With a deck? a dock? a duck?
Wow, is Ann taking all her columns directly from FR arguments now?
Most excellent, Ann.
Ask old man Kennedy. Its how he got his son "elected" president. Ask "Landslide Lyndon" how he got elected in Texas.
“AHA! We’ve got you, Larry! Please — get a life. Exactly how many assemblies and caucuses was Larry required to attend? Do you need to read more to know what a weaselly nerd Cruz is?”
It is the same as my state, Washington. Three total. Of course even if you just go to the first one you are having an opportunity to make your voice heard. (It is sort of a vote - just raising your hand or saying “Okay - we select Larry to go.”)
I got an email from a Cruz volunteer to remind me to go to my precinct caucus (1.5 miles away). I did, and was elected to go to my district caucus (6 miles away). (Larry was elected to go to his County Assembly).
I got some more emails of when/where that caucus was, and got a call from a Cruz volunteer to remind me. Larry said “somebody” told him he didn’t need to attend his County Assembly (which is similar to my District Caucus). Larry DID get a documented 6-minute long phone call from his Assemblyman reminding him to attend his County Assembly.
I was elected to go to my state caucus. I had all sorts of emails about registering for that within 10 days. They stopped when I finally registered.
Based on Larry’s story I emailed my district chair about something. She emailed me within three hours and clarified that I was all set to go to the state convention.
The hardest part about the whole process was at the District Caucus and making sure I filled in the circle on the ballot with black ink. I’m a bit OCD that way.
BTW - first time I ever got involved like this. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that. Oh - it was Larry’s first time too. He seems like an okay guy, I hope he continues trying to get involved in spite of him burning his ID card.
If only those were brains.
Oh, wait, maybe they are brains.
Is Ann-Drew upset with Cruz over his opposition to transgender rights?
If we are doing movie refrences, Trump is John Yerkes Iselin and Hillary is Mrs. Iselin.
Wow. This is worthless tripe.
It’s absolutely incomprehensible and unintelligible.
This is what you are devolving to?
Ann is right about Wisconsin. That state does not get enough (negative) attention for helping to create the Amerika of today, especially the communistic wort of the La Follette dynasty. My parents, very conservative, left there in early adulthood.
My college roommate, a bizarre Calvinist-progressive hybrid I have encountered elsewhere, left his childhood state and made Madison his lifelong home. I am sure he feels very comfortable (and superior) there.
Under regulations established in the 1980s, delegates cannot take money from corporations, labor unions, federal contractors or foreign nationals. But an individual donor is permitted to give a delegate unlimited sums to support his or her efforts to get selected to go to the convention, including money to defray the costs of travel and lodging.
Has Ann gone bat guano crazy? So states that don't allow Democrats to select the GOP candidate are somehow evil? And they adopted rules to help ... Ted Cruz? He must be really amazing to anticipate exactly where the campaign would be a year in advance and then fly all over the country in time to change the rules so that they would work perfectly just for him right at this moment. What an amazing candidate!
Instead of attacking Ted Cruz for playing by the rules, she should be complaining about the dysfunctional Trump campaign. He has virtually no ground game, and sometimes doesn't even know when to show up - see his latest Washington state fiasco. Is this a serious campaign for POTUS, or just another reality TV show Ann?
Trump has NEVER topped 50% in any state. His best performance 49.31 was in THE MOST PROGRESSIVE STATE ON THE PLANET, politically just to the left of North Korea. Yep, that Trump fella is a force to be reckoned with. He's unstoppable. I promise you what people in Taxachusetts want in a President is WILDLY different from most Americans, especially Christians and Conservatives. BTW - Has Cruz whined and complained about the Hawaii, Minnesota, Nevada, or Kentucky caucuses? I wonder why not? Now that the field is narrowed and Conservatives aren't splitting their votes 3-5 ways, it will get much harder for Trump to win any state, except his mind-numbed progressive friends in the Northeast. Enjoy that lead while you have it, and oh by the way, have Trump read the rules.
Speaking of Texas, there were 14 people on the ballot when early voting began, and a massive influx of DNC voters/rent-a-Trump-mob types in the open primary. Even with all those advantages, Cruz still beat Trump by almost 500,000 votes. Setting aside the votes for Cruz, in the MOST RELIABLY CONSERVATIVE STATE IN THE UNION, more people voted AGAINST the progressive reality tv star than for him - (837,154 to 757,489). Don't know how one spins that as a negative for Cruz, but its certainly NOT a positive for Trump moving forward.
The primary system in recent years has given us 2 progressives - McCain, Romney, and now a hard core NYC values big government progressive - Trump, is leading. After watching far too many Democrats vote in the GOP primary in Texas, I'm leaning more towards a caucus or closed primary in the future. The GOP cannot allow progressives, especially Democrat crossovers to have so much influence over our nominee. Ann may be happy nominating Obama-lite and Hillary-lite, but its the fastest way to kill turnout among Conservatives and Christians, and is disastrous for local and state races down the ticket. They are terrified at the prospect of Trump at the top of the ticket. What a nightmare that would be, even in reliably Conservative districts/counties/states.
Has Ann settled on a gender yet?
Thank you for posting this. I cannot believe Cruz will be helped by this style of “winning.” The most likely scenarios is the electorate gets so ticked off they stay home.
I love that movie, “Election”.
Tracy Flick with a ****, wow.
Annie is really outdoing herself with the deranged garbage she’s writing.
