Trump brings up Cruz's Cuban ancestry at rally
Business Insider ^ | 12/11/2016 | Colin Campbell

Real-estate mogul Donald Trump contrasted his own "evangelical" beliefs with US Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) religious beliefs at a Friday-night campaign rally.

"I am an evangelical. I'm a Christian. I'm a Presbyterian," Trump said, speaking in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Republican presidential front-runner then highlighted the fact that Cruz's father is Cuban.

"We're doing really well with the evangelicals," he continued. "And by the way, and again, I do like Ted Cruz, but not a lot of evangelicals come out of Cuba, in all fairness. It's true. Not a lot come out. But I like him nevertheless."

It was an eye opener for me when a missionary came back from Cuba, and told the congregation that they were paying for the US and Canada to have a revival. That was very humbling.

And you know what is in the man’s heart? Be careful, you tread very thin ice when making such assertions about another sinner, who may be no worse nor better than you. Judge actions? Certainly. Judge a man’s heart - Wrong.

We have a winner. What are the odds they would run someone who appeared to be for the people.

“Not perfect”...no, no candidate is perfect, but Trump is an ultra liberal on numerous key issues. What is conservative about supporting Obama’s stimulus (porkulus), for example? What is conservative about not supporting private property rights and supporting the outrageous Kelo v. Connecticut decision? What is conservative about not recognizing federalism and separation of powers? What is conservative about proposing more big government programs? That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

No, there is no perfect candidate - but Trump is liberal across the board. But at least he’s entertaining and “bold” about it.

Your TDS is showing. Wear a slip next time, it really isn’t decent.

And your kneepads and slipless Trump love isn't? Decency is not in your purview so move along.

Trump didn’t support Christian Kim Davis. He shouldve been there with Cruz and the Huckster

Your reference to Trump’s past statements as indicative of his lack of sincerity is unsupported in context.

Rather than go into the few instances where Donald erred, and eventually corrected himself, I will repeat a baseball analogy that people can readily grasp.

Babe Ruth was known to swing and miss at pitches. The reaction of the fans of the opposing team was euphoria. A second swing and miss would be followed by jubilation. Then a pitch would come where Babe would literally knock the cover off the ball and send it sailing over the home run fences.

So what’s the point? The point is that Donald does not bat 1000, but he’s one of the most awesome players to ever go to bat for America.

And lastly, you should never put stock in a what a candidate SAYS, you should put stock in that they DO. If what they say floats your boat, then Rand Paul or Carly Fiorina would be your pick because their scriptwriters know exactly how to push the buttons of conservatives, yet each is either a corrupt weasel or an incompetent excuse maker.

As I have so oft stated - I can find fault in both men. It’s not difficult. But I believe Trump has the better temperament and EXPERIENCE for the job of POTUS. I do not believe that Senator Cruz has such qualities. Moreover, his nasally lecturing style of “debate” may work in a courtroom, but I sense it will be (and is) a put-off to many Americans, which is perhaps why his poll numbers are consistently below Trump’s. But then, it is early, and that could change. On the other hand Trump’s repetition of subject matter tends to get old ... so - there is sauce for the goose.

No one in this matter is judging Trump’s heart. But the words that came out of his mouth were astonishing to anyone who is an evangelical. It was then, and remains, alien to speak of not seeking forgiveness among serious Christians. We can’t un-hear that. To us it is an impossibility to speak that way once a person has come to Christ by way of the cross. It gives Cruz a genuine edge with evangelicals. It is what it is. Make of it what you will.

Peace,

SR

My guess he has landed in Augusta and will be ready for Aiken in less than 12 hours.

Good luck.

Oh, heck. I’m a Catholic; no evangelical am I. But I still beg God’s forgiveness every day.

Reagan wasn’t exactly the poster boy for marriage either. And I adored Ronald Reagan. His kids (not Michael) turned out to be anathema to evangelical posturing.

So I don’t think you have a point. You don’t like Trump, big deal. Prepare to nurse your future ulcers because he’s going to be the next President.

That’s in Georgia for those of you in Rio Linda.

Aiken is a small town in SC near that airport which is capable of handling an airliner bought and paid for by Donald Trump.
