GOP senator: Why politicians secretly oppose Trump
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/11/15 | Anna Giaritelli

Posted on 12/11/2015 6:02:57 PM PST by markomalley

Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake shocked MSNBC's Chuck Todd Thursday evening with his candid response that Republican lawmakers won't publicly admit they oppose Donald Trump as the GOP presidential nominee because they fear the front-runner would launch a third-party run.

"Those who don't want a Republican in the White House want Republicans to say this because the most likely scenario if there's not a Republican in the White House will be because Donald Trump runs as a third-party candidate and if Republicans say now we will not support the ultimate nominee, that gives Donald Trump license to run as a third-party candidate," Flake said on "Meet the Press Daily."

Flake initially dodged Todd's question of whether he would support Trump as the party's nominee, responding, "Donald Trump will not be the nominee."

Todd followed up, asking the senator again whether he would pledge his support to the businessman-turned-politician, which is when Flake divulged.

Meanwhile, in secret, they plot out the path to steal the nomination from him.

(Having said that, I'm a Cruz supporter, but the conduct of the establishment is beneath contempt)

I’m for Trump and Cruz.

Without Trump, Jethro would already be the nominee.

Politicians hate non-politician Americans who try to steal their DC gig.

I’m trying to determine whether CW II is called for or not under those circumstances.

Flake is owned by The Cheap Labor Express.
As are most of the other GOP Senators.
Of course they oppose Trump.

Yes it is, and if this were happening to Jebra I’d see it as wrong.

Whether I agree with choices or not, it’s a choice the citizens have the right to make.

If these folks truly felt they had a right to object to a nominee, why did they back John McCain?

That’s a question for the ages.

It used to be that a President who didn’t have both houses of Congress was hog-tied.

Obama has changed all that by making Congress irrelevant.

If Trump wins as a third party candidate he can just start writing executive orders and memos right and left and there will be no way to stop him.

Huh?

This sentence illustrates why nothing gets done in Washington.

Donald Trump will not be the nominee
**************************************

It’s the certainty with which he and Yeb! and Kasuck make these statements that make me think there is a plan to steal the nomination.

It’s a lie, of course.

They don’t oppose Trump because their electorate support what he says.

That makes no sense to me. It tells me Flake can not be trusted because he obfuscates to the point of absurdity.

I agree with everything that you said-both in terms of supporting Cruz and the establishment of the GOP.

They quite literally are some of the most tone deaf, out and out arrogant people in the entire country. It’s as if they think we should count ourselves fortunate that they’re wise enough to select candidates for us that we’ll have the privilege to vote for.

Last I checked, that’s not the way the system is supposed to work. The American people decide who they want, and if the “establishment” doesn’t like America’s choice, then it sucks to be them.

That’s the way it’s supposed to work anyway. Naturally, it doesn’t go that smoothly and without resistance though.

Does Flake have a drug or alcohol abuse problem?

What the hell did he say?

The GOPe has this fantasy that they will overturn the Trump nomination.

But deep down in their evil hearts they know they would just destroy their own gravy train if they did. They are too gutless to do it.

I posted on this earlier today. The establishment is perfectly willing to toss out the votes of their base. They are saying, “They only have to vote for Trump on the first ballot.”

The fix is in.

This is why Trump has made it clear that he’s willing to go third party.

They are also willing to elect Hillary. They are fine with the Clintons (or Obama for that matter) over Cruz or Trump.

Flake and other GOP RINO’s know that if an election wave is big enough
to sweep Trump into office, it is a big enough wave to sweep them out.
That is the real reason Flake and other RINO’s fear Trump.
And they FEAR Trump.

McConnell and Ryan are too chicken to oppose Obama and shut down the government.

Next to Trump, Obama the lightweight is the fairy Princess.

Trump is a New York Tough guy. I wouldn’t want to cross him.

If Trump wins the primaries, with the voters behind him I don’t think the GOPe has the balls to rig the convention.

They would be scuttling the party, and Trump would fund PACS to make sure every last traitor got primary opponents who are well funded.

Trump would have so many people on his side that the party hacks would be bloodied at the polls.

Americans don’t like changing the rules, ignoring the rules or fixing the outcome.

If Trump wins the votes of the base, the gutless GOPe will just have to do what we did when they nominated losers like Dole, McCain and Romney. Hold their nose and say “President Donald J. Trump
