Why Trump?
Charlie Daniels Soapbox ^ | Dec. 11, 2015 | Charlie Daniels

Posted on 12/12/2015 6:43:01 AM PST by AuntB

This column neither endorses not disparages any political candidate. It is a commentary on my gut feeling about how a presidential candidate who never held public office or to my knowledge, ever seriously attempted to, a novice and amateur in the ways of national politics could captivate such a seemingly unassailable following of eligible Republican voters.

To say Donald Trump is brash, self-aggrandizing, abrasive and given to 360º offensive statements would be an understatement of universal proportions.

He has bragged, bashed, bullied and bulldozed his way through months of rabid criticism from, among others, his own party, predictions of his demise for verbally going too far and enough negative print to paper the south wall of the Grand Canyon.

Why?

Why in spite of the adversity, the condescension and dire prophecies of fading away, he rolls on in juggernaut-like fashion, defying every traditional political rule in the book, garnering phenomenal poll numbers, leaving well-financed establishment candidates foundering in the starting blocks and scratching their heads in bewilderment.

Here’s my opinion.

The Republican establishment has blown it. For years now the GOP faithful have heard promises to curb Obama's excesses, do something about our Southern border, take on the rising tide of Islamic terrorism - both foreign and domestic - fix the Obamacare morass, our out- of-control entitlement debacle and address the myriad of problems that threaten America’s future.

And after achieving a majority in both houses, they have done basically nothing, caving to every ill-conceived Obama initiative, fearing media reaction, refusing to take any kind of bold action, coming off like a gaggle of cowards or a herd of sheep, yet telling us if they could only gain the White House they would be able to get the job done.

Well, the people of America just ain’t swallowing it anymore. They're sick of the “same old same old “and want to break out of the mold and elect a man of action, one who speaks in a language the common man can understand.

When he says he’ll build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, the people understand it. Amid promises of political solutions and impractical crap presented by the rank and file candidates, this seems a plausible solution, somebody at least proposing something that, in most people's opinion could work to stem the flood of illegal immigration.

Americans are extremely concerned about the flow of radical Islam into America. While the other candidates flounder in political correctness and propose pie in the sky, security, more efficient vetting processes etc., to the entry of terrorists posing as refugees and immigrants, Trump cuts to the chase and says he would just halt the flow of Muslims completely until we can get the mess figured out.

That's something people understand. While it would probably have been better to say to halt immigration from most Middle Eastern nations, that’s not Trump.

He talks about deporting illegals, getting rid of the Hispanic gangs that plague our cities and many others, hands on and sometimes outlandish solutions and comes off as a man of action who would grab the bull by the horns and actually do something for a change.

While everybody wonders when he'll cross that line, Trump goes on his merry way, a flash of red heat juxtaposed against the run of the mill, shades of gray establishment candidates whose business as usual rhetoric comes off as colorless against Trump’s fiery lexicon.

I don't know if Trump would be able to follow on all or any of the bold proposals he has made, but he sure has a large swath of Republican voters who believe he can and will.

America wants action, they're sick of rhetoric and cheap talk and politicians who all look as if they were cut from the same mold.

Regardless of what your impression of Trump is, you simply cannot just ignore him, which is more than I can say for most of the candidates running on both tickets.

Try this, try to remember how many things you can remember that have been said by the other Republican candidates.

Now see how many you can remember that Trump said.

See what I mean?

Trump may or may not be the guy, but some of the other candidates could learn a thing or two from him.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops and the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

Charlie Daniels

An article I read yesterday quoted a man who said something like, “It’s like Trump’s saying what I’m thinking.” That sums up his appeal. People with common sense knows what must be done; no one in government’s been doing it.

Do we need political office experience?

We need actual experience and real accomplishments!

Not the Hilary Clinton failures or placeholders!

We need Real leadership based on solid moral principles.

We need to stop the promises from politicians that they can’t pay for: ie tuition, immigration freebies, etc.

“If he’s done one thing right, Trump has revealed the Uniparty system for the con that is is.”

Indeed he has and there is so much more to reveal about the corrupt GOP.

Here is the story of how they (NRCC & NRSC) are using Trump and his supporters to finance their own rino candidates.

Be aware of the con jobs going on using candidate supporters to donate and buy fake gear from these UNAUTHORIZED pacs, who can destroy a campaign and give little if any $$ to the candidate. These underhanded tactics really hurt Allen West’s last campaign.

In fact, The GOP House (NRCC,run by Greg Walden) & Senate (NRSC) are in on the scam using TRUMP supporters. It works this way. You take a prez poll on Facebook, etc. and vote for Trump, then their emails start trying to sell you their Chinese made junk to hurt the Trump campaign.

I got another from the NRSC today which reads: from Zach ... info@nrsc.org trying to sell fake Trump Tshirts for $25.00. Not ONE CENT goes to the Trump campaign and it hurts it, which is why they do it. This has been going on for months. https://contribute.nrsc.org/donald-trump-humble-shirt/?recurring=true&utm_medium=email&utm_source=sp&utm_campaign=20151210_24209021_Zach&utm_content=body_txt_claim%20you%282%29&action=email_click&ha1=

Dozens of these lobbyist run pacs have used Trump Supporters. Donate or buy gear ONLY from his website. https://www.donaldjtrump.com/

Thanks for posting this AuntB.

I agree with this with one exception.

If Trump had not said we should ban all Muslims from entering the US, there would have been no firestorm in the media and from the GOP.

Trump goes for the jugular so the issue becomes the news and draws our enemies (GOPe/Media) out.

He is genius at manipulating the media and establishment to not only talk about the things he wants to talk about but to force everyone to choose a side.

Eminent domain is part of the constitution. It is NOT a taking if just compensation is made. Wasn’t Trump’s idea, it was Madisons.

I’ll go a step further and say that both houses of Congress have happily conspired with Obama on legislation.

Until Kelo the government had never been so bold as to take the private property of one to give to another as the government sees fit. Now, the private ownership of property, formerly a keystone of the Lockian philosophy the Declaration of Independence was drawn from - Life, Liberty and Property - is no longer a right. Thanks to Kelo it is now yours until such time it is given to another at the whim of government. Not for roads, military bases or the like. For private use.

Trump agrees with this. Saying it is found in the Constitution is the same as saying Obamacare is found in the Constitution.

Well I would say that just about says it all....but there is a side of Trump that few know about...you have to live in the City or around the City to understand it, and if you don’t you wouldn’t even if I tried to explain it, which I won’t, but its all good....

Trump is the man for the job...and we middle class Americans and blue collar workers that have been walked on, lied to, called stupid and crazy, been shoved in a corner, we are finished with politicians and power hungry greedy people, so if there are candidates like that on either side, they are not going anywhere...nope they are finished...

Good Job Charlie Daniels....you know Trump or you wouldn’t be able to say what you did...

Let’s face it, we won’t ever be able to control our borders, eliminate terrorism within our borders, or fix at least some of the things wrong with this country, if we cannot even defeat those who call us bad names.

We need someone who is willing and able to do battle with the Psychological Terrorists within our borders. That is why a lot of people are attracted to his campaign.

Oh, please. Take it up with the Supreme court. Get it out of the constitution if you don’t like it.

And as I told you before, I don’t like the Kelo decision. That’s ONE strike against Trump....the others have a boat load of ‘em! Voting for TPA, like many candidates did, does away with our constitution. So if your guy wins you won’t have to worry about it.

A true breath of fresh air, and quite agreeable on most things, and not a backer downer. What is not to like?

It is not only the republicans that are excited, it is Americans.

I said it back in July, I will repeat, sometimes the strength of personality overwhelms positional differences, or at least blurs them.

He is going away stirring up support and interest, even with some who usually look on politics with distain, witnessing the goings on nationally.

I am not a Trump supporter, per se, but I hope he understands that the mood of the electorate won't accept any more bait and switch. Part of me thinks the crater left from his polling numbers will be wide and deep if he reneges on his promises. But then another part of me sees Obama polling at 40%, or whatever, and realizes some people just want to be misled. Either way, with enemies in both parties gunning for him, he will need the support of the populace to be successful, which makes me think he could be a great president. Or he could destroy his brand like nobody has ever seen before.

So I guess it’s safe to assume you wouldn’t have a problem with the govt forcing you to sell your property to George Soros so he can make money right?

My mistake.

Maybe you can help me out here.

What was the reason Trump gave for donating all that money to democrats?

It didn’t have anything to do with pay to play and crony capitalism did it?

Love Charlie Daniels.....and love how Charlie loves America!!

Trump has hit the heartstrings of Ameicans, across diverse sections of folks, because we are ALL sick and tired of DC politicians spending (and getting rich off of) our backs.

The GOP has done NOTHING to stop 0blama and his destructive path he’s put our country on. The GOP is complicit - all in the name of lining their own pockets w/PAC, special interest $$.

Trump is the ONLY candidate NOT owned and his message is resonating with ALL Americans, because he ALONE has completely changed the campaign dialogue with what matters most, to Americans.

It was interesting watching C-Spam, just after Trump’s rally, last night. They took calls on their three party lines....Dem, Pubbie an Independent. The calls were like 8 out of 10 FOR Trump!! And, these were lifelong Dems, on the Dem line. The Indy’s were for Trump! Was amazing to hear their personal reasons, for why they’re supporting ONLY Trump.
