If He Wins, Do We Stand With Trump?
RedState ^ | 2/21/2016 | Joe Cunningham

Posted on 02/22/2016 4:05:20 AM PST by 20yearsofinternet

It's the million dollar question as we look to the possibility that Donald Trump is somehow the nominee: Do we as Republicans stand with him? Do we circle the wagons? Do we overlook everything in his past and say "You know what? Better than a Democrat."

The answer, for me at least, is decidedly "No."

I heard that Dread State will ban you if you say anything pro-trump. So, I’m not surprised that there is no dissension.

It should be noted that Ronald Reagan was a Democrat and an Actor at one time and never would have received RedState's vote because of his credentials...

Given the choice between two Cubans, a socialist, a communist and an American Icon, I know who to vote for.,..

Honestly, they’ve already seen the track record. They know who will stay home. The stats are a real science. Thats how the call elections early. They know a whole lot, to a degree it disturbs..

If he wins the nomination, if an (R) doesn’t stand and vote for him, then they stand with Hillary or Bernie and need to be reviled as such.

With Trump gaining momentum after SC, I see a shift in editorials. Writers are now launching a two pronged attack on Trump.

1. The “you’ll be sorry” editorial where they admit Trump will win the primary and/or general election, but somehow everything will go down the drain as a result (or the writer certainly hopes so). Call this the sour grapes editorial.

2. The “I’ll never vote for Trump” editorial. Typically a pouting tirade showing how they’ve about had enough of this business, and since Trump didn’t have the good manners to fold-up like they predicted in numerous editorials; they’re now going to show their displeasure by self destructing. Call this the “I’m gonna hold my breath” editorial.

From the blog...

...They will blame the base, a base they've alienated for so long that there is not trust being either group, and they will continue doing what they do.

Because of this, we stand a chance of there being no Republican in the general election for president. I've long resisted the idea of a third party, but if that is the scenario we face, I'll gladly jump ship to something I can believe in again.

Yeah, like the RNC has gone all in for Trump. What an idiot. Who does he think is voting? He is just pitching a fit because his influence has had no effect. The money is fixing to dry up or something in the biggest moneyball election ever on the planet Earth. You're fired!

Massive disconnect between that paragraph transition to his conclusion. I would say the base is fractured. Now I am sure this guy earns good money being a pontificate, so he has something else at stake here besides the country. Trump either changes the RNC with a clear reformation that gains momentum down ticket or we (the one's who get it) all leave it to these guys and run "other party". I think this is going to be next on the horizon folks, we could literally have a new party formation that will make the RNC the "third party". It might just have to happen.

If Trump keeps winning and takes the nomination, then new people are going to have to be accepted into the RNC which fundamentally changes it. This is "the deal" Trump needs to pull off so that the next two Elections count and continue the rebellion, win or lose. It doesn't stop with the end of this Election.

However, I believe if Trump has to leave, and even loses this Election by doing so, the movement goes bigger and on down the tickets in next two elections and drives the stake the rest of the way. Let's call it the "reform" party where we get stuff done for the country instead of ideological posturing of bills and votes that don't ever do anything but brand politicians for the next Election and wasting time. The whole middle will pour in and be pulled conservative from red and blue along with those on the fringes who can learn to influence and make deals to better things for their interests.

Maybe something like on the left, Bernie types, then the get something done people, and then on the right the Cruzers. Something like that. And yes, time was where I would be a Cruzer, but I'll just keep that in a different box than in Election Politics where it is used to posture, raise money, divide, fracture, alienate, and ultimately get nothing done. A Holy Ghost revival would be great in this country, but it isn't going to happen through politics as its pulpit. The one is ruined by the other.

The definition of an Establishment toady, is that he would rather have the Democrats win, than tolerate somebody who is not 100% "on the team".

In 2012, we had plenty of people here on FR who preferred another four years of Obama to tolerating Mitt Romney in the White House. That worked out SOOOO well.

Now we have people who would prefer 8 years of Hillary (who would complete the sell-out of America) rather than tolerate somebody they consider a vulgarian.

I would like to see Trump win just for the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of watching all the Dem whiners getting on the planes and ships to leave the US.

"Trump has a game plan i approve of."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You have zero idea what Trump's "game plan" actually is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

All you know is that he runs off at the mouth, saying things he knows you want to hear -- for now!

He has already said that he will change to suit the situation. Don't you believe him?

I would say yes I would vote for him over Clinton or Sanders at least at this point. However I think my wife would not be sure. In addition the man is so unstable that I can’t be sure he’ll not say something tomorrow that makes me change my mind.

The Republican Party has only itself to blame for this chaos..

Very true. They haven't nominated a true conservative since Reagan and have done their best to get rid of or marginalize any real conservative. The poorly kept secret is that the GOP loves big government as long as their country club donors get their share of federal dollars. The smaller the government, the less there is to give out and they certainly don't want that. In the mean time we have a $19 trillion debt that nobody knows how to repay, a campaign that focuses on cartoon characters (Sanders, Trump and Clinton)while the economic and moral structures of the country rot.

Back in college I read something about bread and circuses but I am not sure.

Joe Cunningham = Cruzor Loser,

In true Cruzor Loser fashion this guy is so invested in the narrative that Trump is a complete fraud that he would rather have Hillary as president than risk being proven wrong, Pathetic. It won’t be forgotten.

I'll stand with Trump, I won't stand with Rubio.

Let's revise that. We'll stand with Trump, who if he stands with Rubio, we will want to know what's the bigger plan.

Be it known that alienating and humiliating Trump is alienating and humiliating us. They better "get it" before it is too late.

So, if Trump loses fair and square (it could happen, there is media and a lot of other "infrastructure" that just may not be ready yet) and plays his chips and cuts some deals, I will hear from him on what the plan is and how to get there. I'm in further and further, and I hope we don't get marginalized again or it could just be "protest party" for me for a good long time. If my vote is already wasted, I will find a different outlet for wasting it.

But, I actually am feeling like things are set for this Election cycle to "win again", all the way through. It is always the people that "get it" first, and they are the one's voting.

Really? “Principled Conservatism” now means “If you don’t do what I want I take my ball and go home”?

Pathetically childish and stupidly short sighted. With Trump Conservatives at Red State have a seat at the table and the ability in influence events. Throwing a temper-tantrum like this and they become irrelevant noise

Not gonna vote for

funding planned parenthood
Touch and go amnesty
Healthcare Mandates
Centralized planning solutions designed by the “smartest people”.
Eminent Domain for the Rich at the expense of common people
Tarp supporter
Obama Stimulus Supporter
Auto bailout supporter

This will be represented as conservatism and will ruin the chance of getting a real conservative elected for another generation, we won’t have a republic by then.

No I won’t be voting to destroy this country. It will most likely be destroyed but not with my vote. I won’t be browbeat by fools who believe in a Reality TV star who is 69 with no core who is a malignant narcissist like the current president.

However with the dirt in Trump’s closet (Mob ties both Mafia and Russian) and his 60% disapproval nationally, he will be destroyed in the general election.

I Stand With Ted!

. . . but if the choice is Trump or Hillary, I will vote FOR Trump and work to ensure he wins.

Again, as a conservative, I am getting screwed, but while Trump is not Obi-Wan Kenobi, he might be our Nations’s only hope.
