The fury of Ben Carson (campaign vows to make Cruz pay)
Politico ^

The candidate and his flailing campaign look consumed with one thing: Making Ted Cruz pay for 'dirty tricks' in Iowa.

Five days from the New Hampshire primary, Ben Carson has yet to set foot in this state since his fourth-place finish in Iowa. His detour to Florida for a fresh set of clothes has become a running joke online. The candidate is, by all indications, consumed by what he calls the "dirty tricks" of Ted Cruz’s campaign.

"Dr. Carson feels absolutely robbed, violated," said Armstrong Williams, a Carson confidant, in a phone interview. "He realizes, the Democrats are not his enemies trying to malign him. It's people who smile in his face, shake his hand, go out to dinner with him - and yet, they’re trying to destroy him behind his back."

They are still looking, but may have to pay someone.

Trump has bought a lot of politicians. I'm sure he won't have any trouble buying a voter.

It was Bens strange behavior for clothes and the actions of his staff that caused all of this. He was the source of all this. Without those stupid actions none of this would have happened.

And it's the rape victim's fault for wearing shorts in the summer, the European sexual assault victim's fault for walking by migrants.

Do you hear yourself?

He didn’t say that. He said Carson described himself as having a pathology.

He didn't say what "pathology" that he had diagnosed Carson as having, but basically said it was the same kind of "pathology" that Child Molesters have. That it can't be cured.

Talk about despicable!

That was probably the lowest any candidate has sunk in a long time.

But Carson shrugged that off and now he is all pissed off that Cruz's people repeated the CNN story.

You Trump sycophants are really something.

After you get done destroying Cruz, will you set your sights on Carson again?

As is often mentioned, politics is a rough game. If Dr. Carson thinks he’s been badly treated (to a certain extent I can agree with that), he should consider what the Dems would do to him if he looked like a real threat to win the Republican nomination.

Insofar as evaluating Dr. Carson as a potential President, the thing that worries me is that it appears to me that he sort of “ran out of gas” and needed a break. Most of us would. But a President cannot afford that, at least not in this manner, and at this level of “drain”.

Any unbiased and neutral observer knows that Carson’s problems start at home. I remember the moment his numbers went from going down just a little, to really going down.

It was when someone in his campaign said that Carson was having a hard time getting the international stuff. Wish I could find the article, I can’t remember who said it.

I think that you are right...Trump made his attack so painfully personal to someone of Ben’s caliber, that there is no way that Ben could ever want to co-mingle in any way with Trump.

I am a Trump supporter and I was really upset by the level of his attack on Ben.

Newsmax pointed out that the attack on Ben was a huge negative for Trump in Iowa....and I agree.

Since all the candidates have negatives, we have to pick and chose the negatives wisely....which is what is making this cycle so fluid.

And, no comment needed re Cruz....I am stunned at what has come out on Cruz.

What are we, the Poor Electorate, to do?

Rubio is just more of same McConnell/Boehner/Lyin’ Ryan ilk.

So, given all that, I still think that Trump has the best chance of crushing that way DC works....so I guess I will stick with Trump.

I’ve never set my sights on Dr. Carson. I like him. In fact, he’s still my second choice, the only other true outsider who wants to change this corrupt government. Also, only takes small donations. Cruz, Rubio et al taking from everyone so Dr. Carson lags in campaign cash.

And we’re not destroying Cruz, he did that to himself.

But he has an "incurable pathology". How can you support someone with a mental disorder to be the President of the United States?

Or do you agree that Trump was being an @$$#ole?

Do you hear yourself? You’re comparing a (at worst) dirty trick in the middle of a political campaign to a sexual assault.

That’s some Hillary level “war on women” conflation right there.

You do realize that Rubio is going to win the nomination, don't you?

Trump and Cruz are both self destructing. Watch Rubio win New Hampshire.

We live in interesting times.

This is ridiculous .. the real perpetrator of the Carson mess is CNN and Rubio .. and not Cruz.

>> [Carson] has no love for either [Trump or Cruz].

...and apparently no great love for his country, either.

It didn’t change a damn thing. Carson outperformed his polling numbers. There was no shift away and if there was there’s no reason to think it went Cruz and not others as well. If any change, it might be .1%. Maybe.

There’s a reason precinct representation is there and it’s to lobby for their guys/girl, and to use FUD to try to win votes away. Why else would it be part of the event every year to have each precinct represented by campaign officials. It’s not to serve coffee and donuts. It’s to win over caucus attendees.

Not his greatest analogy but not despicable.

Yes, that's despicable. One thing Trump is really, really good at, smear by innuendo. Yeah sure, I'm not saying he's got pedophilia or anything, it's just a lot like it, incurable. The single most dispicanble thing said this whole campaign by one candidate against another, bar none.

Peace,

SR

Well, speaking of crap, since you chose that word first: NO ONE but a couple of Cruz supporters, that I have read, fabricates this inane straw man about Trump somehow losing votes due to the Cruz campaign tweets / e-mails about Carson. The questions are whether Carson lost any votes (possibly, but I doubt it was a large enough number to lose Carson a delegate), whether Cruz’ staff was in the wrong (for which I refer you to Cruz’ apology to Carson), and whether this is an ugly side of politics that Republicans would do well to forsake, at least among themselves (yes, and yes.)

Good Lord, Cruz is my 2nd choice, and you attack like a, well, never mind... The biggest doubt I have about Cruz is what sort of person attracts this many of this sort of follower. I ask a humorous question, and you go nuclear.

Look who is attacking fellow conservatives here, Mr. Log-in-your-eye.

I have no way of proving this but I'm convinced Armstrong Williams has lots of tentacles involved in this one. Williams himself "feels violated" here and most likely was the one who originated the message to begin with and now is demanding that heads roll.

He's muddled in much of Dr. Carson's campaign and gotten others removed before this, not to mention spending lavishly on Dr. Carson's dime, but that's Carson's choice.

Williams is a quite good shakedown artist and if you look closely at him, not above pitting people against each other (some of Carson's former staff, for instance.)

Some future time, someone will dig into this confusing non-story but for now, we've got a Primary Season to run.
