That has been my theory from the first and I have stated it here. In his book he said there was something about his birth certificate that shocked him. I believe it was that his parents were never married. Back in the day that would have mattered, so he continued the lie his mother had told him. Now it doesn’t matter but he is stuck with the lie, but he and Michelle have both let the truth slip.
It would also explain the fake. He is trapped with the lie otherwise he is illegitimate.

It’s sad, and I surely don’t understand it, but the vast majority of the Jewish population of the US will vote Democrat, ANY Democrat. Not surprising then that Cruz worked for the Bush family over a period of 20 years.
People need to do a better job of vetting candidates, particularly when they are not eligible.
