At the GOP debate in Houston, Donald Trump pushed back at a claim from Texas Sen. Ted Cruz that Trump was in favor of the United States helping Libyans oust dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
"He said I was in favor in Libya," Trump said, sounding perplexed. "I never discussed that subject. I was in favor of Libya? We would be so much better off if Gaddafi would be in charge right now."
Oh, Trump discussed it.
And thanks to BuzzFeed, we have the video. (All the hat tips to Andrew Kaczynski.)
It comes from 2011, on Trump's video blog.
"I can't believe what our country is doing," Trump said, according to a BuzzFeed transcript. "Gaddafi in Libya is killing thousands of people, nobody knows how bad it is, and we're sitting around we have soldiers all have the Middle East, and we're not bringing them in to stop this horrible carnage and that's what it is: It's a carnage."
Trump continued.
"You talk about things that have happened in history; this could be one of the worst," Trump said. "Now we should go in, we should stop this guy, which would be very easy and very quick. We could do it surgically, stop him from doing it, and save these lives. This is absolutely nuts. We donât want to get involved and you're gonna end up with something like youâve never seen before."
And then ...
"But we have go in to save these lives; these people are being slaughtered like animals," Trump said. "It's horrible what's going on; it has to be stopped. We should do on a humanitarian basis, immediately go into Libya, knock this guy out very quickly, very surgically, very effectively, and save the lives."

I really think we need to check Donald’s family tree and compare it to Hillary’s. They both lie so easily (whenever their lips are moving) and so glibly and so often...
they’re probably related.
I think maybe it's you; Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean your worst scenarios about it are true. The fact that you can use Cruz and ethics in the same sentence leads me to believe you've a degree of psychological dislodgement that's chronic and ongoing... see, I'm a Trump supporter and I can talk in apocalyptic terms about nothing, too.
It doesn’t matter. There’s a standard for Trump and a standard for the rest of the world, and never the twain shall meet. Up is down. Down is up. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
A principled person doesn't have to remember. They know where they stand.
It is possible that Donnie is suffering from early symptoms of Alzheimer's.
I think before you make such stunningly ignorant and judgmental statements, you might, because of your stellar principles, want to consider that before June Trump was a business man and the head of a large and successful international company.
He dealt with the international media on an ongoing almost daily basis in that capacity. If you had any imagination or intellect you might get some insight as to how a statement on Libya wouldn't really register with him especially if just a current affairs question in an interview probably dealing with something financial.
It’s hopeless. They’ve drunk the Guyanan Flavoraid. His followers only see what they want to see. It’s worse than Bushbot-ism and Obama Worship. Never thought I’d see this within the GOP—it’s really quite something.
Exact same on Federal land.
Instead of flipping he just bald faced lies and denies ever saying it.
Or maybe he says so much on so many topics taking so many different sides that he cant remember what he said,
The only one who stood against the Corker Bill was Senator
Cotten. Senator Cruz should have too.
Cruz wants troops in harms way of Putin in the future.
It’s possible that Trump has studied some issues as a potential President and come to radically different conclusions than he did as a mostly apolitical public figure, and hasn’t cataloged and retracted every dumb statement he’s made before he decided to run.
It’s also possible he is lying through his teeth in order hand the election to Hillary.
I tend to think he’s changed his tune and his big ego makes it hard for him to admit when he’s been wrong.
Not a perfect conservative with a proven political track record, but if he can fix immigration and bust up the DC machine, that’s more than we get with the GOPe.
I used to read every thread listed for the day (more or less since the last time I logged on)..
Now, I am skipping most of the threads because of the ‘trash’ that is thrown in almost every thread. Even non-political threads end up being hijacked into a political thread :/
+1
... nor do I excuse it or make excuses for him.

Your entire posting was about making excuses for Trump.
Trump is truly the tephlon don
Is there.a war Rubio wouldnât support?

Depends on what his Democrat and RINO bosses tell him to do.
#25 Liar! /s
Their hatred for Cruz being an evangelical Christian is blinding them to the truth.
A thread chock full of Sore Cruzermen. Trump is going to be your President you know, and there is nothing you can do to stop it.
So what would DT have done after taking out Qaddafi besides grab the oil which the majority of protesters around the world said was the motive for the gulf wars?
When Trump speaks the connection between his mouth and his brain is severed. That’s why he can’t hold to a single topic for more than five seconds before going off on a tangent, and why what he says now is frequently at odds with what he said in the past, especially the recent past.
Actually that was John Vernon's character, Fletcher. Though I imagine Trumpsters would claim that he invented it.
