Construction workers building Elon Musk's Tesla gigafactory in Nevada went on strike Monday.
Union officials said that 350 workers walked off the site due to low wages of $12 to $14 per hour.
"Hopefully Tesla gets the message as far as the substandard wages problem that needs to get fixed," Eloy Jaram, a representative for Laborers Union Local 169, told This Is Reno. "Most of the union guys walked out. [They] walked out of the job."
The union has repeatedly complained that Telsa outsourced some jobs to a third party, non-union contractor.

Yes, Good things ALWAYS come from Unions, don’t they?
This is beautiful.
Yeah. Unions killed Twinkies, maybe they can kill electric vehicles too.
How can that be? Tesla is so P.C. Tesla is so kind to the environment. Tesla is what every liberal, globalist wants. Along with low wages.
Too early in the day for popcorn. Probably need to come back to this thread late afternoon.
That was Ding-Dongs...
Somehow, I think a Twinkie would survive longer than one of them high priced battery packs. :0)
Archaeologists will one day unearth Twinkies still “fresh” in the wrapper.
Like Spam...I love the stuff!
And that message is: "A factory located in a low-wage country like Mexico might not be such a bad idea!"
There, Tesla could pay $6/hr - which would by no means be a "substandard wage."
Regards,
Does that workforce speak Polish and are they sleeping at the job site?
They could get away with a lot less than that. The Mexican minimum wage is less than $6 a day.
I remember the speech where Lee Iacocca told the UAW there were plenty of jobs at the prevailing wage the company was offering, but at the much higher rate the union was demanding, he didn’t have a damn one.
Taxpayer handout parasite Musk will just try to find a way to push the cost outlay onto us via yet another subsidy.
$12 to $14 to build cars. Yea, I’d say they have a beef.
Of course, our middle class continues to tank, disappear actually.
I think these people are building the factory.
Nah. They’re building a battery factory. Not the “zero emissions*” cars. They’ll be built someplace else.
*Less lubricants, steel manufacturing, tires, power plants to supply the zero emissions electricty etc......But at least those that buy one will sleep better at night knowing they’re saving the erf.
