In an interview this morning on This Week, Donald Trump cited his desire to "help people" as the reason he favors government-funded universal health coverage. Unlike Ted Cruz, Trump said, "I have a heart."

"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

I'm not collecting Medicare

I assume you're a physician? I'm interested in how that has affected your total business?

Trump is simply selling Health Care Savings Account as Universal Health Care. You need to get him to explain the policy details, not engage in knee jerk reaction

Trump is not for single payer. He is all about free market competition for health care and HSA accounts. The universal health care quote is the safety net for the indigent. It used to be charity hospitals now its medicaid. He wants to be sure people know that he’s not messing with the saftey net in place and will improve the way that works as well by increasing competition.

What do you expect? He is a New York liberal and casino owner. Who knows what this buffoon would do? He has never held any public office. We do know he donated money to the Clintons.

It's even worse than NR. Some people have taken to quoting him. Unfair.

No, you are wrong. You are being intellectually dishonest and not looking at the truth of what he has said repeatedly. Looking an gottcha snippets may be fun but its a disservice to the country and to fellow freepers.

If Trump can figure a way to make it work would you still not want it?

Sure because how could yet another entitlement program have an impact on government spending?

His supporters ignore that Trump is saying he is a good person because he wants to “help people”

This is a LIBERAL TALKING POINT! and probably the basis for all of liberalism

Trump supporters need to get honest

Tricare is a government funded healthcare system for the military and retirees, and their families.

Trump’s big fix will be putting the 40-90 million idle citizens back to work.

The increased government income stream, and the cessation of public dole outlays, will make the government coffers adequate to support Medicare and SS again.

Plus it will help him reduce the federal debt.

He has top level finance men chomping at the bit to take the federal budget on.

Can’t wait.

I would join you in urging caution about going after pharmaceutical companies.

New medications don’t just happen.

Pharmaceutical companies attempt over 100 medications before they find a new useful item.

That costs a lot if money.

"Right now I am reading James MacGregor Burns bio on FDR and he wasn’t a Socialist."

With all due respect Captain Peter Blood, even if FDR did not know what socialism is, although his heart was arguably in the right place, he thought like a socialist.

You choose to close your ears when Trump clearly stated he is NOT FOR SINGLE PAYER.

Yes, I AM AN AGITATOR — for AMERICAN NATIONALISM.
Deal with it.

When asked how to pay for it, he gives the same answer as the Democrats... “Government will pay for it”.

I assume you're a physician? I'm interested in how that has affected your total business?

Why would you make that assumption? And what in the world would that have to do with the fact that Medicare is insolvent under generally accepted principles of accounting?
