No flames here. Just curious as to how the detractors of Trump make no mention of the Republicans who have held various Congressional offices since the 1960s and haven’t done jack squat in advancing the agenda.

Reagan ran and became the governor of California to create a record. When he ran for President we didn’t have to take his word for it that he’d “changed”. There was actual evidence. There is zero evidence for Trump - it all words that this point.

Did Reagan pander for votes in Iowa using my money? Trump just did.

You’re right.

Most Americans care a whole lot more about a candidates vision for the future than about how they got to where they are.

To borrow a bit of dialog from “Fargo” this past season which featured Reagan on the campaign trail in 1978, “He’s got a lot of charisma, I’ll give him that, but I’m not going to shake his hand”. “Why not?” “Because the man made a movie with a monkey - it wouldn’t be dignified”.

But when Reagan came past, the character above shook his hand and complimented him. Trump has the same kind of charisma that draws people to his side.

Trump kills 500 puppies on live TV with hammer, while declaring a 180 on all prior positions. Supporters declare, “We don’t give a rip. We love Trump!”

“Seventeen years before becoming a Republican presidential candidate, Ronald Reagan began his political career as a Democrat.”

While Reagan was a registered Democrat up to 1964, Reagan never was a Democrat in his political career. In 1964 became a Republican. Reagan came forward and endorsed Barry Goldwater for President. Then he rand for Governor of CA in 1966...as a Republican.

Reagan only changed parties once not 5 times like Trump.

Sorry, but any whoever donated to the Clintons and hung out with then, will NEVER get my vote. NEVER. I can not trust them.

While vetting Donald Trump FROM THE RIGHT, I often wish I could reach through my computer screen and choke the mindless minion who was coached to say, “Reagan was a liberal democrat too.”

Instead, I fruitlessly try to reason with them by saying, If anyone is going to USE Reagan to defend Clintonista Trump, they should get their facts straight.

Reagan switched parties in 1962, which is 5 years before he was elected Governor of California (YES... Reagan was a politician). Before that, Reagan’s views changed in the 1950’s, as he endorsed the presidential candidacies of Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956, as well as Richard Nixon in 1960. Reagan gained national attention with his “A Time for Choosing” speech in support of conservative presidential contender Barry Goldwater in 1964. Even then, he didn’t immediately run for POTUS, but a lesser office to prove his credentials matched his rhetoric.

In stark contrast, Trump supported the candidacy of Bill Clinton, TWICE... and credits Slick Willy as the best president in the last 20 years. He supported John Kerry’s presidential run in 2004, he supported Nancy Pelosi as Speaker in 2006, he supported and said Marxist Hillary would make a good president in 2008, he supported Obama and his policies (aka. Obama’s Stimulus Package, auto bailouts, foreign policy, etc) from 2008-11, he supported Harry Reid’s Senatorial campaign over Tea Party favorite Sharon Angle in 2010, and he didn’t change his supportive views on Obama or flip flopped on some liberal positions (abortion and gun control) until March of 2011, when he first ran for POTUS as a Republican.

While Reagan boldly fought against Socialized Medicine in 1961, Trump STILL supports a Canadian style Socialist single payer system that is to the left of Obamacare

.While Clintonista Trump uses Twitter to break Reagan’s 11th commandment and vent his inner foul-mouthed juvenile...
“Look at that face! [Carly Fiorina] Would anyone vote for that?” ~ Donald Trump
“Ben Carson is a complete and total loser.” ~ Donald Trump
“Not a lot of evangelicals [Ted Cruz] come out of Cuba...” ~ Donald Trump
“I don’t think he’s [Ted Cruz] qualified to be president, look at the way he’s dealt with the Senate, where he goes in there like a — you know, frankly like a little bit of a maniac. You’re never going to get things done that way.” ~ Donald Trump
The fraud even insulted Reagan in his book, “The Art of the Deal.”Reagan was a God-fearing Christian man, while at best, Trump is a deist who says, “I’m not sure I have ever asked God’s forgiveness. I don’t bring God into that picture.”

On occasion, did he compromise on such conservative touchstone issues as taxes, entitlement programs and immigration reform? Yes, but always with the longer view in mind. In the end, did he succeed?

Based on where we are now - NO, he did not succeed in the long term.

It takes constant vigilance and no one truly ever took up his mantle.

Those are the ones that say "we have to work together" to "get things done". Blah, Blah, Blah. Most of it is crap and then they spend twice the money "fixing" what they turned into crap.

And Reagan may have worked with others but he also didn't mind being hated by his enemies. Something I like.

Naaah. I don’t like to flame. Just poke fun.

My personal belief is that DT is going to run the table. I also think that the emphasis should be on the person who can accomplish the most should they be elected. I’ve never argued that DT is the most conservative person running, because he clearly isn’t. What I care about is who can move a conservative agenda forward. Ted Cruz might be 95% conservative, but if he can only accomplish 5% of what he sets out to do, then that’s a loss compared to someone who is only 60% conservative but overperforms and actually gets that 60%. And that’s what the choice boils down to in my view.

FR has been taken over by the anti Trump idiots. Not worth reading anymore since I am one of the millions of Republicans that support Trump. Trump will win the nominations and it scares the insane crooked jackasses in America. Their days are numbered by a real hero.

No flames, just facts.

No question, Trump has many virtues. He fears on one. He rejects PC. He is a great businessman. He loves our country and hates what’s been done to it. Those are all good. But......

The real issues are character and values.

Reagan was humble. Trump is a narcissist - not a self-deceived one like Obama. Compare how the two react to their opponents. Reagan laughs. Trump makes personal attacks and assassinates verbally.

Reagan’s conversion was real and deep. Trump’s conversion seems more based on self-interest. Not unlike a “jail-house” conversion, it can change with circumstances.

Obama’s true character was known by conservatives long before he was elected.

Trump’s true character will also come to light if he is elected. And many true conservatives will find themselves deeply regretting following a populist. Just one example may be single-payer healthcare......

What are his core values? When has he ever spoken of the need to follow the Constitution, or downsize government?

Yes, a million times better than any Democratic alternative.......

Just saying.........
