The latest Quinnipiac University Poll suggests that Republican front-runner Donald Trump has any hope of winning his blue home state of New York in November, despite predictions that he could buck political trends there.

The poll shows Trump losing New York by at least 20 points in theoretical head-to-head matchups against Democrats Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders:

The poll shows Ted Cruz faring even worse than Trump against either Democrat. John Kasich is the only GOP candidate who comes close to either of the Democrats in New York, the poll shows, placing him must 5 points behind Clinton.

The advantage Trump has is that he is not an established politician and will make comments that are not scripted and may sound bad...just like any other non political person. That is why he is liked...he is human and seems to have a good soul.

Incompetent liars and thieves.

They can’t manage money better than any 16 year old but they won’t let us elect someone who can.

But Trump said he can win NY!

No candidate in history has ever admitted that he, she, or it expected lose the election, and that lie (as you call it) continues right up to the concession speech. They all do it, including St. Raphael.

Charlie Manson would “crush” Trump in New Yawk also if he were the DemocRAT nominee. This isn’t news. Same goes for Cauliphonya.

From a life long New York State resident, I have two words for you naysayers ..... George Pataki. THREE TIMES!!!

I will never forget when Dan Rather announced that George Pataki had won NY. Rather was beside himself. He could hardly say the words. Disbelief was all over his face.

So don’t tell me Trump would lose in NY, when the General campaign hasn’t even started yet.

Really? Trump loses to either in NYS Why is Hillary attacking Trump in NYS if she is so far ahead? Please get a grip Q poll. When Trump actually starts in on her she’s finished.

Trump can remind NY that Hillary is Merkel! Hillary wants to do to the USA what Merkel has done in Germany. Hillary wants to force US citizens to capitulate to Islam under the ruse of “tolerance” and “inclusion”

Hillary is Merkel!

I hate to say it but there is No way Trump will beat Hillary or Sanders in New York. He just isn’t that well liked among the electorate there. He has no presence upstate and Cuomo/DeBlasio will make certain that Trump’s support in the lower state (NYC area) is minimalized.

Trump might beat Hillary in New Jersey where he is much more popular (he builds nice golf courses) and he might do well against Sanders whose tax scheme would hit wealthy New Jerseyans very hard. But given the unpopularity of Christie, the number of handout loving urban poor and young brainwashed do-gooders here, even that is a longshot.

Bottom line - don’t count on Trump getting any Electors from NY or NJ. If he does, then he was going to win in a landslide nationally anyway.

The latest Quinnipiac University Poll suggests that Republican front-runner Donald Trump has any hope of winning his blue home state of New York in November

This sentence makes no sense.

Shouldn't "any" be "no"?

I'm not even an English major, and I can write.

No serious person believes republicans, no matter who the nominee is, have a remote chance of winning NY, or even NJ for that matter. The calculus will be what it has been for a long time. The swing states will have to be won

Will nominating a candidate with off the chart negatives make that easier or harder?

Trump is a dreadful candidate. But New York is not what I am worried about.

The poll is only right in one respect. Both Clinton and Trump will win NY going away. As far as either one of them beating Trump if he’s the nominee, I wouldn’t write off Trump so fast. The race between him and Clinton would be tight because Trump is going to dominate upstate NY. He’ll also carry millions of votes in NYC. As for socialist Bernie Sanders beating him, well I needed a good laugh this morning. Trump would bury Sanders in NY and in the rest of the country. He might carry Vermont, but it would be close. If Bernie Sanders is the nominee he’ll lose 49 out of 50 states to any one running against him.

NY elected REPUBLICAN Pataki twice as governor. Don’t tell me Trump can’t win the state, he can.

The problem with NY and other states like it, the populations are condensed into the cities and the cities run the states. Not that that is a secret to anyone on here. However, I remember listening to Boortz, oh so long ago, and he brought up the fact that in general elections, the Liberal cities are the Kingmakers. One just has to look at voting maps. The country is Red for the most part, except for the cities.
It’s especially worse for people in places like Maryland, Colorado and a few others. Where urban voters impose their will on the folks out in the country.
