Trump on Cruz feud: 'I don't care about that anymore'
CNN ^ | February 4, 2016 | MJ Lee

The day after accusing Ted Cruz of winning the Iowa caucuses unfairly and asking for a rematch in the state, Donald Trump says he's now over it.

"I'm so much into this, into New Hampshire, that I just — I don't care about that anymore," Trump said in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper in Manchester, just five days out from next Tuesday's primary contest here. "This is the place I'm focused on now."

These comments, made at Theo's, a popular local pizza joint that serves up specialty Italian and Greek dishes, were in stark contrast to a tirade of angry tweets Trump sent out the day before, where he charged that the Texas senator had committed "fraud" in Iowa and called for a "new election."

The controversy started when CNN reported Monday night that Carson would go home to Florida following the Iowa caucuses instead of flying directly to the early voting states New Hampshire and South Carolina. The network added that he planned to stay in the race.

Some Cruz allies shared that news widely on the night of the caucuses, including to Carson supporters, but did not include the part about Carson remaining in the race.

Lol, glad to know that changing one’s mind or refining and improving an idea or concept is a bad idea.

Thank goodness Einstein, Edison,Alexander Graham Bell, Marconi, and others never did such a foolish thing.

Its about being petty....nothing he does is sincere.. Nothing else matters to him but winning, scorched earth. Say anything do anything.

It’s about the news cycle. He understands it, you don’t.

He hasn’t won anything yet. As you know the polls have been incredibly inaccurate.

IOW, he doesn't mean a damn thing he says. I figured that out weeks ago.

But I don't think Trump is psychologically capable of running that kind of campaign.

I agree Ted is mainly trying to focus on the issues.

Trump has to realize he has to change or he is done. If he doesn't change he'll lose more and more voters. People don't like nitpicking, don't like petty, don't like the Tweets, don't like the personal attacks and don't like the junior high bully stuff. Keep it Presidential and both will do fine. Trump can do this and focus on the issues. Ted can too. Both have to think long haul and keep their eye on the Prize. They're just getting started and the have Hillary to deal with plus a country to save. This is serious stuff!

The gravity of the threats we face in on everyone's mind. Let's focus on those. When you don't our anxiety goes up as we see this not only as self defeating and losing votes but a waste of valuable time, seconds actually, that can be devoted to the issues and the campaign. Make the media play to your drummer, not, "Let's you and him fight."

Sounds like he s been schooled by Newt Gingrich. Newt did an excellent job on Hannity last night.

Funny, you and I were just taking about that very thing. Sounds to me like Donald did hear Newt, and is smartly steering back on course.

I like that. It shows that Trump listens, then adjusts - something the current occupant on Pennsylvania Avenue does not.

The “principled” conservative did lie, and sacrificed “principled” on the altar of winning like any other status quo politician would do.

Trump is no Reagan, not even close.

Not even what one would call a student of Reagan.

Trump is of like mind with liberals, Reagan was not.

THAT sir, is the gist of Trump's popularity and (I think) his election to the Presidency

I relate to him as a human and how he has acted/reacted in the past to different stimuli

Vote Trump

Iowa is done and over and unchangeable. It’s time to focus on winning in NH and beyond. perfectly reasonable.

That’s not fair.

Both had show biz background, Reagan was actually registered democrat at one time, while Trump has donated to democrats, both had divorces, both turned more conservative as they got older.

Big difference is Trump has signed over 100,000 paychecks on the front in private sector while Reagan never signed any.

Polls in Iowa were off by only 5 points, cheating could account for that. Only time will tell if NH & SC & NV polls are any good.

I will keep an eye on his Twitter feed and see...

But really, have you ever been wronged—whether real or perceived—but after a night’s sleep, you’ve decided that it just wasn’t worth getting angry over in the morning?

But I have a big heart and if any FReeper came to NYC they could come visit and have a great big Italian meal prepared by me and my mother :) she’s only 82. Wife cooks decently too :)

Ah, MAN. Wish I’d known that last year when I was living in NYC. It would have been a blessed escape from the curse of instant noodles day in and day out.

Eh, the last Des Moines Register poll a few days B4 the Caucus showed Trump pulling ahead by, what, 5 points? I do not recall the margin of error. (This poll has very often been wrong.)

Then, I remember a couple polls posted on FR the day before the Caucus (one might have even been the same day.) They showed essentially a tie. Also, Cruz switched his last ads to against Rubio. With little other data to go on, and knowing Cruz was putting in a huge effort / ground game, I figured Ted had the advantage / late momentum vs. Trump. I cannot speak for anyone else’s analysis.
