Trump abruptly cancels black clergy press conference
Politico ^

Posted on 11/29/2015 3:40:44 PM PST by springwater13

The campaign originally announced the press conference in a press release on Wednesday, writing, “Trump will be joined by a coalition of 100 African American Evangelical pastors and religious leaders who will endorse the GOP frontrunner after a private meeting at Trump Tower.”

But some of those listed as invitees quickly took to social media to condemn the billionaire businessman. Detroit pastor Corletta Vaughn called Trump “an insult and embarrassment” in a Wednesday Facebook post.

Amid the furor, the campaign canceled the public portion of the event. The private meeting will go forward as planned, and Scott said that the guest list has continued to grow in recent days. Even as some pastors drop out, he said he expects the total attendance to exceed 100. “Ever since this controversy came out of this meeting, more pastors have contacted me seeking admission,” he said.

It is not clear how many endorsements Trump will receive following the meeting.

Scott said that the criticism he and other black pastors have faced from for dealing with Trump has been withering.

“We’ve been called Uncle Toms, sellouts, coons … We have preachers calling us ‘prostitutes on a pole,’” he lamented, referring to an epithet leveled by one Baltimore minister. “If Donald Trump said that, the entire nation would be in an uproar.”

One thing if your going to support Trump is loyalty if not, get out of the way, he doesn’t have time for people if he can’t trust them...

Good for him....the government controlled media lied and they died....in Trump’s eyes...next.....

He moves quickly - a good sign for the campaign. I imagine some of this was a setup from the get go.

got to love the contradiction and hypocrisy of liberals and their minions in the media...

third paragraph:

“The botched endorsement rollout represents an embarrassing setback for a campaign struggling to combat the perception that its candidate is racially divisive.”

final paragraph:

“Scott said that the criticism he and other black pastors have faced from for dealing with Trump has been withering.

“We’ve been called Uncle Toms, sellouts, coons … We have preachers calling us ‘prostitutes on a pole,’” he lamented, referring to an epithet leveled by one Baltimore minister. “If Donald Trump said that, the entire nation would be in an uproar.””

good for you Rev Scott...

Among the Disciples, there was Judas who in fact was a traitor.

That principle certainly appears to be alive and well.

(Note to those TDS-victims suffering from their affliction, NO I am not comparing Trump to Jesus, not even close. Just to spare you any unneeded anxiety, God knows you all suffer enough already)

Were some of these pastors expressing their “black privilege”? Trump should demand reparations.

Considering they agreed to meet but never agreed to ‘endorse’ him in the first place that might be a logical conclusion.

Trump figured out that some there would use the meeting to embarrass him.

Trump set the meeting up and invited the attendees. Shouldn't he have known that ahead of time? Otherwise why invite them?

Perhaps it was a setup from the gitgo. They must receive something in return for pulling out of endorsing Trump.

Trump should just ignore all organizations, perhaps some, but I wouldn’t know wich ones. Speaking directly to the people via his stump speeches — which for now are easily found on youtube, and has proven to be pretty convincing and uplifting.

It is pretty basic knowledge that pastors and churches aren’t allowed to endorse candidates for public office.
