In an interview this morning on This Week, Donald Trump cited his desire to "help people" as the reason he favors government-funded universal health coverage. Unlike Ted Cruz, Trump said, "I have a heart."
"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

You’re right. Just like Obama was a blank slate (look what we got), Trump is a blank slate.

They supported Romney, whose Romneycare was the precursor to Obamacare, but they insist on lying about Trump’s healthcare position to try to do him in.
I guess that’s really no surprise, since NR is even more dependent on the GOPe big donor types for their survival—basic paychecks plus—whereas our corrupt GOPe pols at least get their underlying salaries, pensions, healthcare, etc., funded by us.
Trump called upon a small business owner at the rally to help make his case; that he is and will be a job creator for America. “Everybody I’m sure has seen the 60 Minutes piece from five years ago,” said David McNeer of Newton. McNeer was highlighted in that famous 60 Minutes report from 2010. In the report, McNeer said his company, Maxim Advertising, was hurt by the recession and was getting smaller and smaller. “The next morning he got a call from Trump`s office and he said we`d like to do a little business with you, and so he put him next to some people that did some business, and that was really genuine I think on his behalf,” said David McNeer’s father, John McNeer.
David McNeer says after the 60 Minutes report aired, he got calls and text messages from customers, suppliers, and competitors, and a special call from Mr. Trump. “But, I did not get one call from one politician. Not from the City of Newton, not from the County, not from the State, not a U.S. Senator, not a U.S. Congressman. Nobody took five minutes, or three minutes, or five seconds to pickup a phone and give me a call. Hell, they could have done it for a photo-op for god’s sakes, it was two days before the election,” said David McNeer. “But Mr. Trump, out of the goodness of his heart, asked what he could do to help us,” said David McNeer.
David McNeer says Trump cared about him and his small business then, and he cares about bringing jobs back to America now. McNeer now does business with Trump. “If you’re wearing a product from Maxim Advertising tonight, and a lot of you are, you’ll look in there and you’ll see the label, and you’ll see ‘Made in the U.S.A.’ You’ll see it on these buttons are made in the U.S.A. Those shirts are made in the U.S.A. Everything we do is made here in the U.S.A., and that’s the way we put America back to work again,” said David McNeer.
Commies always think they are the enlightened ones who can finally make it work, despite its consistent history of failure.
One of my many issues with Trump is this kind of comic-book approach to a serious and complex issue, demeaning a person rather than advocating a solution. I find it insulting to my intelligence and worthy only of a Democrat.

And as for the "people wanting it?" Complete BS. 0-care has never enjoyed majority support, and single payer will be far more unpopular than the PPACA.

If I were Trump, I’d tell you that dogs have four legs — and I’d frame it as an attack on Ted Cruz.
It’s a campaign. State the obvious, and frame it as an attack on your opponent. There is no mystery here.
I mean — Ted Cruz at one point stated that Donald Trump’s mother was born in Scotland. And Cruz framed that as an attack on Trump. But there is nothing negative about having a mother born in Scotland. And yet, politicians campaign by stating the obvious and framing it as an attack on their opponent.
And he implied Cruz wouldn’t, which is a lie. He also implied that that was not happening prior to Obamacare’s passage.
You know that Medicare is bankrupt and shouldn’t exist, right?

He is talking about the uninsured poor. He is talking about honest payment of those costs rather than hiding them in your hospital bill, doctor bill, or insurance bill.
If he is for YOU and not the uninsured poor, then why does he favor health savings accounts and buying health insurance across state lines?
We all know what the poor did in the past. They flooded the emergency rooms, the emergent care centers, and they were treated under good Samaritan rules. It wasn’t free, so HOW did those places recover those expenses?
FWIW, I think we all agree. We wouldn’t just let someone die on the floor if they dropped from a heart attack and we knew they weren’t covered. We’d call the EMS knowing exactly what would happen to those costs.
I understand where you are coming from, but on the other hand, this is what politics has been reduced to in this country, it’s all about sound bites and insults, because that’s what works. Nobody has time to hear speeches of boring policy wonks.
I don’t like it neither, but there it is.
That is part of the problem. The Medical monopolies have to be torn down. If Trump ever understands this then we can get rid of Obamacare along with those and possible drop medical costs 50% to 80%. Make private insurance much more affordable, expand HSA’s where the accumulation is Tax free and it’s use Tax Free also. All basic incidental costs paid for out of the HSA. Then you require the Hospitals and Doctors to have published prices.
Eliminate third payors and massive cost shifting viv a vi Medicare and Private. Lots of ideas and they can work.
“Lifelong DEM”? In the past thirty years, Trump was a registered Republican for over twice as long as he was a registered Democrat.
If Trump wins, on of the reason twill be the tactics used by the other candidates, their supporters and the Conservative media establishment like NRO, Red State, Town Hall, etc.
Attacking Trump supporters for supporting Trump as being low intelligence white trash racists was really really stupid politically. Screaming insults at people then expecting them to listen to anything you have to say was stupid.
Better tactics would of been to praise the way Trump beats the media, thank him for “parting the Red Sea of Media bias” and making the campaign about issues that are important to average voters. State “I really like Trump but am worried that he will follow through on his promises. I have a hard time trusting Trump”.
The Conservative media MIGHT of had some effect on Trumps support IF they had made a rational case on “can we trust Trump” instead of following the Leftists Media’s SOP of the infantile snark and the bile laced personal attack.
The result is the barrage of attack on Trump have merely hardened his support and caused his people the Conservative media MIGHT of been able to sway to simply stop listening to the attackers.
I wouldn’t be against universal general health coverage and single payer if the right people were in charge. But the right people are NEVER in charge: in fact, I doubt they exist.
