Phyllis Schlafly, an icon of the conservative movement who has been active for half a century, is warning the nation: Donald Trump is the last hope for America.
Schlafly unloaded on Republicans in Congress for passing the $1.1 trillion omnibus bill last week, a move she called a “betrayal.â€
“This is a betrayal of the grassroots and of the Republican Party,†Schlafly said in an exclusive interview with WND. “We thought we were electing a different crowd to stand up for America, and they didn’t. We’re extremely outraged by what Congress has done. Nancy Pelosi couldn’t have engineered it any better. I think the people are going to react by electing Donald Trump.â€
Trump put out a statement Friday to ABC News saying, “If anyone needs more evidence of why the American people are suffering at the hands of their own government, look no further than the budget deal announced by Speaker Ryan. In order to avoid a government shutdown, a cowardly threat from an incompetent president, the elected Republicans in Congress threw in the towel and showed absolutely no budget discipline.â€

Okay. I never said otherwise. Since you brought it up, I think that is often not true, but on all sides. Many can’t tell that supporters might share similar principles and come to different conclusions about candidates. So they think spewing hatred will shame people, I guess, into submission to their choice. I don’t know. Seems stupid to me.
It was bad when the Cruz supporters did it and it is bad with the Trump people did it. Both hurt their candidates, not help.
Ultimately it is the ideas that matter, not the people. We are a nation of laws, not men. We have no king.

AMEN to first statement, but Cruz is my last hope for America, and Trump is my next to last hope for America.

Phyllis Schlafly is nobody’s fool.
You don’t have to agree with her, but I would advise anyone that they should really do some soul searching before dismissing her.

The 2016 election is the last hope for America. Unless Trump, Cruz, or someone else who promises to defend America and restore freedom and then actually does so is elected, America will go from limping along to dead within less than ten years.

Agree 100%. I’ve been following and reading Schlafly since she published “A Choice, Not An Echo” in 1964. She’s rarely been wrong about anything.
Thank you very much. Schlafly has standards that even few conservatives can meet. For her to see the gift of TRUMP means things are desperate and that truly, he is the LAST hope for America.
In her mind, it “ain’t” Cruz, by a long shot I’m guessing.
