Wow is right, must have been some very serious threats.
In a way I am glad it was postponed. I had a bad feeling about tonight.
There are a large contingent of demonstrators outside the Pavilion chanting “Black Lives Matter”. The UIC Campus area has large Black neighborhoods that butt up right to the Campus on the west and south sides. So I suspect many of the demonsrators are activist Blacks from these neighborhoods as well as from other parts of the City.
Plus there are Universities nearby throughout the City, DePaul, Northwestern, John Marshall Law School, Loyola, IIT, University of Chicago, UIC of course being the campus that they are on, and others. Student activists will be heading for UIC from all over the City.
Many will be coming in on trains, the “Elevated” which loops throughout the City, underground loops of commuter trains, Metra trains that bring commutors in from the suburbs to Union Station and other big stations. Then there is the whole system of buses, all public transportation, along with taxi’s, Uber, and of course the major expressways coming into the City from the north, west, and south suburbs for those travelling by automobile.
After the rally is over is when there could very well be trouble. All these people out on the streets, and many of them will be just hanging out looking for trouble rather than going straight home, like the Trump supporters will be doing. Fights could break out with protesters attacking Trump supporters. I suspect the Campus and City police are out en masse. Hot time in the old town tonite.
ALERT; There are tons of protesters inside. The Trump rally has been postponed or possibly cancelled. Stay tuned!!!
