Yes, with a screening to decide if we want the family back. There will be some who follow the right rules, and there will be some who are denied return.
Oh, and return means residency, they have to wait for years for any hope of more than residency, and yet they will be legal while waiting. This is not amnesty, but it is a good solution to the immigration problem, and it will be the first time we get to have a say about who comes in and who gets to stay. Is this not worth the process?
Bush is useless. He’s a liberal RINO. That doesn’t change the fact that Trump’s proposal is touchback amnesty.
Do you rely on all Bush administration officials to make your point? This article has been on this website several times!
Did Trump mention the Z visa to speed things up?
.
It was amnesty when Kay Bailey Hutchison propose it in 2007, but somehow it’s not amnesty now.
You have a point, the term needs definition. (And Ann Coulter would be a good person to ask) But the real feature in all this is the question gets asked at all. We have been allowing unfettered immigration without asking what the reason for the entry since 1965. Having a relative already here is not (IMO) a good rationale for letting someone in. How about do we need the person for a job that needs doing? How about is the person going to go on free lunch? We have been experiencing immigration for all this time without a voice into the process. Here at last is someone who will supply the voice.
Yes, Trump will still need Congress, but this time he will be making the deal.
“Amnesty laundering”, NR called it.
Actually, Cruz has proposed and even submitted legislation to the effect that anyone who has entered the country illegally can never become a citizen.
Think about it, what is new is the screening. Whole family goes into a hearing process at a border crossing center. If you are disqualified, you go home. That is OK with me.
You do realize that the Trump touchback process is undefined, and must be until Congress acts. This time maybe we can get the touchback rules right and we can approve it.
Clever...and even pithy...but as you’re one of the biggest immigration trumpeters here, how about you answer with something substantive. Some explanation of how you still find Donald, just so, so, so....dreamy.
That’s not new.
That is precisely what Trump is proposing. Under his plan, illegal aliens donât have to go to the end of the line behind those who have complied with our immigration laws. They get an âexpedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legal.â They get to cut the line and then stay in America.
So if you get past Trumpâs bluster, the plan he is proposing is so liberal that it earned the support of The New York Times and the opposition of National Review.
The reason is simple: Trumpâs plan is in fact a form of amnestyâyou just have to leave the country briefly to get it.
So when Trump says of illegal immigrants âthey all have to go,â donât overlook the fact that under his plan almost all would be able to immediately returnâand stay.
This means there is very little difference between his plan and what John Kasich and Jeb Bush are supporting.
And most of his supporters donât even realize it. Now the braying trumpeters may not like it, buy hey sportsfans...take it up with Trump's son. But let me guess, he's probably evil and not to be trusted too, huh?
If its an expedited return the I agree with you.
If they have to pay thousands of dollars and wait years then I do not agree. With you. That’s not amnesty.
When touchback was put into the Immigration bill in 2007, Congress also included setting up touchback centers around the US so they wouldn’t have to leave the country to touchback.
Which proves that National Review is a left-wing RINO GOPe organ and the New York Times is conservative.
Meanwhile cruz has been consistently against deportations and has the same exact policy of ‘anti amnesty w. bush’s’. In fact, cruz helped form bush’s policy on immigration.
Teh provision was clear. You’re supposed to go home, then we’ll consider letting you back in on an expedited process.
The Trump proposal.
Absolutely false.
