Rush: If Conservatism Is Your Only Priority, There Is No Choice Other Than Ted Cruz
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 2/10/16 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 02/10/2016 2:17:21 PM PST by TBBT

If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz, because you are exactly right: This is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan.

***snip***

But for those of you that conservatism's the answer and conservatism is the way, you have no choice here. Ted Cruz has got to be your guy. There's nobody even close. Nobody.

Trump is by far the most conservative candidate

Be honest with me.....Did you really say that with a straight face?

It is stunning to me people can forget, or in some Trump supporting cases, completely ignore Ted Cruz’ fight against the establishment and Obama’s agenda. What do you say when conservatives won’t support a conservative who did exactly what they claim they want as Senator pledging the same as President because a rancorous New York Democrat switches his voter registration back to Republican and keeps everyone distracted by his side show antics. Believe me, I enjoyed some of it to but Ted Cruz is the real conservative here.

Trump was asked several times in NH to state that he would not expand Medicare and he refused. His response was to claim that we don't want people dying in the streets.

25% of many state budgets are dedicated to Medicare. That is not sustainable. These are the sorts of things that should cause every conservative to worry when it comes to Trump.

Id like the best conservative, but I’ll settle for the best republican president. The are NOT mutually exclusive.

The absolute critical immigration issue is not Muslim immigration (not yet at least), it’s amnesty for the illegals already here. Donald is going to give it to them, Cruz won’t. If they get it, that is game over for the USA and it won’t matter if Donald keeps all the Muslims out or not, because we’ll already be a 3rd world country.

So actively lobbying for Obama’s trade agreement is conservative now?

Just like helping to install that illustrious “conservative” Paul Ryan as Speaker?

Well said. For instance, I like Ben Carson. But he has no chance of winning the general. This is about saving the country. And I don’t think Cruz can win the general, either. I do think Trump can.

“Rush could not be more mistaken.”

I agree. Pushing TPA, and a 500% increase in H-1B visas is conservative ?

I think NOT.

But Trump, who went to expensive private schools, went to Wharton, got his start with a few million from his dad, has ties to big business, big banking, national political figures from both parties, media connections, is worth a few billion, does business with Soros and Buffet, etc - HE can play the "anti-elitist" card?

Somehow, he seems to get away with it.

Cruz doesn't. At least not once you get outside of his core support.

Maybe people who don't like Trump hate him as a vulgarian, so he gets a pass on the elite thing.

Or maybe he doesn't so much play the anti-elitist card himself as simply benefit from the anti-Establishment sentiment that's in the air.

Or there's more room for disappointment with Cruz because he promises more than Trump.

I'm not saying it's fair or it makes sense, but that's the impression I get.

There's a lot of Schadenfreude when it comes to Ted Cruz, and not just from liberals or Establishment Republicans.

Personally, I think Cruz would be a kick ass attorney general. . Let’s face it, there’s going to be a big steaming pile of $#!t clean up after Barry. Ted has the drive and the legal brains to do the job. After that, Chief Justice has a nice ring to it.

“I see those posted by Trump people mocking Cruz people, but none are factual or based in what Cruz people say.”

This is a complete lie. One so steeped in ignorance, that it’s absurd that you guys either are this unaware or this dishonest.

You guys running around calling people “fake Conservatives”, “fake Christians”, and all manner of other belittling names, while extolling how you all are such righteous, pious, “true conservatives” is infamous.

True. Look at Trump’s negatives. 67% of Republicans won’t vote for him.

He would lose to Bernie Sanders.

But Cruz was for both TPA and TPP until the last minute when he realized he was out of sync with the voters. Trump on the other hand didn't even have to read it. Trump inferred it was not in our best interest because he knew we didn't have competent people negotiating it, and because the prior deals have not been in our best interest.

Cruz's prior support not only calls into question his competence on the economy but his people judgment skills. Why on earth would he trust Obama on something he hadn't read?

As far as the gold standard, there is no case that an be made for returning to it. And even when we were on the gold standard, Congress still was able to debase the currency every time there was a crisis. So the gold standard doesn't protect against that.

It does however ensure that you'll have constant deflation which is horrible for the economy. Unless of course, there is a major gold find, like the California gold rush which caused hyper-inflation in the U.S. Some of the swings in the dollar purchasing value while we were on the gold standard was greater than +/- 20%. That's not good for business.

The only people a gold standard would be great for is speculators like Soros and maybe China which is currently the largest producer of gold.

is conserve, then conservative means one who conserves money.

Too bad Trump didn't have more time in the debate to cover the word "assume" too.

“As the cliche accurately has it, most of these issues would not be mentioned were it not for Trump.”

THAT is why Trump is the best conservative running.

Does a conservative have no immigration policy for months? Cruz was silent while Trump talked about deportation, walls, crimes, stealing jobs. A real conservative wouldn’t just sit back and be silent.

Cruz even condescendingly said ‘The American people don’t want to have that conversation.” - about what to do with the illegals here. That he’d discuss that later. Funny, that is also what Rubio is saying too!

For Trump the illegals have to leave and then reapply to enter legally.

Cruz won’t even make them leave. “Enforce the laws” doesn’t make it so. How long have we heard that crap?
