His parents failed to file a CRBA form which is required by US law. Ted’s parents did not fill out the required form until 1986.

Here’s the real question.
Was Cruz a NBC or did his citizenship depend on acts of Congress that have changed over the history of our country?
Canada at one point did not allow dual citizenship. You were Canadian only. Not sure if Cruz was born under those laws.
Interesting. What is more interesting to me is that the Framers used the words specifically “natural born” to differentiate from just plain “citizen.” Only the eligibility to serve as president and command in chief requires this designation. Citizen is not the question. Natural born citizen as required by the constitution is the point.
I will admit there are many interesting arguments prsented, but the only real issue goes back to the old KISS (Keep it simple, stupid) Cruz was NOT born in the US of Two Citizen parents, therefore he is NOT a natural born citizen.
I have always maintained that Cruz is very “soft” on illegals. Too soft for me. Nice article. Thank you.

Correction, he MAY have been born a citizen but he was NOT a natural born citizen ever.

If you think that being “NBC” somehow better qualifies Trump to be President you’re confused. Far from making “America Great Again”, he’s likely to be an unmitigated disaster. His various utterances have made it crystal clear he’s a buffoon.
I’m mystified at the level of support his bombast has generated.
I will likely vote for him if he’s the nominee, but it will be painful. I think we need a multiparty system.

I already explained that, but you blew off my argument. Cruz is naturalized, just as the subjects of those cases MUST BE, otherwise the cases would not exist. The case on;t settle NBC, but the establish that born-abroad to one citizen parent is naturalized. Naturalized and NBC are mutually exclusive.

The constitution does not requires SCOTUS justices to be citizens at all! All they have to do is take an oath.

Cruz was both a Canadian and US Citizen at birth, as natural born in both countries. He renounced his Canadianship.
