Cruz is still waiting for Trump to Debate on O'Reilly
Fox News | April 10, 2016 | Ralph Mitchell

Posted on 04/10/2016 12:34:59 PM PDT by mitchell001

On last Thursday's O'Reilly Factor, Ted Cruz and Bill O'Reilly both said that Donald Trump does not want to debate Ted Cruz on the Factor. O'Reilly is still trying to get the debate scheduled. Also, O'Reilly said that Donald was mad at O'Reilly. If Trump wants to be the best GOP nominee, shouldn't he go up against Cruz so as to sharpen his debating skills and knowledge for a future Hillary debate?

Cruz isn’t nearly as brilliant a debater as he think he is. In fact he’s pretty dumb sometimes.

I agree. After making his NY values comment during one debate, he was reduced to having to stand there and clap at Trump’s response to him. What a great debater. LOL

Why even bother ? ..it looks like Cruz and his GOPe masters are going to steal it anyways ...perhaps they think a debate will give them cover ...

The true arguments for Trump not debating...

If he has nothing to gain the debate is pointless.
If he has nothing to lose, there is no reason not to debate.

If Mr. Trump has nothing to gain, then he is at a wall. His tools cannot gain anything from having to explain his ideas with a critical opponent.

Trump has ducked out of agreed upon debates before. He was afraid of losing. He is savvy enough to know he won’t win. Whatever the feelings of the posters on this thread, Mr. Trump believes this is not his best.

He is going to eliminate the DEBT in 8 years. That is a Herculean promise. He will change NATO fundamentally...he will balance the budget...he will enforce crappy trade deals that will make the Chinese government acquiesce to something different...he will institute tariffs that will help make America great again...

I want to hear him discuss those issues with someone critically challenging him in substantive ways.

He would have the opportunity to do the same with Sen Cruz in a debate. Mr. Trump is not good at doing these things. He has people to do them for him. Maybe he can or maybe he cannot.

But he did chicken out of a couple. Being president is not for the weak of heart. And there is no one to go to to fix the game in your favor. Putin was threatened by his oligarchs, he put them in jail. Trump isn’t up to oligarch status, but he is in the same neighborhood. He is a political insider as he buys politicians, and he has their inside numbers to “fix” problems. Heck, he just bought one to run his campaign.

How’s that an outsider again?

DK

Trump doesn’t need to “insult” Hillary, all he needs is to tell the truth about all her scandals.

How is he going to humiliate Hillary? By insulting her?

In debates Trump does not insult people as much as is claimed. He does negative marketing. Specifically he figures out one thing about his opponent that give people an emotional reason to not support them. He then packages it as a catch-phrase label that sticks in the mind, with Jeb! it was "low energy Jeb". This kind of targeted labeling is effective for turning people off to a product.

Now on twitter, Trump will get childish sometimes when something upsets him and get in the gutter with insults...similar to the flame wars all to common on FR now-a-days. But that is not what he will do in the debate.

Now the problem with debating Hilary is to limit oneself to one negative marketing catch-phrase among so many possibilities.

Cruz did not stop the Gang of 8 bill.

He wanted to add more H1B visa’s to it.

Until you and others actually demand results from the GOP,
instead of chest pounding, grandstanding and “debating”
You are going to get the same thing you have gotten for 20 years.

Nothing.

Time for something much different.

Politics 101 rule # 1 is to NEVER hand your campaign opponent a bountiful publicity platform when you're ahead.

BO'R's show has the number one cable rating in the U S of A for that time slot. With Trump in such a debate, the audience would double, triple, quadruple the present ratings.

Trump would be crazy to accede to Cruz's and O'Reilly's thinly-veiled threats and pressures. I doubt he will. Only Cruz plus the Bloviator and his commercial sponsors would benefit from such a useless public display.

Trumps a smart man, why would he debate Cruz and have no chance of winning...

Only losers looking for a Hail Mary want to debate at this late stage. Cruz had 12 chances.

Oh, remember when Lyin' Ted attacked New York values and Trump retorted with an answer that is destroying Cruz's chance in the vital New York Primary. That might just result in Cruz finishing 3rd in in NY and being virtually shutout in delegates.

Trump should completely ignore Cruz. Pretend he dropped out. Cruz Is about to be delegate deprived of 1237 by the end of the month. Cruz is about to rack up a ton of 3rd places in the northeast like the south. Ignore the jerk trump!
