Why Are Trump Haters So Angry About the Debate?(Vanity)
Today | Self

Posted on 01/27/2016 7:29:33 PM PST by DouglasKC

One can't help but notice that there is a strong contingent of what can only be described as people who hate the idea of Donald Trump being President. It's descended into outright personal hatred by some.

But wow...ever since he announced that he wouldn't be doing the debate it's gone up to a whole new level.

My question is...why?? The main insult of detractors now seems to be "Oooh...Trump can't handle questions from a girl how's he going to handle (FILL IN THE BLANK DESPOT)?" Or Trump is afraid of Cruz. Or Trump is afraid to debate.

Now if these things are so easy to discern then shouldn't these folks be outrageously happy? If this is going to hurt Trump so much and make him look so bad shouldn't they be encouraging him to stay out of the debate instead of trying to goad him into it?

Is there any way that any people who don't support Trump can admit that this is a brilliant political move? His one announcement has given him at least 48 hours of wall to wall Trump coverage. He's backed FOX into a corner and made advertisers angry at FOX. He was sure to be the main target of all the candidates AND at least one moderator...but now all the other candidates are going to be gunning for Ted Cruz instead. So he's letting the other candidates try to take out Cruz and he doesn't have to lift a finger.

Now don't get me wrong I love Cruz and IF he could get elected I would love a President Cruz. Cruz is a fighter BUT he's not a leader. And that's the big difference. Trump is a fighter AND a leader.

So if skipping this debate is bad for Trump then why the hyper vitriol?

In short, he is Donald Trump. He thinks he can fix everything by consorting with the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, John McCain and all the politicians he thinks owe him favors because of the generous donations he gave to them.

I don't think that's it at all. I really think he considers them tactical morons who have no negotiating skills. They're rubes ripe for taking is how I think how he sees it. Their tactics ONLY work because they offer money and power to people who have none. Trump doesn't need those things. I think he has a genuine love for country and will do things that are positive for the nation.

I don't hate Trump. I am just gobsmacked at all the people who want or trust a 'strongman' to restore their Liberty.

That, historically speaking, has a lousy track record.

“May I ask, what is your one overriding area of Mr. Trump’s positions since entering the race that you distrust? “

Property rights, gun control and health care are just a few of his policy positions that should give any conservative pause. His statist views on those matters, along with frequent financial support for democrats who should be considered enemies of America are at cross-purposes with conservative thought and action.

“Do you doubt there will be a wall built if he becomes president?”

Yes, I do. Remember, this is a guy who is adept at spouting out the right bromides to whatever audience he feels like reaching on a given day. And the added promises of “getting Mexico to pay for it” aren’t connected to reality.

Look, I get the fact that, after years of frustrating cowardice and inaction by the GOP, to hear someone come along and bellow “I’ll make it all better, so follow me” sounds and feels great. Some among his supporters (one in particular, but I won’t mention her name) here in FR, believe Trump was sent by God Himself.

I’d be more amenable to Trump if he had some measure of consistency in his political stances. I find interesting his backers dismiss his chameleon-like tendency to change to the political landscape as merely a need to conduct business in the hostile environs of a blue state (NY). I don’t buy it.

What I see with Trump is a shallow, narcissistic opportunist. I’m not willing to be reeled in by his rhetoric. I don’t hate Trump, but he has not, nor will he ever earn my trust.

Exactly, Trump did his thing and now all the other candidates are locked in place like a bunch of spineless drones.

Remember, Megan didn’t ask Trump a tough question, she put him on trial accusing him of woman hating. Her evidence was a lie and exaggerations which were proven to be BS unequivocally afterwards.

Cruz can face Megan and hopefully for him, she won’t make up some crap.. and he will also have to face the Google moderators who both hate every molecule of conservatism and America.

Basically the people Fox lined up to moderate would be equivalent to having a democrat debate moderated by Rush, Alex Jones, Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter.

tDoes anyone else recognize the egomania of this candidate? He thinks more highly of himself than Obama thinks of himself.

I think it's a put on. A show. It's hyperbole designed to attract attention. Everybody I've seen who has actually worked with him or knows him doesn't say this is how he is in real life. They generally think he's a great guy. Where's all the Paula Jones? Where's all the black, Asian or hispanic employees accusing him of racism? Where's all the women employee's accusing him of sexism? I'm just not seeing it.

I think he is an orange, narsasistic, self-serving populist, pandering to the weak-minded. I for one am delighted he will not be there. That said I have no idea why those that don’t like him care whether he is there or not.

“I don’t get why people think this is such a pie in the sky notion or worse yet why they think it’s a lie. It’s a construction project to him and if he knows anything it’s construction projects.”

It’s largely because people simply don’t trust Trump. Over the years his policy positions have shifted more than Sahara sand in a windstorm. Why are we expected to believe THIS time Trump “means it” with this “build a wall” rhetoric?

I posit that most of the Trumpbots and Cruzbots are lib trolls infiltrating here and trying to stir up the pot. They usually bring up talking points that libs often bring up, such as, as you pointed out: "Oooh...Trump can't handle questions from a girl how's he going to handle (FILL IN THE BLANK DESPOT)?" Typical liberal snark that has no real sound reasoning behind it, other than to goad people and riling our emotions. Liberals are good at riling people. It's their M.O.

I agree. With Trump out, that means that Cruz is front and center and in the spotlight. For purposes of this debate, HE is the frontrunner and all the other candidates have to line up on either side of him (with Jebbie pretty much falling off the stage).

The Cruz supporters should be wildly ecstatic about this turn of events as it gives Cruz a chance to shine.

I do, he is that on steroids.....megalomaniac is more precise. Me, Me, Me, myself and I.....big me, little you.

Being all that, he should have no problem debating Cruz in a one on one. And don't tell me he has won 6 debates already, a megalomaniac always wants one more.

Why he could knock CRUZ out with 1 KO punch in the first round, piece of cake, right?/s. Come on out and play Donnie. Dare ya, double dare ya.

I noticed this also. They are hysterical. There was hardly any reaction when Paul skipped a debate. They keep repeating the same nonsense - that Trump is afraid of Kelly. Don't they realize how stupid they sound?

Cruz's reaction has been disappointing. I thought he did well until recently. His comments today especially have sounded desperate, not like him. Somebody is giving him bad advice.

He had no "policy". He had statements that he made as a public figure. Why he made them are probably tied to whatever project he was working on or whoever he was negotiating with which is why he was making a public statement. That's not policy. It's negotiation. I don't think you can extend those statements to what he'd actually DO as President. What he's promised to do is in general to enact conservative policies. I think he will keep that promise.

"Running for President is serious business not a publicity stunt."

Yes it is. That's why many of us agree with Trump, and applaud him for pulling out of the debates.

They’re mad because they thought they could “gotcha” Trump with that illegal immigrant questioner spinning a sob story while pretending to ask a question.

And then there's the koranimal who will spin the fantasy the we made them blood thirsty animals because we refuse steadfastly humbly to accept their taqiya and Sharia kool aid...

You’re right. They got so shrill today I finally turned off the computer and read a book.

Why, I don’t know. Maybe all the sudden there won’t be anyone to blame if Cruz doesn’t perform brilliantly? Maybe just repeating his talking points? Why is he making such a big deal about it? Afraid to be on the stage by himself?

At any rate, it was a great book, Preston & Child, The Crimson Shore. :)

I think debate is an important and valuable civic function. I think he believes he is above it.

That might be true if people actually knew what a debate is.
What we get are delusional jackass nothing moderators pretending that they are wise and profound, concentrating on banalities.
