You cannot let people take over federal property...at a certain point you have to do something
Jan 7, 2016 | Donald Trump

Posted on 02/10/2016 7:36:18 PM PST by ifinnegan

"I think what I'd do, as president, is I would make a phone call to whoever, to the group," he said, adding later, "I'd talk to the leader. I would talk to him and I would say, 'You gotta get out -- come see me, but you gotta get out.'"

"You cannot let people take over federal property," Mr. Trump said. "You can't, because once you do that, you don't have a government anymore. I think, frankly, they've been there too long."

Mr. Trump said he wasn't necessarily suggesting a large-scale military action, but that "at a certain point you have to do something and you have to be firm and you have to be strong, you have to be a government."

While the story of the West is not quite the American Revolution - there are similarities:

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

...To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good....

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.....

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries...

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies ...

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States...

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent...

I agree but we need to devolve millions of acres of land away from the central federal government and into the private ownership marketplace. There is no excuse whatsoever for fed govt owning 90% of Nevada, etc. (recommendation: limit sales to American citizens to avoid possibility of very serious problems arising)

Bingo!

Good point!!

I saw some reference to giving Federal lands to the states as some Cruz conspiracy and Agenda 21. They said something like “as soon as the states have it, they will sell the land to the Chinese to accomplish Agenda 21 - that is why Cruz is for State’s rights!”

it only takes a few hundred dollars to form an American corporation.
also, communist China has thousands of agents or business reps here in USA, many with USA citizenship

either way, lots of land could wind up in foreign hands

but of course this is true today for non-fed-owned lands

I was just hoping to figure out a way to prevent vast amounts of the fed lands going to foreign buyers, too

maybe offer 160 acre homesteads for free to American citizens, (like in the old days), one per? or????

this would not keep it all safe but would avoid a communist Chinese or proxy purchaser from being able to pick up a million acres at a time

or?

I can sell you some land in Nevada, though only partially glows in the dark and you'll be financially responsible for bringing it up to current EPA code. There's some other parcels you can have if you get your way, but a big patch or two has terrible noise from airplanes overhead. The third piece of prime real estate puts on a fireworks show for the locals and visitors, and since you probably don't know how to safely store those fireworks, it would be real terrible to deny those folks their long time tradition.

That's the big sticking point, and I am with you totally.

Who owns the land ? And who can it be sold to ?

From 1986 through 1994, two years after the United States put a hold on full-scale nuclear weapons testing, 536 demonstrations were held at the Nevada Test Site involving 37,488 participants and 15,740 arrests, according to government records.

On February 5, 1987, more than 400 people were arrested, when they tried to enter the nation's nuclear proving grounds after nearly 2,000 demonstrators held a rally to protest nuclear weapons testing. Those arrested included the astronomer Carl Sagan and the actors Kris Kristofferson, Martin Sheen, and Robert Blake. Five Democratic members of Congress attended the rally: Thomas J. Downey, Mike Lowry, Jim Bates, Leon E. Panetta, and Barbara Boxer.

American Peace Test (APT) and Nevada Desert Experience (NDE) held most of these.[13] In March 1988, APT held an event where more than 8,000 people attended a ten-day action to "Reclaim the Test Site", where nearly 3,000 people were arrested with more than 1,200 in one day. This set a record for most civil disobedience arrests in a single protest. American Peace Test was collectively run by a group of individuals residing in Las Vegas, but leadership for the group was national. It originated with a small group of people who were active in the National Nuclear Weapons Freeze. APT was a breakaway organization beginning in 1986, with first public events held in 1987.

“Every one of us has a constitutional right to protest, to speak our minds,” Cruz told reporters in Iowa. “But we don’t have a constitutional right to use force and violence and to threaten force and violence against others. So it is our hope that the protesters there will stand down peaceably, that there will not be a violent confrontation.”

“You’ve got to follow the law. You cannot be lawless,” Rubio told KBUR in an interview highlighted by Buzzfeed. “We live in a republic. There are ways to change the laws of this country and the policies. And if we get frustrated with it, that’s why we have elections, that’s why we have people we can hold accountable.”

our pathetic federal gub mint has control over about 80 + percent of land west of the Mississippi River.
Why?
Why not give it back to the States?

He has not very smart afterall.

He mentioned giving them his ear - that seems smarter than the current regime.

What has Cruz said on the topic? Enquiring minds want to know both sides of the story before jumping the shark.

Trump is no better than the crooks we have in Washington now.

What has your candidate said on the matter? If it's so important to you, then you really need to ask that question.
