BREAKING: Nathan Deal will veto Georgia’s ‘religious liberty’ bill
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 3/28/16 | Greg Bluestein

Posted on 03/28/2016 7:19:56 AM PDT by madprof98

Gov. Nathan Deal said he will veto the “religious liberty” bill that triggered a wave of criticism from gay rights groups and business leaders and presented him with one of the most consequential challenges he’s faced since his election to Georgia’s top office.

The measure “doesn’t reflect the character of our state or the character of its people,” the governor said Monday in prepared remarks. He said state legislators should leave freedom of religion and freedom of speech to the U.S. Constitution.

People in GA haven’t chosen anyone good in decades.

I predict the GA legislature will be found wanting.

I agree. I’m coming around to the conclusion they’re all bought.

Do they not realize that they would be taxed for 100% of their income if the liberals had their way . . .

Empty rhetoric. Who got all the money Obama said he needed to stave off financial catastrophe? Sure wasn't anybody who was actually facing such a catastrophe. But the financiers had many a pricey picnic with it.

I understand...I guess what I should have said is maybe it’s time to push back instead of us being so polite.
I also have to remind myself that ultimately, man is not going to fix any of this, only a returning Saviour.
Keep our eyes on The Prize.

It is sad, but he almost had no other fiscally prudent choice. To do otherwise would almost bankrupt the state budget. We will have to argue how phony and ridiculous their cause is some other day.

“Now you know why Trump carried the Southern states. Most Republicans in the South are just converted Democrats like him. Makes them all liberal Republicans”

Do you live in the South?

I do not know the full history of the Democrat party here, but I suspect that at one time, most or all of the conservatives in the South were Democrats.

Most of the Republicans I know who are from the south and live in the south are very conservative. Some support Trump and some support Cruz.

I never liked Trump (I was a Rand supporter) but Cruz has me turned off with all the globalist stuff plus his history with the Bush admin. He has not credibly explained how he could be all in for W from 2000-2008 but be at odds with much of the same stuff now. The fact that his wife seems to be a committed globalist makes me very uncomfortable.

I confess to warming to Trump a little recently, but that is not based on a sense that he has demonstrated the kind of principles that would incline me to want to vote for him.

Smartest thing the pinkos ever did was take over the corporations. This veto defying the will of the people is is the face of corportist fascism.

That is because our mother’s and grandmother’s taught us to be polite.

But being polite toward bullies or evil is never smart.

The world today sucks. I actually do miss the old days. Back when people were decent and not a bunch of ass holes.

See, this is why I can't understand why people are OK with bringing kids into today's messed-up world. I'm so glad that I haven't. I sure wouldn't want any child asking me, "Why did you bring me into this horrible world???"

You may well be correct. Nonetheless, we still should pray about the matter. At least then we won't have to share in any of the guilt. And who knows, God might surprise us.

Amen! As Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

And as for the shameful Mr. Deal:

"By their fruits you will know them."

"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."

Do you honestly think God would accept that as an excuse??

In one of the most bizarre events in New York cabaret history, former segregationist Gov. Lester Maddox made his cabaret debut accompanied by Bobby Lee Sears, seen here in an excerpt from 1977.

Amazing the amount of folks willing to side with Mammon over The Lord.

IMHO we’re very very close to those terrible Revelation days. Come Lord Jesus!

I don’t know if it’s the end of the world, but it’s certainly the end of the USA. The only question remaining is what will follow in its wake.

Why don’t you butt out, and stay in Ohio, asswipe? Deal did the correct thing here. Jobs and businesses are important and I myself am a capitalist.
