Face It: Trump's The True GOP Favorite Now
nydailynews.com ^ | December 20, 2015 | JONATHAN ALLEN

Posted on 12/20/2015 5:35:51 AM PST by Helicondelta

There's something the chattering classes along the Acela Corridor don't want to say about Donald Trump: He's the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination.

For the Republican Party's conservative - in more ways than one - establishment, it's as if admitting that will make it come true. So instead, they squabble over who the "real front-runner is, whether it's Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. Perhaps, the parlor wisdom holds, a dark horse like Chris Christie can overtake the field at the New Hampshire turn.

For the first few months, the Trump deniers - loud on national television, insistent on Twitter and ever-present in the nation's leading print and digital outlets - could be called wishful thinkers. With the primaries just around the corner, as many otherwise smart political analysts keep waiting, aching, for conventional order to be restored, it's time to call them what they are: delusional.

Trump is leading national polls by more than 20 points in a field with more than a dozen candidates.

He's sitting on a double-digit lead in New Hampshire, holds a 20-point edge in South Carolina and runs 27 points ahead of his nearest competitor in Georgia. Though he's probably going to lose Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucus to Cruz, who's leading in the polls there, Trump could finish a strong second.

He's first or near it in Nevada, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Missouri and Ohio. He's in the lead in nearly every state that has been polled. All those leads have held up after a dozen predicted collapses.

To anyone looking honestly at the hard numbers, Trump's lead in the Republican primary looks a lot like Hillary Clinton's in the Democratic primary. And no one is debating who will "really win" on the Democratic side.

I prefer Cruz but understand that Trump is looking more and more like the choice we will have. If he is the last man standing, I will go all-in for him with a clear conscience.

That includes sending him money.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate as the next President.
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz

Strange, I said the same thing to my husband a week or so ago about Ted Cruz. He can do more good on the Supreme Court, a lifetime of correcting the crap they have been doing. But, I’d really love to see Trey Gowdy as Attorney General. The liberals heads would explode, just like in the movie Mars Attacks! LOL

Trump tweet this AM

Hillary Clinton lied when she said that “ISIS is using video of Donald Trump as a recruiting tool.” This was fact checked by @FoxNews: FALSE

Trump debating Hillary will be amusing.

I kind of think the left will create some pathetic scandal to "disqualify" Trump before a debate can ever take place. Something that Hillary can walk on stage with, should it not stop Trump, and then state "his opinion doesn't count because blah, blah, blah..." That is just the way they work, kind of like the democrat voter setup for sanders.

I think Cruz would skewer Hillary better than Trump, but both could carve her into a human slinky before all was said and done.

do you think trump or cruz could make her cry during a debate?

I think Trey Gowdy will be picked up for job under Trump, and emerge as AG after Cruz leaves for the Supreme Court. I could even see Trump appointing Gowdy as a Supreme Court judge as well. Imagine both Cruz and Gowdy on the court.

And where are all the pictures of the packed Hillary rallies?

I don’t think the election would be close.

to believe she is easy to beat is not wise

Good post yours. At this point in time, I'd bet a good chunk of money that Trump will be the GOP nominee. But Trump vs. Hillary or Cruz vs. Hillary...I'd pass on either bet. A bit too close to call, for the reasons you mentioned.

As a side note, a Trump vs. Hillary match-up should result in a Trump landslide, much like a Reagan landslide. Trump will attract the blue-collar types, etc. But in Reagan's day the media was at least somewhat fair. Times have changed.

I’d rather have Cruz. language border and culture. And fighting the war on terror. All others are important but pale in comparison. At least for me.

But if it’s trump, then he is my guy. He will get my vote. And he will easily beat Hillar. And many above are correct. 5 to 7 million dems will stay home.

Oh, yes. and not just a scandal, but scandals. And the media will headline them, one after another. On the NBC nightly news, on Yahoo.com, etc. Fact-checks will come after the election, if at all. Media propaganda is a powerful tool, and should not be underestimated.

“She pretty much starts with about 170 electoral votes.”

Well, Mitt Romney won 206 electoral votes and I don’t think any republican can do worse.

I think you are overestimating her popularity.

Trey Gowdy for speaker of the House instead of the bearded RYaNO. Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions or Tom Cotton as Senate Majority leader. Ted Cruz for VP or Attorney General then onto the SCOTUS,
Scalia is getting up in years now. Hang on one more year Buzzy Ruth, You too baldy lady Breyer-—both gifts of the Clintoons.

Meanwhile our 15 trash each other, and barely mention Clinton or Obama. It’s insanity,.

The GOP is run by people that don’t want to win.

++++++++++++
you are spot on. If a GOPe candidate had Trump’s polling numbers, the RNC would have forced the others out of the race “for the good of the party”.

I wouldn’t be surprised the Dems try to go with no debates. Hillary is terrified of Trump...she has a lifetime of baggage, and not just the lightweight stuff we are talking serious baggage.

As for her VP....can anyone think of anybody that would want to be her VP. Hmmmm answered my own question Huma.
