Drudge Report editor and Washington Times columnist Charles Hurt took a look at the state of the Republican presidential primary on Thursdays edition of Breitbart News Daily with SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon.
Hurt said the Republican Establishment loves talking about convention rules, floor fights, and the fine points of delegate behavior because it allows them to avoid a far deeper and more important problem they have, and that is that they are completely out of touch with Republican voters.
They opened this huge avenue for Donald Trump, who isnt like them, whos an outsider, who is flamboyant, and is a force unlike anybody else, he continued. They allowed him to walk in, and the guy was one hundred percent in tune with voters on everything.
(snip)
Having covered Ted Cruz, and what he has done in the Senate ever since he has been here, to see him now as the henchman and handmaiden of the Establishment to block Donald Trump? Hurt marveled, scoffing at the suggestion that the Establishment is actually moving in Cruzs direction on the issues or that they would allow him to win the White House and become the nominal leader of the Republican Party.
It is not going to work, Hurt declared. All he is doing is, hes doing their work to prevent Donald Trump from clinching the nomination.

Cruz or leaving it blank/3rd party at this point. #nevertrump. #neverplannedparenthood. #neverPaulRyan.
When one starts to display ‘conservatism’ spouting a lie knowing it is a lie (NBC) then how does that speak to his ‘conservatism?’ Cruz is not eligible and those who feel that he is are beyond delusional. He is NBC no more than BO’B was NBC. Two of a kind in bed together. Enter Trump to ‘help’ us see the light as to what this type of thinking will be the downfall of this nation.
No, I do - your statement about bowing and kneeling doesn’t hold water, and you can’t even detect sarcasm. Ignorant, professing weak arguments, unwillingness to prove assurances based on emotion - a Trump supporter to a “T”.
He donated to Hanoi John Kerry and Hillary.
I believe I have. I try to read every hit piece posted here, even blogs. With very few exceptions all of the criticism I've seen has been subjective, fact-free supposition that the reader is likely to accept only when it suits their political fancy.
There are several votes since gaining the senate Cruz can be criticized for, but of course he's not perfect. The rest of the charges have been absolute rubbish.
I’m still trying to figure out how you can believe someone is a HenchMAN and a HandMAIDEN at the same time...
Love,
O2
I believe the talk I believed what everybody said I took it at face value.... the election was far away so really didn't start my intellectual due diligence with Cruz... yeah on the surface he looks like the guy
but also I knew about the birth issue...
and after 8 years of Obama birthers I knew it would be brought up
there's no way, rationally, logically, being intellectually honesty, that it wouldn't be. At the very least by the Dem just as Payback on giving Obama a hard time for 8 years for his birth certificate ...
it just this isn't going to pass away the Dems say. let bygones be bygones
they're going to kickCruz as much as they can on the Canadian birth to do everything they can disqualify him ( and the Obama birther for 8 years had given them the ammo to do so) I don't care what side of the law you come down on he's still going to get attacked on it
And I said well everybody that's talking about Cruz for President they must know way around this ... they will address this
but they really didn't they just blew it off saying oh it's a non-issue that was the first red flag to me...
When you say something.
that is obviously there ...
is nothing...
and keep saying it's nothing
if you're trying to sell that lie to me ...and yourself
it because that something is too big for you to face... you just go in to denial... you just keep lying it's not there very Bill Clinton like
and going forward from that point it seem very revealed about Cruz
That he's a narcissist ....he's very good at hiding it an first... but his ego is so big...he's more interested in being president for his ego than anything about the conservative movement....
If he really gave a dam about the conservative movement he would have been addressing his own vulnerabilities and he didn't
Cruz would never fall on the sword for conservatives...say I'm not the guy that can get us to the top of the mountain I've got a vulnerability I can't fix
No Cruz wants conservatives to fall on the sword for him to make try to make him president.. to fight a really unwinnable fight if he the man in the lead..
that's when I realized Cruz just saw conservatism as a vehicle for his personal ambition
See Trump has his warts...but he's not lying about them if anything Trump exposes his warts But Cruz alse has some warts (a big obvious one) and he's been lying through his teeth about it ultimately that's the difference
“The question isn’t who is supporting Cruz, it’s who has Trump supported? Trump supporters have to ignore THAT question and try to deflect to this sudden support by the GOPe of Cruz because it is TRUMP who has proven himself to be the leftist over the last 20 years.”
Present tense and past tense. Read this again, noting that until last June, trump was a businessman. Now he is in politics, and is promoting his political aspirations....Oh, what’s the use? ‘Those who have eyes do not see and ears but do not hear’.
lol, whatever it is they are passing between each other, must be pretty dang potent!
There is NO logic to their thinking, it’s twisted common core math mixed with GOPe talking points.
Cruz is the TOOL being used by all the money/power elites and oddly enough, he sure seems to enjoy it. Why I’d say he’s taken to it like a fish to water.
How true...
Just heard on Rush that some big republican donors in New York have told Cruz that if he doesn’t publicly acknowledge man-made climate change, they were cutting the money...
Be interesting to see how this one plays out....
As a businessman, he has donated to BOTH parties...
Trump has been participating in politics since as early as 1988, and has explored running for president numerous times prior to 2015. He briefly ran for the Reform Party's presidential nomination in 2000. All the while his party affiliation and contributions have bounced around, one could argue in a manner consistent with Trump seeing which way the wind was blowing.
From his past support of abortion and other progressive social causes, his donation history, favorable statements on Hillary's suitability to be president, and a host of other reasons, Trump's past paints a troubling picture of his true present motivations and future decisions should he get the nomination.
If you're going to quote scripture, consider the plank in your own eye before worrying about what I can or cannot see/hear. In your case, the blindness borders on willful.
Perhaps you mean that she played an integral role in drafting the Building a North American Union (something akin to the European Union), and that it is all a lie she did?
Is it about his sweetheart loan from Goldman Sachs, that he accidently forgot to put on his disclosure forms?
Are these the subjective fact-free suppositions that the reader is likely to accept only when it suits their political fancy?
Or perhaps the reverse is true, that they are indeed facts, verifiably proven facts at that, that the reader is likely to reject only when it suits their political fancy.
I don't care about his votes in the Senate to be quite honest, they are and were what they were. But he sure garnered very few allies in the Senate . One of the few was Jeff Sessions, who ended up going over to the Trump camp.
My point being though that Cruz supporters are now just sure that they establishment will allow him to walk away as their nominee. Why is that? What evidence do you have to support that belief?
That is why I originally said what I said about believing in fantasies. There is absolutely nothing to support that belief and everything to support just the opposite.
Take Graham for example, said that Ted could get shot on the Senate floor and no one would file charges. Now he is in Ted's camp. Do you honestly believe that Graham, a left leaning moderate has suddenly, miraculously, become an overnight conservative?
Take the private meetings that continue to this day as to how to steal the nomination from both of them and to do it in a way to make it look like they really supported Cruz. Only an an attempt to try to not alienate their base voters, but a Hillary win is a win for them in their minds. Because it keeps them in power..
No, Ted is the Republican Parties useful idiot, period. Graham was sent in there to convince Cruz that the establishment would back him up in the Convention if he can keep Trump from getting to the magical number of 1,237.
After New York, this will be all Ted has left, but the establishment will continue to tell Ted he has it in the bag. Again, only as an illusion they hope they can pass off on their base.
Thats exactly what they are.
As I said, we've long passed the point of reasonable debate.
Heidi Cruz was a CFR member. Fact.
Heidi Cruz played an "integral role" in Building the NA Union Report. Subjective. She wrote a single paragraph emphasizing the role the private market should have in such an arrangement.
Ted Cruz's "sweetheart" loan from Goldman Sachs. Subjective. Cruz took out a margin loan to fund his senate race. There is no proof he received any special treatment. He did neglect to file an FEC disclosure (he did file it immediate upon being notified), but did file the other paperwork, indicating he did not intend to deceive anyone.
Its up to each of us whether or not to believe any of this should disqualify Cruz, makes him a "liar", or "sleazy", or "worse than Obama". I don't think it does. And I could come up with many many more questionable things Trump has done and could easily characterize him as a sleazy guy. But I'd rather consider what each might do as president and base my opinions on that.
I guess so when you can't accept true facts. I know they are an inconvenient part of life, and are best ignored rather than faced.
A bit too quick on the draw there, Tex
Since I don’t listen to the endless talking heads these days, let me know what you find out. Shocking turn of events, when did the GOPe sign on to climate change?!
It was some big donors to the GOPe...I don’t know if any of the leaders are that way, but I would not be surprised...They will swing which way the money tree grows...
The same evidence you have to support Trump can walk away with the nomination. Delegate votes & primary rules.
