Pat Buchanan on GOP Supporting Rubio: 'Desperation and Total Panic'
Newsmax ^ | February 27,2016 | Todd Beamon

Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan ripped the Republican Party establishment on Saturday, saying that its backing of Marco Rubio over front-runner Donald Trump represented "a point of desperation and total panic."

"I'm sure it's delighted with Marco Rubio savaging Donald Trump," Buchanan, who ran for the White House three times, told Uma Pemmaraju on Fox News. "But really, Rubio, in the numbers he's gotten, suggest this: He's failed Middle America.

"Middle America has asked for 25 years — get control of the borders, stop these trade deals shipping jobs overseas, no more of these wars where Americans come back in body bags and the wars aren't won. The Republican establishment hasn't been listening to the people.

"Donald Trump, the success he's gotten, represents exactly the opposite side of the coin of the failures of the Republican establishment," he said. "That's why he's winning all these votes."

Buchanan said that if the fight for the nomination ended up with a brokered convention in July — and Trump is not the nominee — "it would rip the party to pieces as has not been done since 1912, when Theodore Roosevelt walked out and created a new party and sent William Howard Taft to win the election."

Pat nails it. A lightweight lawyer who cannot even take his own state has no business running for President.

Even if Trump gets the nomination, the GOP is splitsville.

"...and sent William Howard Taft to win the election."

Little known historical fact: I believe his name was actually "William Howard Heft":

Full Disclosure: any resemblance to G.K. Chesterton is purely coincidental:

Full Meta-disclosure: Gee, that turned out even better than I had thought it would when I started...

DT has gone after the Rube and has kept kind of quiet about TC. I see a partnership in the making. ;-)

He’s right on, always has been.

If he gets too much approval, rest assured someone will come in shrieking Hitler.

Wasn’t Taft the first to put a bath tub in the WH, and it was the size of a stock tank? I suppose Rubio would put a ... hot tub in the WH. (”Don’t drop your loofah!”)

Pat’s wrong about one thing though. There would not be a Bull Moose-type party splinter from the GOP. It would be a new Conservative party replacing them, with the GOP-e (Dem-Lite) party going the way of the Whigs.
And it may happen even if Trump is esconced in the WH without having to run a gauntlet of frantic neo-cons.
Americans are fed up with having only one party until election times.

Little known historical fact: I believe his name was actually “William Howard Heft”:

Recently read a Taft biography, he was an interesting guy. Taft was certainly a large fellow while in the Whitehouse, during his last official medical record in his 2nd year in the Whitehouse he weighed in at 340lbs, and was estimated to be over 400lbs by the time he left office, though no official medical records exist (the Whitehouse scales topped out at 350lbs). The funny thing is although Taft was always a large guy (around 300lbs) he ballooned up to his heaviest during his Whitehouse years and quickly dropped back down as soon as he left. He went on to live to 72 (a pretty decent lifespan for those days). Most experts attribute his weight gain to a combination of stress and attending all the dinners Presidents went to in those days.

Until about 10 yrs ago, I thought of Pat as the crazy uncle who just said whatever came to mind - right or wrong.

Now I realize he was just 20 yrs ahead of his time. Right about pretty much everything, and no one really appreciated it back then.

The democrat politicians keep their promises to their voters.

Seems like the GOPe also helps with keeping the promises to the democrat voters.

Who is for us? GO TRUMP!

I’d LOVE for the two of them to bury the hatchet, get this NBC crud settled or let Cruz settle for a cabinet position, and then go together with a united front.

I fear it’s not going to happen, unless the two of them did like a Chris Christie thing and are using Cruz as a mole within the establishment circles.

And that is exactly what they will do. They will break the Republican party to put their agent Hillary Clinton in control.
