. They are not really very friendly to us anyway and should be kicked of NATO. They are hard core Muslims and not to be trusted.

They could both be telling the truth. There could have been either a transmission problem or a reception problem.

In my opinion there was no need for a shoot-down as the general rule seems to be an interception and escort rather than a shoot-down. This was a pointless and dangerous escalation, especially since Turkey regularly flies over Syrian territory on their missions to bomb the Kurds. This essentially gives the Russians permission to shoot down F-16’s over Syria. Some of those might be ours.

Whatever the truth of that aspect. Turkey flies protective cover for Jihadi rebels.
That Suhkoi was bombing jihadis and nothing else, Turkey attacked it.

That’s all I need to know. Putin nailed it saying that Turkey is clearly on the islamist enemy side. Has been all along.

How long was that Russian aircraft in Turkisk airspace? How long does it take to transmit 10 warnings? How close wat that F-1g to the Russian bomber?

If you were a pilot who worked for Putin, you would say exactly what you were briefed to say.

I have to believe that Turkey, Syria, Russia, and the US all have a RADAR track for this plane.

Everybody knows the truth...yet nobody knows the truth.

Yes, Turkey is lying. Yes, Russia is ALSO lying. They are both reprehensible governments who are not friends of the US. Anyone who picks one over the other is a fool. Both are evil; let them kill each other.

I do not know if the aircraft violated Turkish Airspace. I do know the pilot of the Turkish Aircraft had orders to shoot the Russian Aircraft if it violated Turkish Air Space. There is absolutely no way he could have received authorization to fire in the 15 to 20 seconds the Russian aircraft “may” have been over Turkish airspace.

The real question is why the pilot of the Turkish aircraft had the orders he was given.

This was a planned and coordinated intercept by Turkey. The real failure was Russian ground radar inability to pick up the Turkish bandits and warn Fenser of the threat boggies approaching from their 3 O’clock or 6 O’clock position. The Vipor’s got within 5-10 miles and once they had missile tone they uncaged the seeker head and took a boresight shot without radar lock. From now on their will be SU-27’s or Mig-29’s within operational CAP of those strike aircraft and they will not be caught with their pants down again. Turkey got in a sucker punch and picked to big of a fighter to mess with.
