A cartoon war has erupted in the White House race over a satirical drawing depicting the two young daughters of Republican candidate Ted Cruz as performing monkeys.
The offending cartoon by the Washington Post - since removed from it website - showed Mr Cruz as an organ grinder with two dancing monkeys, under the headline: "Ted Cruz uses his kids as political props."
"Classy. @washingtonpost makes fun of my girls. Stick w/ attacking me - Caroline & Cather-ine are out of your lea-gue," tweeted a furious Mr Cruz, who is polling second in the Republican primary race.

There should be no war. The cartoon characterization of the Cruz girls went so far over the edge that no rational person should be defending it.

Sorry, I like Ted, I admire him, but when I saw his commercial it made me uncomfortable. Specifically the exposure and inclusion of his young daughters to this toxic political climate.
I am not excusing the subsequent cartoon in NYT. But Ted should have anticipated it.

I agree. The Cruz commercial was not good. The kids became fair game. I will still send Ted money and vote for him.
LOL! Reminds me of how the news media went bonkers over a cartoon of two cops shooting a gorilla, and how they screamed when Obama was depicted by a rodeo clown several years back, the same rodeo skit I’ve seen about LBJ and all Presidents till now.
They can dish it out, but can’t take it.
The Obamas used their children as props on a too regular basis and the media just murmured that children were not fair game and cooed over them.
Hypocritical is a common trait among progressives, liberals, GOPe, Democrats...whatever they want to call themselves; they define themselves by their shared traits.
