Ryan, McCarthy again tell Chaffetz to stay away from Clinton
Politico ^ | February 4,2016 | JAKE SHERMAN and RACHAEL BADE

Speaker Paul Ryan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy met privately with Rep. Jason Chaffetz Wednesday evening to reiterate that he cannot proceed with any investigation that involves Hillary Clinton, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting.

The impetus for the gathering was a POLITICO story where Chaffetz, the chairman, of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was quoted as saying that a pending probe into government record keeping practices would not be "specifically trying to target the secretary, but when she creates her own private email system, she's ensnarled herself.” Presented with the quote before publication, House Republican leaders were taken aback, saying they told Chaffetz to steer clear of Clinton in his broader probe of the use of personal email addresses to conduct government business.

House Republican leadership is moving cautiously when it comes to Clinton. Ryan and McCarthy have been clear about their preference that the FBI handle anything Clinton related. But Chaffetz's comments led to confusion in Republican leadership.

I agree with that too.

Let the FBI investigation run it’s course. Let DoJ make the indictment call. If they refuse to indict, THATS the right time for the GOP Congress to step in.

These guys are being blackmailed by the Dems.

McCarthy is already compromised. We know he has a gal pal in NC who is also in the house. That's why he is not speaker. But, I searched high and low and can't find anything on Ryan. If anyone here has anything please let me know.

The only thing I found, and it's a stretch, is that he didn't want they job then he goes on a a weekend trip with Mitt Romney comes back and is all of a sudden ready for the speakership.

If you go "follow the money" on that one than maybe something happened but what?

Recently another 50 agents were added to the investigation just to look into the Clinton library and massage parlor. One can only image what they are finding.

Yes it smells bad but I would rather have a criminal investigation than a relatively impotent congressional one.

After all what have House investigations ever resulted in.

Exactly; when we have a new DOJ .. with a leader who is not afraid to demand justice.

Even if they impeach Lynch nothing happens. The Senate would never convict, and I doubt they would even be able to get the votes for impeachment in the House. Nobody would take a political risk like that this close to an election.

True it is bad optics for them and even if the media is playing defense, they won’t be able to stop Hillary’s opponents from continually raising the issue.

I think, if the FBI recommends indictment, we’ll see Sanders (or some last-minute candidate like Biden) win the nomination instead.

It's not just that some lunkhead might open his yapper and say something stupid, but that those Committees have zero legal power to punish anyone. All they can do is investigate, turn the information over to the DOJ or FBI, and hope they decide to prosecute.

That has nothing to do with "RINOs", or the "Uniparty", or anything else. It's just a fact that Congress can't actually punish Hillary.

The best, fastest way to have something happen is to not do anything that might interfere with or prejudice the FBI investigation. Even if people don't trust it, it is the only way under the law that anything can ever happen. It's in the hands of the FBI now, and there's not a damn thing Chaffetz or anyone else can do to change that.

“However, this may be for the best.”

I agree. It’s not good for HRC if prominent Republicans are (supposedly) saying, “Lay off Hillary.” The only defenses HRC has regarding the emails are “it’s those mean Republicans, out to get me” and “Everyone does it!” (The latter defense is why we’re hearing about John Kerry, etc supposedly using personal email for classified info.)

Well, Bill had a very serious heart attack; surgery; long recovery.

The chances of some brain damage is not out of the realm of possibilities.

I heard about people noticing his hand trembling; and truly, he looked very, very pale .. it was shocking.

“We no longer have a Nation Of Laws.”

If two years from now, HRC is President AND nothing has happened regarding her emails, I'll agree with that statement 100%. But don't give up yet. This may the last chance for our country, but it is still a chance. I'm hearing from well-connected Dems I know — a sibling of a close friend worked in the Obama White House at a high level — that Dems are scheming to push HRC out of the race and put Biden/Warren in her place. I know that's been kicked around all over the web, but I believe such scheming really is going on. Also, this same sibling-of-a-friend told his sibling NINE months ago that HRC was in genuine legal trouble on account of the emails. “Her problems are legal, they are real, and they are only going to get worse. It doesn't matter if the media ignore the story or if her poll numbers remain high; she's in real trouble.”

In a corporate environment, it would likely be a condition of employment to eschew use of non-corporate resources and communication methods to conduct corporate business. Such methods could easily be open to iundustrial espionage compromising business agreements, trade secrets, and in-process litigation.

Why is not the in-your-face Clintonesque refusal to heed understood security measures a treasonous actionable misdeed, entailing hard penitentiary sentences?

Bunch of cowards, all.

*Bill Clinton Battling Brain Damage.*

I really feel that he is in bad shape. Seeing him standing behind her shaking and baking with an open mouth and lips moving with her words like an imbecile.

Sad.
